82 YEARS INTO THE PAST
Georgios looks in front of him through the large looming hills of the rocky valley. Seeing encampments of both large Mistral and Mantle army. Both were rather large and holding unknown thousands of men.
Many months before this moment the King of Vale contacted Georgios, King of Sparta at the time, requesting that Sparta join the war efforts against Mistral and Mantle. Despite their differences in culture Vale needed Sparta's manpower. Georgios agreed to help knowing that after the war Vale and Vacuo would provide much wanted dust and livestock.
But before Georgios could go to war he needed the blessing of the Ephors.
Ephors having rumored being able to talk to both the God of Light and the God of Darkness.
After a three day walk into the mountains Georgios made back to Sparta with news of war. At the time Sparta was dealing with terrible Slave riots. Therefore could only bring some three thousand men.
Sparta being South of Vacuo started their march along the southern coast through the desert and up north to Vale.
Then that brings us here to the Valley. While about more than halfway to Vale Sparta stumbled along the remains of the forces Vacuo pushed out of their territory. But it seems they have just been re-enforced not that long ago. It seems they mean to make a sneak attack on Vacuo not knowing that Sparta has joined the war yet.
Georgios having seen the army ordered to settle camp in the valley. Three hours after making camp in the valley 4 horses can be seen riding out to the Spartan camp. Georgios and two of his personal bodyguards make their way to meet them.
All four of the horsemen being identifiable by their armor. The right two being Mistral and the left being Mantle. The Mantle man that spoke up first and the way he spoke gave Georgios the impression he was an officer
" Spartan, it seems your camp is set right in the middle of the valley, I would have to ask you respectfully to move it so that my army may pass"
As he said the word "my" Georgios could see the Mistral man presumably an officer as well shoot the Mantle one a quick glance. Georgios responded
" That cannot be possible, my army" he begins with a mocking tone " has marched for a while now and deserves a rest, and that would be right here"
The Mantle man not sensing Georgios's joke is somewhat visibly frustrated with him so he begins again
" The nearest way around your army that's big enough for all of my men is a two days march back and I will be doing no such thing, so now I ask again for you to tell your soldiers to get up, pick up and move he says with an authoritative tone
The Mistral officer now spoke up seeing that this was going no were
" What my ally here is trying to ask is if we may pass Spartan "
Georgios responds with curt and sharp
"No"
All four men stare blankly at Georgios
" What do you mean no?" ask the Mantle officer somewhat off balance with Georgio's reply
" What I mean is my men will stay here and will not be moving and if you do try to pass we will stop you by force "
The Mantle man barks back
" Do you know who you are talking to Spartan ? "
" No "
" You are talking to Clementine Snow of the Mantle kingdom and under the order of the Mantle king I order you to move your men immediately" he yells
Georgios responds
" Well I am Georgios Moon King of Sparta and two weeks ago I entered the war on the side with Vale and Vacuo, against you. So your orders or your king mean nothing Mantle man. So if you want to survive this day you will turn back, or you can attack me and die at the end of my spears"
Clementine goes to draw his sword but the Mistral man stops him grabbing his arm.
" Clementine we do not fight here, we will leave our men for that" he then stares at Georgios " Spartan King Georgios, I am Aadi Amaranth General of the Mistral Kingdom and I urge you to move your men, we outnumber you at least nine to one. It would be a waste of your life and your men to die here today"
Both stare at Georgios awaiting his answer
"Men I don't plan on leaving this spot today or any day as long as you are here, and if you withdraw me and my troops will pursue you until you leave these lands. So I tell you, feel free to die today or any day you are at war with these lands"
Both men stare at him, the first to make a move is the Mantle man scoffing and turning his horse around
"So be it"
The other three soon follow him with the Mistral man leaving giving the Spartan a sorrowful face
As the four dots in the distance return to their camp a large mass of men can be seen starting to run around and form into a huge formation. Over the course of thirty minutes a huge square of men is formed with five more behind it. By that time Georgios had his men march forward two hundred meters and form up across the valley stretching end to end his. His men now being six rows deep.
After seven minutes of the other army marching toward the Spartans they stop some hundred meters in front of them. After a short while any fool would have mistaken the black shimmers in the air for birds. That would be a dead fool thought for it was not a bird. It was arrows and thousands of them.
Georgios yells
"Spartans shields up!"
Within a heart beat the order was followed and the Spartans make cover for their heads for the incoming arrows. After a while they stop, then the ground shakes. As the Spartans lower their shields they see the whole army of both army's charging them, covering the distance in break neck speed. As they come Georgios yells.
"Spartans, form phalanx now!"
And as the Spartans form up shoulder to shoulder the rear bracing the front making a stone wall in this valley to stop the horde coming at them.
As the horde of men come close Georgios braces, knowing whatever happens today he and his men will make history.
As the horde of men clash into the spartan wall many are killed off right away from spears falling and flailing around on the ground screaming only to be trampled over by their comrades. Despite the huge wave of men that crashed into the spartans they held firm.
As the officers of both armies watched the battle from a distance some disbelieve could be seen on their faces. It was quite clear that they were just hoping on an easy victory by charging the spartans and breaking their line.
That could have worked too with the line broken the heavily out numbered spartans would have quickly of been overwhelmed. But as it seems, the spartans are almost as if they were part of the valley themselves.
The clash in between both armies lasted for only ten minutes before the opposing force fell back. While doing so the spartans were harassed by arrows to keep them from chasing which they block by just raising their shields above their heads.
Georgios looks around after the arrow barrage ends and sees that no man has fallen this day. The worst anyone got was a nasty slash across the arm.
Georgios had a quick smile seeing the enemies running back up to the safety of their hill
"Men, we held strong this day! The enemy just now foolishly learning the might of true spartans! We will hold this point until every last one of them dies at the end of our spears!"
After giving a speech to his men Georgios looks at the enemy camp
"Come now then cowards. Fight along side your men so that I can kill you!"
After shouting his taunt he heads back to the center of his camp and takes his helmet off
"Any man not standing watch rest now for the enemy will not"
After that he then take a seat. This battle will be long he knows this and his men will need replacements soon and provisions for they didn't bring enough for a siege of this scale
He looks up at the enemy camp again. He knows whatever happends and however this battle ends only one will stand. He vows to himself that he will fight to his very last breath if not to keep his men alive then to kill as many of theirs as he can.
After a long day and no other attack both armies set up guards and have the others sleep both not having the right equipment to fight in the dark or faunus to skirmish. Now both armies waiting for the next day to resume fighting and to kill one another
