Pivot Point
A/u: The Strange-verse will be some weird combo of movie, comic and completely my own. DP verse is au Ultimate Enemy.
Doctor Stephan Strange was not particularly gifted in the arts of sight. And so, when the splintering of future timelines made itself known within his dreams he took notice.
For the past few years he'd kept a silent watch on Amity Park and their... dimensional troubles. How the Fentons had bridged the gap between science and the mystic arts associated with ghosts enough to create a mostly stable, semi permanent portal to the ghost dimension, he'd never figured out. And if he were being totally honest with himself, didn't want to know either. Three people with that kind of knowledge in the world was three people too many. And though he'd never stepped in and interfered, he'd watched the development of the young hero in the months since he'd gained his powers.
His development as both an individual and a superhero was coming along nicely. There'd been a few hiccups, sure (the whole debacle with Spectra, and Walker came to mind) but hero without trials was only a meta human doing heroic deeds until proven otherwise.
Danny Fenton definitely had the beginnings of a hero, but the upcoming storm would either make or break him.
The Ancient One had taught him some key points were inescapable. The eventual explosion of an unstable portal into another realm was one of them. But if he played his cards right, he could probably manipulate the explosion to only seriously injure those involved instead of outright killing them. If he was very lucky he could keep the victims of the disaster alive and comatose until they were healed enough to survive on their own, forgoing months of pain and suffering. Maybe he'd stash them in the mirror dimension, deep in a healing trance... he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.
It would take months, possibly years of recovery, but possibility of saving them and thus Danny (and hence the world) was an acceptable risk.
Meanwhile, Danny, protected from the explosion by his powers, would still need a mentor.
With no family to speak of and no friends able to take him in, Stephen saw two possible outcomes.
One, let Vladimir Masters, AKA Vlad Plasmius take custody of Danny Fenton, rip apart his being upon request, wherein their two ghost halves would combine and ultimately cause the downfall of humankind.
Or, alternately, adopt the teen in himself.
There was never really any choice in the matter. Danny Fenton was coming to New York.
To be continued? Plot desperately needed. Seriously, I'd love to continue this but I have no idea where it's going or what's happening or anything. To put things in perspective, I don't even know what genre this fic is. My thought process was essentially "a Doctor Strange x Danny Phantom crossover would be AWESOME!" And then I wrote this.
