a/n: Now some people are sad because they see the thestrals. It means they've seen death, but Luna sees the hope and optimism in the darkness. Set in Book Five, Order of the Phoenix.
Life and Light

Luna took Harry's hand as they went to feed some thestrals.
"The key to life is to remember why we are living," she said.
Harry looked skeptical. "How can you say that? Being able to see the thestrals means we saw death, we see our loved ones die, that's the only reason we can see them."
Luna's smile didn't fade however. "Harry Potter being able to see thestrals, yes, that does mean we both saw death. I lost my mother and you lost your parents. But-" She smiled again. "We wouldn't be here standing together if we didn't would we?"
Harry breathed out loudly. "I still don't see how that's the glass half-full."
Luna took his hand and they walked closer to the thestrals. "I know it's hard to sometimes see the glass half-full, but sometimes life happens a certain way and there is nothing we can do to change it, but there is beauty in some of the pain."
"I don't see the beauty," Harry grumbled.
Luna's radiant blue eyes and blonde hair shook as she raised her head to the sky. "Maybe not now. But to me, the thestrals are beautiful. Look at them Harry, you can see them."
Harry looked hesitantly at the large skeletal, winged creatures. They looked like a crossover of a horse and a dead hippogryff. They were sort of majestic.
"I suppose..." he said.
Luna grabbed him by the hand. "Once we're in the air, flying faster than even a muggle car, you'll see how beautiful they actually are."
Harry smiled a little as he let Luna help him climb onto the thestral and then they kicked their heels back against the large creature, preparing to lift off...
