HPFC's OTP SWAP : LoveNeverDies78 with the pairing Sirius/Marlene :)

~chapter 1~

Marlene was a go-getter. She wasn't the type of girl that stood around waiting for a guy to notice her.

"Hey Sirius. Wanna go out?" Marlene said one morning as they were all eating at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall.

Sirius did a double-take and looked over at the pretty brunette with a Cheshire smile and large blue eyes. "Are you talking to me?" Sirius asked while pointing at his chest.

Marlene rolled her eyes. "Of course I am, doofus. Does it look like anyone else is called 'Sirius' at this table?" She paused to laugh and her friends laughed too. Sirius could be rather thick-headed despite how fit looking and handsome he was.

"So are you going to Hogsmeade or not?" she asked, trying to seem casual. Though really every time Sirius stared at her eyes, she felt something kick inside her.

"Sure." Sirius grinned and ate a big spoonful of waffle or pudding or whatever he was eating. Sirius ate like a pig. (Oink. Oink. And he acted like one too.)

"I'll go with you." Sirius winked. "But don't expect any freebies, Marlene. Since I got kicked out of my parent's house, I don't have any money."

"Except for the pocket-change he gets off James," Peter laughed cruelly.

Sirius's cheeks turned a bit red and he scowled.

Marlene, however, found it adorable that the great and once rich heir of the Black family was now penniless.

She smiled even wider and scooted closer in her seat towards him. "Don't worry, Sirius, I like it better this way."

"Why would you like that?"

She winked right back at him. "So you know I don't like you for your money, and I can pay for you. How does that sound?"

"Err," Sirius pulled self-consiocusly at collar. "It makes me feel a bit like a bought man, to be truthful, but, er, I like it!" His boyish, mischievious grin, lit up his features and Marlene felt butterflies in her stomach.

That was the beginning of their first date.

(Of course, there were whispers about Sirius being asked by Marlene and becoming a bought-date and other jokes, but Marlene didn't mind. She just was looking forward to being with Sirius and having fun at Hogsmeades. People could talk all they like, she hadn't done anything wrong by asking a guy out instead of waiting.)
