Written for Hogwarts's Pair the Character Challenge (HarryRon)

Ron has constellation of freckles splattered around his body. Harry doesn't mean to notice but they're all spread out beside the fire in the warmth of the common room and then Ron stretches and Harry can't keep his mouth closed because the freckles extend everywhere.

...

He's never met anyone like Ron before. He's never had a friend, period, until Ron showed up in his compartment with a sheepish grin and a useless rat.

But now he does and they're best friends and they've faced basilisk and werewolfs and blood purists together, faces set and back to back.

Harry doesn't want this to end.

Ron doesn't mean to stare but he can't help himself because it's Harry. Sure, he has a boatload of excuses in case someone catches him but so far no one has and he's free to stare because Harry has dimple when he grins and eyes like Avada Kedavra.

Ron thinks he wouldn't mind dying like that.

On the days Ron thinks of the past, his mouth goes dry and his eyes get big and he can barely breathe.

He's never been anyone special, just the last and least cool brother, a chess player compared to a curse breaker and a dragon tamer and a joke shop owner.

He's no one important until Harry comes along and then all of a sudden he's a best friend and a partner-in-crime and bloody hell, he never wants this to end.

"How long do you think it'll take them to realize?" Ginny asked Hermione idly, watching Harry and Ron stare at each other while pretending not to.

Hermione snorted. "Boys are clueless. Probably forever."

Ginny sighed and willed them to hurry up and admit their feelings. She couldn't afford to lose her bet with the twins.
