Heya folks. MintyFeet here. As you might have noted, the previous chapter ended rather abruptly - this is because Parallel Processing won't be receiving any further updates.

However, the story is not over. Parallel Processing's story continues in a rewrite / reboot, Parallel Instances(which is currently sitting at ~35k words at the time of writing this blurb.) Thanks to the, ah, time-travel shenanigans we've been witnessing, I actually have the luxury of being able to rewrite the story, and keeping it all in continuity. New readers can get into Parallel Instances without prior knowledge - but for you readers who've stuck with this since its inception, you'll have a more informed view of the story and will be able to pick up on details and differences that won't mean as much to newcomers.

So: why am I cancelling ParaPro, and rebooting the story?

Recently, I did a full re-read of Parallel Processing and was horrified to find that much of the story was incredibly inconsistent in terms of details, terminology, tone, narrative flow and general worldbuilding. This can mainly attributed to "early installment weirdness," and more egregiously a serious lack of planning on my part regarding certain details which would become central to the plot and the characters. I won't lie, many of the details which would become critical to the narrative weren't conceived until much later than would have been optimal, and in many cases I had to write myself out of corners, etc.

Far, far more egregiously, there was also not nearly enough planning done in terms of character development. I challenge any of the readers of Parallel Processing, as an example, to describe characters who were supposed to be important, like, Jane and KN, as "developed" or "fleshed out." Parallel Processing was billed as a Titanfall / ME crossover, and yet, Nihlus & company received so much more time and attention that for all the stuff written from their POV, Jane, KN and other Alliance folks are bland and one-dimensional. A lot of narrative details and character development have been re-written for Parallel Instances with the intention of making a more consistent story which flows better - and one which, ultimately, is just more enjoyable to read in the long run.

Thank you very much for reading Parallel Processing, and I hope to see you in Parallel Instances.
