The Heart and the Mind
Deep within the forest quiet,
Belly un-full, from meatless diet,
To meditate, I surely try,
But something lurks in my mind's eye.
…
Her face is there, as if a dream,
In my mind from others, she's unseen.
Saphira suspects, I do suppose,
But does mind follow where heart goes?
…
My ears hear the sound of birds,
Part of me calls this absurd.
My heart whispers to give it trust,
But is this love or is this lust?
…
With a start I do awake,
Lust or love I can't forsake.
But I keep myself upon the dirt,
Asking myself what I'm worth.
…
So once again I meditate,
Feelings rage in war irate.
For in my mind she is still there,
Gives me hope, gives me despair.
