Rag quilt

This story is based loosely off when I made a fleece rag quilt, and my youngest cat decided to 'help'. Have to be very careful with the pins and iron with the cat around.

Misaki was home for the holiday season, much to Takumi's glee, and excitement. (In fact she had completed her term in Africa early so her next assignment was not until the new year. She also had gotten permission from her superiors that she could start a family, as well as pick a longer-term assignment of her choosing. (That part she was keeping as a secret surprise for Takumi.).

Now Sakura had found out she was back for the holidays, so had dragged Misaki off for some 'Girl Time', and some shopping. So they ended up doing some Christmas shopping, and ended up going into a quilting shop, to pick out the pieces for making a fleece rag quilt for the holidays.

There were many different patterns and colors to choose from, so with Sakura and the store's help managed to pick out what she needed, sticking to amber and emerald tones, and getting them die cut.

Taking the kit home, Misaki had the better part of the week to work on the rag quilt, instructions with it. She had to do it in secret to Takumi, since it was to be a gift. However, Takumi was stuck at a medical conference out of town for a few days, so she had a bit of a respite there.

Now here was the problem, since Misaki wasn't much for sewing.

Also, the instructions for the fleece rag quilt simply said to sandwich the back piece, liner, and front piece together, to make the blocks, sew an X on it, and to lay it out to put it together, 7 across, by 9 down. Saying you can't really go wrong with it, and good luck. (It also didn't say how to wash and dry it afterwards.)

So Misaki managed to stick the blocks together, and even managed to make the X on them. Because it was straight sewing.(It wasn't perfect, but fair enough.). Then tried laying out what she was supposed to do with them. Licht decided then that he would 'help', by coming in to roll around and mess everything up.

Shooing Licht out, Misaki fixed what she could, but then ran into trouble, because she didn't know how to put it all together, or to change to the walking foot or use it. So, she called Aoi, who happened to be in town setting up for a designer show, to ask if he could give her tips on fixing it.

After listening to Misaki explain to him about her problem with the rag quilt, Aoi agreed to come over to help Misaki finish the quilt. He had enough time to drop by, help finish the quilt, and finish off the last details for his show at least.

So Aoi came over and after a quick look got the rag quilt set out, and even put it together with the walking foot, (Which they had to look for it in the parts/accessory drawer.). Misaki thanking Aoi, and agreeing for Her and Takumi to go watch his new line, (VIP), in the designer show.

After Aoi left, Misaki made sure to properly clean up, and wash/dry the rag quilt. Since Aoi had told her how to do that. She would hide it from Takumi as his Christmas gift.
