HAPPY HALLOWEEN! This chapter was originally something I conceptualized for a small Halloween fic contest me and my friends had a few years back, and since I never got the chance to make it as good as I wanted (since there was a word limit) I figured I could remake it for a little holiday special. I hope you enjoy!

Halloween Special - The Deadly Sin of Greed

Most kids absolutely love Halloween, and why wouldn't they? You get to go out, explore on a cold night with cool decorations everywhere you look, people in all sorts of costumes all around, and of course, the candy! Trick or Treating is hard for anyone NOT to enjoy!

Of course, there are always those who find problems with it…

"I can't believe we've been out here for two hours and barely got anything" Trunks whined, plodding down the street with his partner in crime beside him. "We've practically hit the entire city, and this is all we have to show for it?"

Anyone else who heard the conversation would have snorted at the ridiculousness of it all. It did seem that the lavender haired kid was being beyond sarcastic at the moment, after all, his bag was stuffed with so many sweets that it was almost the size of the kid himself! Although anyone privy to Saiyan appetite, even that of demi Saiyans, could tell where the kid was coming from with his complaints.

This wasn't an isolated complaint either. Every year since he had started going Trick or Treating, he had complained about the apparent tiny portions that they ended up with at the end of the night. He tried to convince his chaperones to let them fix that, but…

"Why does Gohan get to decide what we're allowed to do anyways" Trunks griped. "Doesn't he know how much it blows only getting this much candy? Didn't he ever go Trick or Treating?"

"But we lived in the mountains, Trunks" Goten pointed out. "There weren't any other houses. And Gohan told me he never flew to any cities to go anyways." Of course, it wasn't for lack of trying. Gohan had told him a few times that he had wanted to experience it when he was younger, but there was just never the time for it. He was too young, studying, training for some world ending apocalypse, and by the time they finally had a peaceful enough life to allow for the time to go out and try it, he felt he was too old to go out and experience it.

Trunks snorted. "Yeah, I can't really see him doing it either, now that I think about it. Dad told me he was always such a nerd when he was our age."

"Hey, Gohan's not a nerd!" Goten protested.

"C'mon, he's a total nerd!" Trunks maintained.

"Gohan has a cooler costume than you!" Goten countered.

Trunks glanced back at the small group following them. Gohan, Videl, and his older self were all following them, far enough back to let them have some fun on their own, but close enough to keep an eye on them. And while his future self wasn't dressed up, the other two were.

Videl had spent some money to make sure everyone who wanted one got a cool costume, even Goten and Trunks, making her an instant favorite in Trunks' books. He understood why Goten loved her so much now, she was really cool.

Gohan had his hair slicked down, with blue contacts in and wearing a fancy looking school uniform. The coolest part were two little sparks of blue flame coming out of his hair like horns. He had no idea how that was done, but it wasn't real fire. Certainly looked convincing through. And the replica sword on his back was pretty cool too. He had no idea who he was supposed to be, and neither did Gohan, not at first anyways. Since he had a sheltered life, he didn't know a ton, and he let Videl choose a costume for him. Apparently he looked like someone from a show Videl liked to watch.

Videl apparently dressed as a character from the same show, with her hair temporarily dyed purple and with two ponytails danging down behind her. She was wearing brown contacts and a similar intricate school uniform. She had a dog following behind her, Bee if he was remembering right. Even Bee was dressed up a bit, with a poofy red ribbon around his neck and an extension making his tail seem much longer, and a few markings around his snout (which she promised would come off the next time he got his face wet).

"Eh, he looks pretty cool, but come on, our outfits are way cooler than those two" Trunks snickered, thumping his bare chest. He wore a tight red leather outfit with silver studs dotting the entire thing. His hair had been gelled up, all spiky like he was a Super Saiyan, but a little different, and he had red contacts in. He even added a temporary tattoo of a giant scar going down his neck to complete the look. "I'm sure our show is cooler than whatever they're going for too."

Goten nodded. "Yeah, nothing's cooler than the sins!" he piped. His mom didn't like him watching the Seven Deadly Sins, saying it wasn't something appropriate for kids. He didn't know why, Buu was a lot scarier and more disturbing than anything that show did. He made sure not to watch it at home to not make her mad, but whenever he was over at Trunks' place, they watched it a lot.

His hair was the hardest to get down, since the wild style didn't allow for any sort of wig, but between him and Trunks, they worked something out. By going Super Saiyan, he got his eyes green and his hair blonde without needing contacts or anything, and after that, it only took four bottles of hair gel to get it more or less looking like the main character of the show. Throwing on a white tunic and black vest with a red tie, and the sword prop hanging off of his back to complete the image, they were the spitting image of Ban and Meliodas. Best friends always getting into trouble together, it fit perfectly.

"But that doesn't mean that you're right about Gohan, he's totally cool" Goten still fought.

Trunks sighed, rolling his eyes. "Fine, whatever, I guess" he huffed. He had to admit, Gohan's costume was pretty cool, but his girlfriend (she had to be his girlfriend by now) picked it out for him. He didn't even know what he was wearing until he got told. "I guess he's not a complete nerd nowadays. He definitely was before your dad came back though."

At this point, Goten seemed to realize he wasn't getting anywhere with Trunks, and sufficed for sticking his tongue out at the older one of them before pouting. "Anyways, back to the important stuff" Trunks said, shrugging off the response. "We need way more candy than this. This isn't even going to last us a week."

"But we don't have a lot of houses left to hit" Goten pointed out. "You said so yourself, we already went to almost the entire city, and Gohan won't let us go to West City tonight."

West City was where they usually Trick or Treated, for a number of reasons. His mom was busy didn't like going very far, and his dad was… not someone who was up for something like that. Plus, people were usually richer in West City, which meant more and bigger candy (still not enough to satisfy them, but it was better).

But since this year, Gohan was taking them, Trunks really wanted to try going somewhere new, so he convinced Gohan to take them to Satan City instead. Because the place where the apparent 'world savior' lived had to be a candy hot spot, right?

Well, that was the hope…

He didn't take into account all the stories he heard about all the crime and damage going on here, not to mention the fact that the place was practically half leveled recently. While it wasn't terrible, it was noticeably less than they had been scoring over the years roaming West City.

"If we could just get away from those guys for a bit…" Trunks muttered to himself. He had a plan this year, one that would work regardless of which city they were in, but he had no doubt that Gohan would stop them from doing it. "You guys are getting more than most kids ever get since you can fly to hit the entire city, be happy with what you've got and let everyone else have some too" he had tried to explain to them. Trunks wasn't so greedy that he didn't see where Gohan was coming from… but that didn't change that this was WAY too little for them! Maybe if he had stuck to his guns and stayed in West City he would have been well enough off, but no, he employed his sense of exploration to make the decision for him.

"Why don't we just hide if you need to get away from them?" Goten asked.

"Dummy" Trunks said, flicking Goten's arm. "Your brother has that stupid sharp ki sense, he'd find us in seconds. Honestly, you live with him, how do you not know that?"

Rubbing the spot where Trunks flicked him, Goten frowned. "I dunno, I just don't usually think about stuff like that with Gohan."

"Well start thinking about it, otherwise he'll catch us way too easily" Trunks scolded.

"Catch us with what?" Goten questioned.

"If we get away from your brother, I'll tell you…" he muttered, glancing over his shoulder to look at the group behind them. Videl had her phone to her ear, having a conversation that he couldn't make out, while Gohan looked at her confusedly. Future Trunks just seemed to be content to look at all the decorations up and down the street, but they had noticeably slowed down. "And we might have a chance now" he said with a smirk. "C'mon Goten, if we move fast, we might-"

"Hey, boys!" Gohan called out. "Come here for a second."

"...Crap" Trunks swore.

"Do you think he heard you?" Goten wondered as they turned back towards Gohan.

"What do you think he is, Piccolo?" Trunks pointed out. "Nah, but this can't be good."

They walked over to Gohan as a cold breeze wafted through the area. Trunks shivered a bit, his outfit leaving a lot of him exposed to the elements, making him slightly jealous that Goten's costume had him both Super Saiyan and fully covered, no risk of getting chilly there.

"What's up Gohan?"

"Is something wrong big brother?"

Gohan shook his had. "Nah, nothing's wrong" he said. "I just wanted to tell you guys that we'll be leaving soon, and I need to go do something real quick."

Videl stood off to the side, waiting patiently. "Erasa's holding a little party for us, and wants us to be there in time for a movie that's coming on" she explained. "And it's coming on in just a little bit here."

"I'm gonna fly Videl over then come back to make sure you two get home" Gohan finished up. "And Trunks…" he said, looking back at the young man tagging along. "You know you're still invited, right? Mai too if you want."

"Thanks Gohan, but really, we're fine staying in tonight" Trunks waved him off.

"Alright then…" Gohan said, looking back at the two in front of him. "Anyways, you two can finish up hitting any remaining houses you want to go to while I take Videl home. Just stay out of trouble, alright? No leaving the city or anything."

Trunks rolled his eyes, silently cheering inside. "Yeah, sure, whatever" he huffed, masking his excitement.

"Alright Gohan" Goten chirped in response.

Gohan nodded. "Alright, I'm trusting you guys to stick to that" he said. "I'll be back soon."

Without any further delay, the trio walked around the corner, into a nondescript alleyway, before taking to the sky, out of sight within moments. Once out of earshot, Trunks let out a triumphant laugh. "This is perfect!" he cheered. "Come on, Goten, we don't have any time to lose!" he said, grabbing his friend by the arms and leading him into a nearby park.

Once they were sufficiently hidden, Trunks began rummaging around in the bottom of his bag of sweets. "Come on, I know I brought it in here somewhere" he said, reaching further in. When his hand brushed up against fabric different than the bag itself, he smiled. "There we are!" he said, whipping the object out with a flourish.

The object was a pure white outfit, rather floppy looking. Goten cocked his head, staring at it. "Is that a new costume?" he asked. "It looks familiar."

"Well it should" Trunks said, taking the outfits pieces apart. "It's Mighty Mask's costume, after all."

"What?" Goten asked, looking closer. "But it's all white, and it looks a lot smaller!"

"Well, the last part was an accident" he admitted. "I had mom sew it back up after 18 cut it, and I was gonna wash it so I could give it back to him." He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "I thought clothes shrinking in the wash was just something from cartoons…" he muttered.

He shook it off. "Anyways, it was too small now, so I didn't return it, but I started thinking about how we could get more candy this year. I bleached it white so it looked like a ghost costume, and came up with a plan to double our candy."

"Mmm…" Goten hummed. "Uh, Trunks, doesn't one extra costume mean only one of us get extra candy?"

"Like I said Goten, I've got a plan" Trunks said with a confident smirk, jumping a few feet away from Goten before sticking his arms out to the side. "Come on, you know the drill" he said.

Seeing his stance, Goten nodded, taking the same one. "Fuuuuuuu, sion, HA!" the two cried out, moving together and merging into one being. A gust flattened the grass around them as Gotenks touched down in the park. After looking around to make sure no one was nearby, he began summoning his power.

"This plan… it's perfect" he smirked, half complimenting himself. Before he put the outfit on, there was something he had to do. Opening his mouth wide, a blob of white matter began squeezing itself out of his throat. Spitting it out, the blob began taking shape, turning into a pale replica of its creator.

As the ghost was forming, Gotenks slipped the bleached and shrunk outfit on, and peeled away the second and third bag that made up Trunks' sack of candy. It was triple layered, his older half had truly been planning this. Grabbing them, he turned around, holding one out to the fully formed Super Ghost. "You got the plan, right?"

"Yes sir!" the ghost saluted. "Go hit as many houses as I possibly can, don't let anyone touch me, and get a lot of candy!"

"Right!" Gotenks said. He purposely made the ghost with as little power as he could, that way if by some mistake he got touched and couldn't fly away in time, it wouldn't kill anyone. Knock them out flat on their ass, maybe, but they wouldn't lose their life for a mistake. "Go, ghost!" he cheered, as both he and the Super Ghost took off in different directions.

With their fused speed and no chaperone anchoring them down, Gotenks and his dangerous duplicate began plowing through the city, rapidly stuffing their bags as full as possible. It was all candy they had gotten earlier, since they had already visited all the houses, but they were doubling their spoils now.

At one house, there was a group of kids walking up behind Gotenks as he finished up there. He smirked, pranks running through his head. As the door closed and the kids approached, he let out a low, ominous chuckle, trying to sound as spooky as possible. Once he had their attention, he let a little bit of his Super Saiyan power slip out, giving him a ghostly glow. Letting a bright flash escape, he darted into the air so fast that their slow human eyes wouldn't be able to follow. He could barely stop himself from rolling over in the sky as the kids bellow screamed and scattered, thinking they had seen an actual ghost. He wiped a tear of joy from his eye as he went to find a new target to fill his bag further.

He had taken to the sky again, after hitting a few more houses, when he felt Gohan's power rapidly getting closer to where he had left them. Not bothering to delay anymore, he ordered his ghost to return to the park as he did the same. It only took a few seconds to return, making sure no one saw him thanks to his super speed.

He had just sat down his sack of candy as the ghost appeared behind him, bearing his own overflowing bag. "I made out like a bandit, boss" the ghost snickered, tossing his own onto the other three.

His face lit up like a christmas tree (or would a jack-o-lantern be a more thematically appropriate metaphor?) as he looked down on their spoils. Each bag was nearly as big as he was, and he could feel his two halves practically salivating as they each got to take two. He grabbed a piece of victory candy off of the top, a tootsie roll, and popped it into his mouth. "This is so damn awesome!" he cheered. "So much candy!"

His ghost couldn't help but feel his excitement, twirling in the air. "Candy's the best!" he agreed. "Even that fat pink blob couldn't resist it."

"Hah, yeah!" Gotenks cheered, high fiving his partner in crime in his excitement. A bright glow an instant later brought him crashing back down to reality. "Uh oh…"

The ghost detonated, a little more strongly than Gotenks had thought he would have, given the amount of power he had been given. The ground was seared, grass burning up, as the trees groaned from the force of the explosion. Gotenks was blackened, coughing up a cloud of soot, before in a flash of light, he defused, Goten and Trunks falling to the ground, no Mighty Mask costume left intact to keep them together.

"Well that sucked" Trunks groaned, standing up. Luckily, since they had been fused, their costumes from Videl were still intact. He still managed to smile. "But it worked, right? After all, look at all of our ca-"

The words died in his throat as he turned around to view their spoils. A pit settled in his stomach, as where the mountain of candy once stood, only left a few scraps of charcoal colored fabric, the remnants of a bag. He fell to his knees. "Our… our candy…" he whispered, picking up the scrap of fabric.

Goten was similarly in shock from the event. "Trunks… you said the plan was perfect" he said, on the verge of tears.

"It was!" Trunks protested. "Stupid stupid fusion being stupid…"

"You know, if you guys would work on being more serious, Gotenks would be more serious too" a familiar voice drawled out.

The two whipped around to see Gohan standing there, looking down on them. Trunks swallowed hard. "D-Don't tell Mom?" he begged.

Gohan shook his head. "Nah, I won't tell anyone, I think you guys got punished enough as is" he said, a glint of humor in his eyes. "Though you'll need a good excuse to tell them why you don't have any candy to bring home with you, because knowing you two, that's gonna be one heck of a red flag."

Goten and Trunks blushed as they became very interested in their shoes. They didn't argue as Gohan told them it was time to go and they took to the air, flying back towards West City, cold air stinging Trunks' face.

"Maybe next year, you guys should be happy with what you get, because it seems like getting greedy is what caused this to happen" Gohan called back.

Glancing over at his friend, Goten raised his eyebrows. "Trunks, aren't you dressed up as-"

"Don't, Goten, just don't" Trunks muttered as they flew home. He didn't need any more irony to make him feel deeper in his own grave than he already did.

For anyone who hasn't watched the amazing anime/read the amazing manga that is The Seven Deadly Sins/Nanatsu no Taizai, Trunks was dressed as Ban, a character known as the Deadly Sin of Greed. Yes, I'm a nerd, you know this by now. I had to give everyone costumes based on anime that I enjoyed. On that note, I've got a cookie for anyone who recognizes what anime the costumes Videl had for her, Gohan, and Bee came from, I didn't mention what it was on purpose.

I hope you all enjoyed my little Halloween special. It wasn't anything major, just a fun little story I came up with a while back, revamped from when I came up with it originally.

Not else much to say. Happy Halloween everyone!
