Edward sat in the outer office with the other members of Colonel Mustang's team and helped them with their paperwork. It was a rare day for Ed to actually be there helping out; he was usually all over the country trying to find a way to restore his and Alphonse's bodies, but when he was there, he tried to help however he could.

Ed followed Hawkeye's instructions on how to help everyone and sat beside Havoc as he filled out his paperwork. He was actually only there instead of the library because the Colonel was still looking over his report. Mustang usually liked to have Ed in the office with him so he could lecture him on everything wrong with his report. However, on this day, he was looking over it alone because it was on the bottom of his list of things to do.

As Ed was looking over Havoc's shoulder to see his work, the doors to the inner office opened, revealing Roy Mustang with an envelope in hand. The others tried to look like they were working as much as possible.

"Finally!" Ed spoke, exasperated. "Did you finish looking over my report?"

"I did," Mustang replied. "You did a good job on this one, Fullmetal. You're officially cleared to go to Xenotime for field research." The dark haired man handed over the envelope he had been holding to Edward. "These are your tickets to Xenotime and I expect you to report back to me within forty-two hours of your return."

"Got it; thanks, dad." Ed opened the envelope and looked over at the tickets to verify the date and time of the train he would need to take. He soon felt everyone's eyes on him.

There was silence.

"What?" Ed asked with an annoyed tone.

"You just called the Colonel 'dad'," Havoc answered.

"What? No I didn't," Ed denied quickly. "You guys are nuts!"

"No, you did," Hawkeye added. "You thanked the Colonel and referred to him as your father."

"Y'all are nuts." Ed huffed and turned out of the room as quickly as he could.

He did not call the Colonel 'dad'.
