THE TURNING POINT

Summary: What if Doug ignores Chad and sits with the VKs after Family Day

After the disastrous events at Lunch, the VKs sat at a table feeling alone and isolated. Doug came up to the table and stood next to Evie.

"Listen, evie, I wanna talk about earlier today. I just..." He was cut off by a shout from the next table.

"Doug!" It was Chad. Doug glanced at him than back at Evie.

"It's my fault, Doug. I'm sorry" Evie whispered. Doug shook his head.

"No, It's mine" he said.

"Doug!" Chad said louder, but Doug ignored him.

"I should have stood up for you"

"Doug!" Chad insisted.

"What!" Doug snapped, turning to glare at Chad. Everyone was taken aback.

"What are you doing?" Chad asked, frowning.

"Talking to my girlfriend" Doug snapped. "Now leave me alone" He sat down at the table across from Evie. Ben stopped by and kissed Mal on the cheek then left. as soon as he did, Audrey and Jane came up behind her.

"How long does she think that's gonna last?" Audrey asked. "Mal is just the bad girl infatuation"

"Yeah. I mean, he's never gonna make a villain a queen" Jane said snidely. Before Mal could respond, Doug jumped up.

"What is wrong with you?" he demanded. The girls turned to look at him. "Jane, Mal gave you gorgeous hair and now you betray her to try and be cool. As far as I'm concerned, the villains aren't the ones sitting at this table" Jane's cheeks turned red from embarrassment. Chad stood up.

"Come on Doug, you know who their parents are"

"Yeah, I do, and all four of them have been nicer to me than any of you have" Doug snapped back. "I get left out all the time because I'm a nerd, I'm in band, I'm not strong, you guys only talk to me if you want help with homework or to badmouth them. Evie talks to me because she wants to spend time with me, Carlos asks me to go on walks with him and Dude, Jay offered to teach me self defense and Mal always says Hi to me, instead of walking past me like I'm invisible" Everyone was silent until Chad opened his big mouth.

What would your Aunt Snow think about you dating the Evil Queen's daughter?" he asked snidely. Doug's eyes narrowed to slits and his glare sent chills up Chad's spine. No one had ever seen Doug this angry.

"Its interesting that you would bring her into this, since I received a letter from her just this morning" Doug reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out the letter. He began reading out loud.

Dear Doug,

I received your letter about your new girlfriend and I couldn't be happier. It warms my heart to know my sister is in good hands. Fairy godmother told me about what happened on family day, if I was a few weeks from giving birthday I would have come in person and apologized to Evie on behalf of my godson. his actions were uncalled as were the actions of that twit of a princess he is currently dating. I always thought Ben could do better, and I think Mal may be just what he needs. Now, make sure to tell Chad that i am insulted at his insinuation that children raised by Villains are automatically evil. has he forgotten that Evie's mother raised me? Cindy has informed me that she will be speaking to her son, I imagine those kids will get an apology before the week is out. I would like to see a picture of my sister, if you could send me one, I would appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Snow.

Doug folded the paper and stuck it back in his pocket.

"Now, I am going to spend time with my friends, and you are going to stop harrassing them, or I will get my entire family to back me up" he said, glaring at Chad. Since Doug had six uncles, and several cousins, Chad backed down and Doug turned to the VKs. "Lets get out of here" He replied. Before they left, Mal turned to Jane.

"I'm sorry you think you have to be cruel to fit in. Maybe you don't deserve those locks. Beware, Forswear, undo Jane's hair" together they walked over as the other students laughed at Jane.
