So this is a reaction piece from Survivor Series (or post Survivor Series). It's written for Captain, who's the best. I miss her quite a bit. She wanted something with feels and Roman. I gave her that sans the Roman. I marked out when the three did that Triple Powerbomb on AJ. Honestly, that entire match was so satisfying to me.
Hope everyone enjoys this. It was a nice brain break from a couple chapter fics I've been working on. I'm being oddly productive with writing lately. I must be sick or something. Once I get a bit further, I'll start posting the chapters.
And happy belated Thanksgiving to any Americans (and anyone who's just feeling thankful).
Disclaimer: You know the drill. They aren't mine... But maybe Captain will consider them for my Christmas present/s?
"What was that?" Dean asked. "What the hell was that?"
Seth looked up from the stack of posters he was signing. "I believe they call it a traditional 5 on 5 Survivor Series match."
Dean scowled. "You know what I meant. Why the hell did you do that?"
Seth shrugged. "It felt right. For old time's sake? I don't know; it's not like it was completely out of left field."
"What's your point?"
"You felt it, too."
"I don't know what you're talking about, Rollins," Dean said, looming over the Architect who was still; casually sitting at the table.
Seth raised an eyebrow. "Yeah? You didn't feel like you were moving on from the bad blood between us?"
Dean wanted to refute it the notion and say there would always be bad blood between them, but maybe it was Seth was right. Dean wasn't infuriated by the mere sight of Seth's face anymore. He didn't want to rip Seth's hair out and shove it in his mouth, letting him choke on it… He knew for a fact that Roman wasn't still resentful either. And Seth...he had paid his penance. He lost the title in a fashion that was eerily familiar to how he pinned Rman to win it. He was betrayed by someone he trusted. (Even though the man who betrayed him was so untrustworthy, it was laughable that Seth had trusted him in the first place.) He had been repeatedly screwed over in his pursuit for the Universal Title. And surely even Roman could admit that Seth had helped him out of some tight spots recently. "Why did you help out tonight?"
Seth looked a little disappointed at how Dean avoided responding to his question. "It just felt right. AJ deserved to pay for how he acted tonight...and at Backlash. And it felt like old times, I don't know..."
"Wait, you didn't plan that out?"
"No… For once, I didn't."
"Weren't you the one that always criticized me for thinking with my heart?"
Seth nodded, slowly. "Yeah, I took a leap out of your book for once."
"...How did that feel?"
"It felt...really good."
Dean's expression didn't waver from it's stern frown. "I don't trust you."
"I know."
"And I don't think I will ever trust you like I did before."
Seth avoided making eye contact with Dean. "I can respect that."
Dean straightened up from how he was leaning on the table. "Thank you for what you did tonight."
Seth nodded and said without looking up, "No problem."
Dean started walking away before he glanced back. "Oh and Rollins?"
"Yeah, Dean?"
"I forgive you."
"You what?" Seth asked, looking up.
"For everything you did, I forgive you. Just thought I should let you know," Dean said as he stood fidgeting.
Seth smiled at Dean.
"Thanks, Dean."
Dean started to stalk away, leaving a beaming Seth. "Yeah, don't mention it, Seth."
