It was harder to tell with Bakugou, but years of knowing Midoriya had to have left its mark somehow.
Kirishima was the one to finally notice, one evening when he had managed to convince Bakugou to help him cram for an exam the next day. There was much eye rolling and much profanity, but he did, finally, agree.
They had gotten to potential essay questions when it happened. The phrasing of the question (about the laws regarding hero activity) was vague, and where Kirishima read the question as when a hero can act, with or without being specifically called in, Bakugou argued (loudly) that it was about the laws regarding when an action was classed as a Good Samaritan act versus vigilantism.
And then Bakugou hesitated. Stared down at the paper and began to scowl. Lifted the paper up to eye level and scowled (somehow) harder.
Kirishima began to feel a little awkward (hesitating wasn't normally Bakugou's style) before deciding to feel slightly touched that Bakugou felt comfortable enough for that.
He was readying himself to suggest that what they needed was a third opinion, so why not call Kaminari over, when he noticed.
Bakugou's lips were moving, almost unnoticeable and forming words that couldn't be heard as anything other than a soft hiss. If Kirishima hadn't been sitting close, he wouldn't even have heard that.
He bites back a smile. Maybe he should hold off calling Kaminari over.
Midoriya, though.
"Fuck."
It was said softly, and if Yuuei didn't have state of the art equipment then maybe no one would've heard it. But. There it was.
On the screen, Midoriya was running through the halls, keeping just ahead of Bakugou and muttering.
Half of it was plans, and actually rather good ones based off his prior knowledge of Bakugou, but the other half was a long string of, "Shit shit shiiit."
Well, Kirishima figured, if they grew up together that wasn't so weird that he'd pick up Bakugou's foul mouth a bit.
(Later, Tsuyu would talk about being trapped in the shipwreck zone with Midoriya, and how when their planning got cut short Midoriya suddenly said to himself, "What would Kacchan do?" before launching himself off the ship and screaming.
Kirishima thought back to finding himself fighting alongside a surprisingly rational Bakugou, and wondered.)
Notes: So I posted this on ao3 like on July 24 and then. Promptly forgot about uploading it here, and then somehow managed to lose my password so. Better late then never?
