Secrets, Lies and Discovering Truths-Part 80:
As soon as she had appeared in the fireplace at Malfoy Manor Draco has whisked her away to the gardens. The flowers were now fully out and he was desperate to show her the Rose Garden and the roses that had been planted for her and his mother.
"The Gardens are so pretty. Are we having the party out here?" she asked Draco as her Peacock came forwards and she stroked it's head.
"That is the plan and the festivities will last most of the day apparently. Mother and Father are talking in rather hushed voices about things and Dobby and the House Elves have been banned from saying anything about it all."
"I'm not surprised considering my mum and Newt have been the same and Auntie Leta had to stop Auntie Queenie letting too much slip. Whatever it is I don't think it's just a normal birthday party," Lydia said and Draco instantly nodded in agreement.
"Good evening Grandmothers, Grandfathers," Draco said as he walked into the parlor with Lydia that night.
"Good evening Lord and Lady Black and Lord and Lady Malfoy," Lydia said instantly curtsying as she hadn't remembered meeting Lucius' parents before.
"So you are the child," Lucius' mother said, "I am Priscilla and this is Abraxas."
"How do you do Lord and Lady Malfoy?" Lydia asked as she looked at them.
"Please Lydia call us by our first names. Considering the circumstances I feel that first name terms would be best from now on," Priscilla said, "I am well thank you. It's a pleasure to finally meet you after hearing so much about you from Druella. We also know about the blood potion and will keep it a secret."
"Thank you," Lydia said before Narcissa held her arms open and she walked into her arms and was them pulled onto her lap and smiled as they drank the tea that had been provided for them before Draco and Lydia and Draco went to bed and the adults remained up late into the night talking about things and wondering how the children would react in the morning.
The morning dawned and Lydia and Draco had been told to stay in the library for the morning and that didn't dampen the spirits of the children and they picked a book and soon began to get lost in the story that was being written on the page. They had no idea about the chaos and carnage that was being created in the Gardens and everywhere for their joint birthday party or the bombshell that their mothers were about to drop on them. Dobby kept bringing them refreshments and that was fine as the elf knew exactly what to bring them.
Eventually a voice broke them from their reading.
"Grandmother Priscilla," Draco said, marking his page in his book and then closing it and rose from his seat and then Lydia did the same before being told that it was time for them to get ready. Draco nodded and headed to his room and Priscilla, much to Draco's worry went to help Lydia.
"Now Narcissa has told me all about the way you love your hair so we will do that after we have got you dressed," Priscilla said before she turned around so Lydia could get changed into the dress before Priscilla did her zip up, "Now you have to wear these tights. Now won't rip them or put holes in them as there is a charm on there to prevent that. Then we shall put your shoes on and do your hair," she said before beginning to help Lydia with her tights and then her sandals with the small heals before sitting her down.
"Why isn't Narcissa doing this with me? She normally does…" Lydia said as she bit her lip, "sorry. I don't mean to offend you," she said instantly.
"Oh nonsense Lydia. Narcissa is just busy finishing something off and asked me to seeing how I am… similar to her," Priscilla said and smiled as she finished curling the 11-year-old's hair before turning as she heard a knock on the door and Draco walked in.
"Ready?" he asked.
"She is now. We'd better get you two downstairs now," Priscilla said before she began to lead the way downstairs and then over to the French doors that led out into the Gardens.
The first thing the two children noticed was a trail of fairy lights that had obviously been placed for Lydia and then they were told to push the doors open and then came the gasps as they saw their family and Draco saw his friends and instantly looked for Lydia's friends and couldn't see them there.
Lydia hadn't noticed as Narcissa and Tina were soon walking up the stairs to them and Lydia gasped as her mum looked beautiful and she smiled at the mothers.
"Can we go down and see everyone now?" Draco asked and soon the two were talking to Draco's friends before Lydia saw her father arriving with…
"Harry, Ron, Hermione!" she said rushing over to then and hugging them tightly. Luckily she didn't hear Lucius warning everyone to be nice to the Trio as they were there for Lydia. Druella went to turn up her nose but she soon stopped as she saw how happy the girl was at her friends being there.
It was interesting for the adults to watch the Slytherin students sharing blankets with the Gryffindor students. There were tensions there but clearly they were all trying to get along for Lydia and Draco's sakes.
"We should tell them now," Narcissa said to Tina, "I still can't believe that you managed to get Remus to agree to this."
"I'm just as surprised as you Narcissa but he even admitted that he can't stand in the way of this," Tina said before Remus came over to join Tina and Lucius and Narcissa.
"When are we telling them?" he asked as he sat down.
"Now. I'm just going to get them," Tina said before rising to her feet and heading over to the group of children, "Draco and Lydia I need you to come with me now." The two looked confused but they went with Tina and then saw the parents waiting for them. Draco stood with his parents and Lydia settled on Narcissa's lap.
"What's going on?" Lydia asked as she looked at her parents and Newt who had joined them from behind and then her eyes went back to Narcissa.
"Well us four and Newt, as he is your stepfather, have all sat down and agreed that this is the best way to proceed," Narcissa said before pulling out a piece of parchment, "This is a marriage contract that has been signed by the four of us to say that when you are both of age that you two will be able to marry," she explained.
"Married?!" Lydia said at the same time Draco did.
"You two are soulmates and nothing will change that so we have decided to have this drawn up," Lucius said before Lydia slid off her mother's lap and rushed to Narcissa and hugged her tightly and the blonde hugged her back and held her close and smiled softly.
"There's more," Tina said, "Newt and I are going to be travelling over the summer and we are going to be taking you with us," she told Lydia before watching as her face fell and then her bottom lip wobbled.
"We will use the mirror," Narcissa said, "and when it's possible Draco and I will come and see you. We will make this work but you have to take this chance," she said and Lydia nodded softly.
"When do we go mum?" she asked.
"After the party," Tina replied, "I hate doing this to you but Newt has to be somewhere tomorrow and we want to get settled tonight."
Lydia nodded before she hurried off with Draco and grabbed some food, going and sitting back down and then beginning to eat, enjoying the last few hours she had before the separation from Draco and Narcissa.
All too soon it was time for Newt, Tina and Lydia to head off and there were tearful goodbyes but a new chapter was starting for Lydia. She kissed Draco's cheek and then he vanished from sight. Her summer adventures were about to begin.
