Hello everyone. I'm back from a year long hiatus. I know it's been a while, but I would like to say thank you to each and everyone of you for your support and messages that you left for me. I can honestly say, your encouragement saved me. I was so sad and depressed after what happened last year, that I was scared every day would be my last.
Though slowly, I began to find myself again. I moved to a new place, then back to my hometown. I lost old friends but found new ones. I discovered a strength in me, that I wasn't even aware that I had. I become stronger through the pain.
I would personally like to thank CLTex, ThelonewolfNT, julian018, francisvirus, Guest, kai-baekyun98, BlueEyedSalvatore, Nina3KPop, and Princess of Mirkwood for your kind reviews, and encouraging words.
I would also like to thank jeffhardyluvsme, LunaWolfSunTigress15, Squishy97, and bella315 for your P. M's. I know I didn't get to all of you, and for that I'm sorry. I was at loss for what to say to your kindness, but know I read them, and cherished each of them, going back consistently over the past year to read them repeatedly.
You know, I found a real supportive community in the Fanfiction world. And even though all of us can nerd out about G.O.T., we can get serious when life gets serious, and we look out for one another. This was so evident the past year and a half.
There is one more person I would love to thank though, and that is darkwolf76.
This author is the epitome of a phenomenal woman, and what it means for women to help other women. She messaged me constantly and sought me out outside of our fandom. She was there when things got rough, and when things started to get better. She listened to me rant about my ex, and even losing old friends, and gave me stellar advice along the way. If you are reading this, know that I am so incredibly thankful for the hand of friendship you've extended. You are a selfless, kind, patient, and amazing woman, and to be honest, I don't believe I could have survived last year without having some like you in my corner. From the bottom of my heart, thank you…. thank you so much. And to those who don't know who this amazingly wonderful person is, I encourage you all to read her story, Defying Demons. It's so well-written, well executed, with an amazing plot, and has a Robb romance to die for. To those that have not read this incredible fanfiction, I urge you to do so right now and leave a review for my girl lol. I'm telling you, you will not be sorry to have read this, it really is an amazing story.
So, in short, thank you for saving me. You all truly have been a blessing.
Now, this is a short chapter, very short, and will introduce a character I've dying to write about for a while. So, please, read and review, or just read lol whatever tickles your fancy.
Copyright Claim: I own nothing, as sad as that may be. Only my boy George owns G.O.T…..though I do own the Pyralis Clan and their associates. :D
3rd P.O.V. King's Landing
She was standing on the balcony, her hands wrested on the stone railing that kept her from falling several hundred feet. In one hand gripped a letter, detailing the rise of a young Phoenix in the North.
Flicking back one of her long golden tresses over her shoulder, the Queen rolled her eyes as she recounted what she had read.
The young girl was to have a nameday celebration, with some of the country's most noble families in attendance. She was to dress up in fine gowns and parade herself around so that she could catch the eye of a suitor- preferably a first-born suitor- who would then ask the Stark's if he could court her.
Turning away from the balcony that overlooked the city, the Queen felt the breeze rustle her red ornate gown as she walked away to go sit at table in her quarters.
Pitiful.
The whole thing as pitiful, as were the obvious attempts that Catelyn Tully had made to hold up her ward in the highest esteem.
As she took her seat, and with the flick of a wrist sent away a serving girl who had only come in to bring the Queen her meal, Cersei sat back and thought for a moment.
She thought back to the time when Jaime and she had been separated for several months when they were children, as he was forced to go to the dreadful holdfast of Riverrun- without her. All because her father, the Great and Mighty Tywin Lannister, wanted to start early on to curry favor to the Pyralis' of Highgarden.
Cersei pursed her pink lips in disdain as she remembered those nights without her brother, and how she threw a week long fit before he left, because she would not be allowed to go with him.
The Great and Mighty Tywin Lannister was a fool. A great big proud fool.
He was supposed to be fearsome and terrifying, and yet he sent his eldest son to acquaint himself with Seraphine.
If anything, she should have been sent to Lannisport.
Or so she thought, though now as woman instead of as a scornful child, Cersei could see what Tywin was doing.
Still, she hated thinking about those nights and days she was separated from her twin.
Oh, the fun Cersei would have had with that idiot Seraphine if she was sent her way.
That girl came from a family of freaks that kept birds, as the Lannister's kept gold. She came from a family that had descended from slaves, already making her innately inferior to Cersei, who descended from kings herself. Seraphine's family never wore shoes and associated in an intimate manner with the common folk- the Lannister's could easily have shoes made for them, for the sole purpose on stepping on those beneath them. Not to mention the whole practice of inbreeding her family took part in, and the absolute nonsense that surrounded Seraphine when the war came about.
Cersei popped a green grape in her mouth, chewing the juicy morsel as she thought more about the girl people had claimed was more beautiful than she was.
A sly smile pulled at the corner of her lips.
Seraphine Pyralis, she could have had it all.
The kingdom, the Prince, riches beyond her wildest dreams. And power. All the power in the world.
But instead, she died.
She died after failing to play the Game of Thrones.
And now Cersei, who always came second to the beautifully vivacious Seraphine Pyralis, was Queen. The most beautiful queen, with the most power, and Seraphine would continue to be food for the worms.
Glancing her green eyes down to the letter, she thought about how Robert spent the day angry at the news of the party. Anything to make Robert angry, even the slightest thing to get a hold over him, was something she would be interested in.
And this girl, the one who had been the daughter of Cersei's greatest ire growing up, was just the thing.
This poor simple girl, the one who was reported to have worked as a servant, had no idea just what was in store for her.
She's been keeping a close eye on her for years now, and now that she held the attention of the country, for as small as this time would be, it will soon be right to make a move. Everybody knew her name, the name of the daughter of Rowtag and Seraphine.
And what would be greater revenge on both that idiot husband of hers and the dead girl she hated, than to use her for her own pleasure and plans?
Seraphine Pyralis wasn't here to protect her daughter. It almost made her want to laugh with excitement.
Pouring herself some Dornish Red, Cersei took a sip. Taking a small brass bell, Cersei rang it.
The serving girl that had previously left, came back in and curtsied.
Cersei didn't even look at her as she took another sip of her wine and popped another grape in her mouth.
"Tell the dressmaker to tailor two new gowns, by tomorrow morning. Complete with embroidery and embellishments. If it isn't done by then, inform her that she had better learn how to sew with her mouth, for she will not have hands if it is not complete."
The serving girl paled and nodded. "Yes, Your Majesty. Anything else, Ma'am?"
Cersei stood up and said, "No, that is all."
The girl silently curtsied, and walked out, as shaky a leaf.
The dressmaker should have the measurements before the girl walked over to meet her.
Cersei sat back as she cut into her quail, putting a slice of the bird into her mouth, devouring it slowly.
Ophelia Pyralis, the Last Phoenix.
An infamous name that everyone now knew, in all the Seven Kingdoms. A name, though the girl did not yet know it, would prove to be very useful.
And very dangerous.
How unfortunate for her.
What a stupid name, for a stupid girl.
How opportune this was, indeed.
Just as Tywin made Jaime do, she would gain favor with the Stark's ward, and it would all play out from there.
Oh, what fun this would be.
Taking another sip, the Lioness ate the rest of the solitary bird that was on her platter.
Let the games begin.
There you have it! A new chapter, though not as long. Next Chapter: Definitely the courtship between Ophelia and Torrhen.
