I have always been interested in becoming a necromancer. The idea of creating a powerful fighter from dead corpses is just interesting. The fact that something broken and old can be reused and turned into something greater. I know playing with corpses is really gross, and I agree with you. I'm talking about how I feel about necromancy in games. I'm not a pervert.

Seeing all of the draugr come out of their coffins gets boring after you get used to it. Although the rotten smell and the sight of their decomposing flesh makes one puke, for some reason it doesn't seem like that gross to me at all. I continued to attack the draugrs with flame and frost from a distance.

On the other side of the room, Toldfir was also fighting draugr. He conjured wards and fireballs at them, leaving none alive. After clearing the room, I stood in front of the iron spikes. I quickly pulled the chain and opened the iron spikes.

"I've never seen anything like this in Nordic ruins before. Why, just look at all of these coffins!"

I looked back at him and said, "Are you going to gawk at awe or are you coming with me and see the real sight to behold?"

Toldfir narrowed his eyes at me. "You have a strange identity, don't you? After that encounter with the Psijic Order, it feels like you're a different person."

"Really?" I asked, "How so?"

"I can't quite place it. Before the magicka around you seemed to avoid you, but now it feels like they're attracted to you."

"Of course they're attracted to me, I'm a heavenly beauty." *flips hair*

"You're wasting it with that personality of yours."

"Oy."

"But regardless, I'll just blame the Psijic Order for your mysterious knowledge. Not that anything else can explain why you know all of these things."

I opened the door, "Come on, we're wasting time."

"You go on ahead," he replied, "I'd like to stay a while and examine these coffins."

"What do you mean you go on ahead?! There's a bunch of draugrs ahead! How could you let your student go on knowing that there's danger ahead?"

"I didn't know there were draugr beyond this point! Besides, with your power, you don't really need my help."

"Nonono, it's clearly easier when you're killing the draugr for me."

"What?"

"Pleeeasseeee."

Toldfir was adamant about inspecting the draugr coffins, so I just sat down on the floor while pouting. Damn it, now I have to wait for my meat shield— I mean my teacher, to finish inspecting the coffins.

Toldfir suddenly spoke up, "It is interesting though."

"What is?" I asked.

"How draugrs are able to move about. The undead is classified under conjured creatures. They move through the power of magicka. I just can't see how they'll start moving on their own."

"It's an ancient magic." I replied, "Before they died, these draugrs served a dragon priest. They rise and offer their life force to the priest and then go back to sleep and replenish their energy."

Toldifr was clearly confused by my response, "What's this about a dragon priest? What do you mean they replenish their energy? It still doesn't make sense."

Of course, it doesn't. This was a game. He continued to ask me, "How do you know all of this?"

"I was browsing the wiki— cough, I mean it was knowledge gifted to me by the Psijic Order. I don't know how accurate the info is though."

Toldfir let out a chuckle, "Only you would doubt the veracity of the information given by the all-powerful Psijic Order."

Suddenly, a thought popped into my head. "Although this tomb doesn't have a dragon priest, it does have a powerful artifact that may cause the rise of the draugr."

After hearing that, Toldfir asked me, "An artifact? What kind of artifact?"

"The Eye of Magnus, an orb with a tremendous amount of magicka."

Toldfir stopped inspecting the ruins. He looked me straight in the eye as if wanting confirmation. His eyes told me he was suspicious of the information I told him, yet he can only sigh. "An artifact powerful enough to animate all of the draugr in this tomb sounds unreal. Very well, let us go deeper into the ruins."

Hah! Meat shield, get!

We finally started delving deeper into the ruins. As we go deeper and deeper, we encounter more and more draugrs. Since I only know two offensive spells, I mostly went behind Toldfir and attacked the draugrs from a distance.

He was getting irritated how he was being treated. "Will you stop going behind me? They're all focusing on me."

"That's the point! Why do you think I waited for you to finish inspecting the coffins?"

"But you can summon a flame atronach right?!"

"Ah… Oh shit, you're right."

Toldfir launched a fireball in my direction, "Stop wasting my time!"

I quickly dodged the fireball. I swear he wasn't this irritable when Skyrim was a game. I wonder why he's like this now. I quickly summoned a flame atronach. This time it didn't disappear after five seconds. It looks like my original potential really was a big factor in my spells.

After being summoned, the flame atronach quickly shot fireballs at the draugrs. Some of the fireballs even explode on impact! Holy shit! It makes Toldfir's spells look pale in comparison. I sent him a pitying look. He shot another fireball in my direction as if he felt my gaze.

Enough joking around. We quickly finished clearing the draugrs. After a minute, my flame atronach returned. Unlike before, I no longer felt fatigued after that one spell.

We continued going deeper into the dungeon. Even when we were blocked by a gate, we solved the puzzles pretty easily. Saarthal is indeed kind of a beginner dungeon, so none of the puzzles were really hard.

We finally got to the final door. It was an unimpressive iron door. It looked like the same door a storage room would have (typical Bethesda reusing model). But even just standing in front of the door made one's magicka regenerate fairly quickly. The dense magicka in the air signified one thing: The Eye of Magnus was on the other side.

"What are you waiting for?" Toldfir asked.

"Please refrain from leaving your mouth wide open when you see the majestic sight. You might catch the flies living here."

As Toldfir charged another fireball, I quickly took back what I said. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. But beyond this door is not only the artifact but also a powerful draugr that is guarding it."

Toldfir stopped casting the fireball and furrowed his brows. "It's to be expected that something is guarding a powerful artifact. Let us be careful."

"Of course," I replied.

I slowly opened the iron door. There was a small hallway leading downwards into a larger room. As we entered it, a majestic view entered our sight. Even though I warned Toldfir, he looked with his mouth wide open in astonishment. But even I couldn't help but be surprised. Because…

The Eye of Magnus was glowing blood red…

What the hell? Is this a graphical glitch?
