Disclaimer: Shock horror, Supergirl isn't mine.

A/N: This wandered into my head but had nothing attached, so have a drabble. Also, I'm listening to Melissa Benoist sing "Everytime" from Glee and I fail to see how anything could be more appropriate.

And, um, let's just go with, "I tried to spell it phonetically," lol

fluency

The first time Lena tells Kara I love you (and half the times thereafter), she says so in Kryptonese.

Kara stares at her, and stares at her, and then it softens into something tinged with wonderment and then it's gone because Kara's kissing her. Kissing her like she needs Lena to breathe, except she can't breathe and she pulls back, gasping.

She cries, and laughs, and cries, because oh Rao, she never thought she would hear that, like that, and it is precious, so precious, and the tears are still falling and she can't make them stop and she hiccups a half-smiling apology, because Lena's dress is doubtless silk or something and now it's ruined.

Lena dismisses that with a shake of her head and leans back in to share the gentlest kiss. She echoes the sentiment once more, shaping the words against Kara's lips.

Kara has barely recovered from the first (and it shocks her anew, oh, a tremor to the core), but this time, she finds the space in her throat to croak a heartfelt reply:

"Saep zhao rip. Oh, Lena, I love you, too. I love you, too."

And as if her homeworld has flickered back to star-life in the sky, some long-dark part of Kara finally fades into the light.
