Chapter 13: Sora Rescued, Story ContinuesYes, you may scream at me now. I've just been so lazy... and it's kinda discouraging to know that not only do I think my story sucks, other people do as well, as I can tell from the decreasing reviews...
Disclaimer: I do not own Beyblade. At this point in time, I do not really want to own Beyblade. However, this story - the lousy excuse for a plot and all - belong to me. Do not use without permission. Sora belongs to Anime Fan7 and is used with permission.

Kai gulped awkwardly, as it was an action that he was certainly not accustomed to. He had found Sora. Now all he had to do was wait for the scientist to get out.
As if right on cue, the scientist suddenly found a reason to leave. What that reason was, Kai was unsure of. All he knew was that this was the chance he had been waiting for.
Rushing in, launcher raised, he glanced quickly both ways, as if he were jaywalking across a busy road.
Nothing in particular caught his immediate attention, so he moved on to Sora. There she was, floating inside the tube, with her eyes open just a crack.
Kai checked the control panel nearby, and found nothing that had "let Sora out of test tube" written on it in big letters. Anger rushed through him as he looked up and saw Sora just floating helplessly.
Love was hardly, if ever, logical.
Kai raised his blade and launched straight at the tube, running out to catch Sora, moving away quickly to avoid the falling glass and liquid. He was surprised at how little she weighed. It seemed Sora had lost a lot of weight.
"Come on," he said hoarsely. "Let's get you out of here."
"Kai?" She whispered softly, a slight smile tugging at her lips.
"Sora - ! Shh, you're okay, but we really got to get you out of here..." He held her closer as she struggled, muttering about how she could walk. "No, come on, I'll set you down when we get out!"
"Kai...?"
"Y-Yeah...?"
"Took you long enough," she said teasingly. "You don't make a very good Prince Charming."
"I, uh..." Kai stammered, suddenly thrown off-guard, and as Kai was rarely thrown off-guard, he didn't know how to act. A hint of red entered his cheeks.
"Aww, Kai, I didn't know you could blush!" She started snickering, and when Kai glared at her, she was laughing her head off.
"I wasn't blushing!"
"Riiiiiiiight," Sora said, dragging out the "i" carefully.
"Which way..?" Kai changed the subject.
"Hey, you found your way in. Tell me you can find your way out."
"I can find my way out."
"Okay. Now tell me the truth."
Kai sucked in a breath sharply.
"Hey! HEY YOU!"
Security guards rushed at the source of the voice.
"YOU! BLADER!"
The nearby, spoken-of blader glanced up, confused.
"I challenge you to a beybattle," Dunga yelled loudly, struggling against the security guards' grasps.
The blader, an auburn-haired girl, shrugged. "Why not? Let him go."
Dunga threw a couple elbows and punches at them as they left, attracting a few glares and growls.
"The dish is over here." She gestured.
It was the 'classic dish,' Dunga noted as he stepped up.
"Ready?" The girl asked kindly.
Dunga only nodded in response. If the girl had known him, she would have thought something was wrong, as any ordinary battle, Dunga would be screaming and trash-talking.
However... /This isn't a real beybattle,/ Dunga thought.
"3... 2... 1... LET IT RIP!" The girl cried as they launched their blades into the dish.
While this scene had been taking place, a certain blond-haired Bladebreaker had been sneaking around along the wall unnoticed by the guards or the blader. Max gently tugged at the grating off the heating ducts.
/Won't.. come.. off../ He thought stubbornly.
His fingers tightened around the steel bars, and impatiently, Max pulled on the grating. Hard.
It came off with a crash, Max flying backward from the force of his own power.
He landed on his backside, still holding the grating. "Owie.." He muttered to himself, then, catching a glimpse of what looked suspiciously like a boot, glanced up apprehensively.
"Hi.." Max grinned innocently up at the security guard.
The security guard's eyes narrowed. "Bye."
"So where are the others, anyway?"
Kai replied, staring at another intersection, "They're scattered all around in this building."
"Have you run into anyone?"
"Yeah, Mari-" Kai stopped walking.
"Kai?"
"Mariam," he whispered. "Where's Mariam? She was right behind me.."
"Well, you sure didn't come to my rescue with her.."
Kai set Sora on her feet. "Get out of here," he told her. "I think there's something wrong with Mariam."
"I'm not leaving without you."
"Go!"
"... Kai, if you're not right behind me.."
"I will be."
"You better be." And with that, she took off at full speed, never looking back.
"Now... if I was Mariam, where would I hide?" Kai backtracked a little, but as he reached an intersection, he realised that he wasn't sure which way he had come from.
"This way.... or that way.. was it that way...?"
Kai turned as he heard a noise behind him, and as he turned, a slim figure hidden in shadow skillfully knocked him unconcious.
