I don't own anything about Fate stay Night series
The story have been Beta thank to RedRat8
Shirou twitched as he woke up from his bed and gave out a tired yawn as he looked around. He saw the window and the position of the sun from what he can tell told him it was morning at the very least. He then looked around to see on his side that Lancer was now sleeping peacefully in her bed. Archer and Elsa had to take Lancer to bed after she exhausted herself from crying last night.
Then Shirou remembered what happened last night…the first official battle that happened in the Grail War. Elsa had explained to him how brutal and vicious the Grail War could be, especially when you take into consideration the power that each Heroic Spirt could bring to the table. But nothing could have prepared him for what he saw last night, he shivered in fear of the Headless Horseman seemingly covered in darkness and fused with it. Holding a hook like sword that could take anyone's head with ease. Not to mention that giant monster of a wolf that acted as its mount. Shirou was scared when being hunted by Assassin, but the pure terror that Servant made last night made him feel the same kind of terror that he hadn't felt since that Fire that made him.
And that was just the beginning, he had then seen most of the Servants gathered around for a brutal confrontation. And the battle showed each Servant at their most dangerous and showed to Shirou exactly why each and every last one of them were called Heroic Spirits. And Shirou couldn't help but think exactly just how bad it might have been if each of the Servant at that point gone truly all out. Shirou had to hold back a shiver since with that it might just be possible for all of Tokyo to be wiped out.
A soft moaning sound snapped Shirou out of his thoughts, as he turned around to see that Lancer was waking up. "Artoria, how are you?" Shirou questioned his Servant whose identity he became aware of as of last night.
Artoria Pendragon, the King of Camelot, the true identity of his Lancer Servant. Shirou was naturally caught off guard at hearing Britain's King of Knights was his Servant, and even more astonishingly, according to Elsa, his Servant hailed from a different reality of sorts. Well he shouldn't be too surprised, since he also found out that Francis Drake is a woman as well, a figure that he researched for European History, courtesy of Taiga, but still how did she manage to hide the fact that she was a woman? Is this going to be a reoccurring theme? Male Heroes turning out to be female? Nah, that would be ridiculous.
(Meanwhile in the Throne of Heroes, multiple Heroes that were supposed to be male but were actually female sneezed at once.)
"I am fine Shirou." Lancer assured him as she saw his concerned look that made her smile, as Shirou's concern was touching.
"Shirou, Artoria." Otoko called out from outside of their room. "Are you two finally awake?" She questioned.
"Me and Artoria have just woken up." Shirou called out to her.
"Then get cleaned up you two, breakfast is just about done." Otoko told them as the dup got up and ready for the first meal of the day.
"Are you not feeling well today Artoria?" Otoko asked in worry as she watched Artoria just simply play with her food and not even eating it.
"I assure you, I'm fine, there's nothing to be worried about, why do you ask?" Artoria asked as she looked up in response to Otoko's question.
"You haven't eaten your food yet." She pointed out as it was true, as Lancer wasn't eating her food. While Servants didn't need to eat food, it was still something that they could do to help preserve energy for themselves and many would enjoy the taste of the food once more.
"Ah, my apologies, it's just I was deep in contemplating certain…matters." Artoria said to Otoko who didn't look convinced but didn't push any further. Archer, Elsa and Shirou could tell that she wasn't thinking about much. And considering what she found out last night, it would be enough to break anyone's composure. Finding out in another reality you and your kid were arch enemies and ended up killing said kid.
But regardless Artoria did started eating once more and after that, Otoko left to take care of certain matters and as soon as she left, Elsa set up an anti-spying Bounded Field around them so that the four of them could discuss the Grail War. "Okay, the plan is for today is that me and Archer are going to find likely bases that the other Masters could be hiding in." Elsa said as she then turned to Shirou. "You and Lancer are staying here." She said in a tone that booked no argument as Shirou simply nodded in response.
After what happened yesterday to Shirou, Elsa really didn't want him to go out today as Shirou somehow ended up in a situation where he could have been killed by multiple Servants or their Masters and she really didn't want to tempt fate.
Shirou nodded as he and Lancer saw off Elsa and Archer, and as soon as they left and were out of eyesight Shirou turned to Lancer. "Let's go for a walk Lancer." Shirou told her as she blinked in surprise.
"But Elsa requested us to stay here." Lancer pointed out.
"Yeah, but there's nothing to do here, and it's just a quick walk, all we need to do is get back here before those two could." Shirou pointed out. Lancer wanted to protest but Shirou gave her an adorable pleading look that very much reminded her of her own child and so she nodded in agreement.
"Fine but we're getting back here before Elsa and Archer returned." She said as Shirou beamed and dragged Lancer around the city after getting dressed for outside and then he took her to many spots around it with their last location being the first place that Elsa showed to Shirou.
"So, what do you think Lancer?" Shirou asked as he turned to the woman, anxious to hear her thoughts on the location he brought her to as right now both of them were sitting in a restaurant after exploring the place a bit and getting a bit hungry. Shirou hopefully assumed this place was a good restaurant as there were many people sitting here.
"It's a wonderful place, thank you for showing me around." Lancer said with a smile as Shirou blushed and shrugged it off with ease before Lancer spoke up again. "How much do you know about King Arthur's story?" Lancer asked as Shirou blinked in surprise.
"Well…after you were placed in bed, Archer and Elsa told me about this version of you that exists." Shirou said.
"I see…so what do you think about Mordred?" Artoria questioned.
"Well, from what I know, in most versions of the story, Mordred's the villain and the one that caused the fall of King Arthur as he was a pawn for Morgan le Fey, your sister." Shirou explained as Artoria took a moment to understand that.
"I see, this perhaps something." Lancer muttered as Shirou raised an eyebrow at her. "After Elsa told me about Mordred, I've begun getting memories that are not my own, and after a bit and after what you said, I realize that they're the memories of your King Arthur." Lancer said as Shiro's eyes widened at that.
"How?" he breathed out.
"I do not know for sure, but I believe that the Grail may have played a hand here." Lancer said to Shirou. "So I can only assume that it's the reason why I have been gaining memories of this world's King Arthur." She said.
"And…what do you think about our world's version of Arthur?" Shirou asked.
"…There are many things I can understand about her choices, I can even see the reasons for rejecting Mordred as well…but that would also mean that she did not understand Mordred's feelings as well then." Lancer said after coming to a thoughtful decision as Shirou nodded.
"I see."
"I can tell this world's Arthur loved her people very much…but I can't help but feel that she failed to understood her people. She may have ruled them but never lead them…at least that's why I believe her nation fell." She said and as Shirou listened to Lancer talk about her thoughts about this world's King Arthur. He could tell that Lancer wasn't fond of this world's version of herself.
"It's not here either." Elsa sighed as she left a building that didn't give any hints. Elsa and Archer did try to look around to find a clue for the likely locations that Masters could have made their base and Elsa was pretty familiar with the city and started searching for likely areas where they could be but it was proving to be fruitless.
"It's also likely that some masters may own houses here, and may have access to Leyline only they would know." Elsa muttered. 'Anything Archer?'
'No, Master.' Archer responded back as she was on the top of some of the tallest buildings using her sight in hopes of catching any traces of Masters and Servants.
'Keep looking, I will search another location, if we get lucky, we can find one of their spots.'
'Then we can go back and check on Shirou and Lancer, I worry for Lancer's mentality.' Archer said in concern.
'It's only natural a loving mother would react like that.' Elsa replied. 'Even if she didn't do it, a version of her still did it and on a personal level she would feel sick.'
Elsa then thought about the day she heard about her husband and son dying in the Fuyuki Fire, she had been in denial for a long bit but eventually had to accept it. She then got furious and vowed to find out who started the fire, and rumors and her sources led her to find out that it was a Master who started it and so she searched up the lists of any Masters who were left and found only three lived with them being Waver Velvet, Kirei Kotomine, and Kiritsugu Emiya.
She had met Waver a few months back after the Fourth Grail War and some of what he told her made her sick, especially with what happened in the case of Caster's lair. And so, she started questioning the next candidate at Kirei. While he was truthful, everything about that man put her on edge, not in the way that a Magus meets and Executioner, but in the way a animal meets a monster.
So, she didn't stay too long to question him, and tried to find the last Master, but Kiritsugu Emiya was notoriously difficult to track down. In fact, nobody had heard or seen of Kiritsugu for years until the Fourth Grail War and like a ghost he seemingly vanished after the last Grail War. That had led many to believe he had died, others said that he retired and vanished for good. Elsa tried hard to find him but her search was in vain until meeting Shirou.
Elsa had another painful meeting in her heart, the boy really reminded her too much of her son. She had wanted to believe he was her son since they never found Luca's body, but after many years of sorrow, grieving, and drunken blurs…she had enough of false hopes.
'Master.' Archer's voice snapped Elsa from her thoughts as she looked around to see herself on main street now.
'What is it?' Elsa replied to Archer, now remember what she had came here for.
'There's a Servant around here.' She warned as Elsa stiffened at that and tried to find the Servant but her senses had never been sharp for tracking.
'Could you track them down from up there? There's too many people here and my senses aren't good enough for this.' Elsa replied before darkly thinking. 'And the drinking didn't help me out.'
'All I can sense is that they're near you but I can't tell how close they are to you.' Archer replied as she looked down the streets as Elsa cursed.
She then moved her eyes casually trying to take in the sights while trying to not give herself away. And if Archer could sense a Servant than there's a high chance, they could sense her and have their Master with them. She then took a look across the streets before her eyes widened at what she saw.
Olga was silently looking at the crowd in front of her. She and Mash had decided to go out around the city to help Mash relax after what she went through. And just as they were about to reach a café to rest, Mash suddenly sensed a Servant and a Master around here. "She's close." Mash answered.
Olga turned to her and to help Mash hide, she used her Servant's knowledge to hide herself. "Can you track exactly where the Servant is?" She whispered as adults ignored her as her playing with an imaginary friend.
"If I use my advanced tracking spells, that's possible but too many people here." Mash whispered as Olga groaned and looked around and then her eyes focused on a red-haired woman that seem to focus on her as Olga's eyes focused on her.
"Found her." Both Masters said at the same time to their Servants as Elsa's body tensed at the sight of the girl.
Elsa knew damn well who this girl was, Olga Marie Animusphere, the daughter of the late Marisbury Animusphere. The sole heir to one of the top ten most powerful families at Clock Tower, Elsa had met the girl before when she was at Clock Tower getting clues behind the Fourth Grail War, but last she heard that since her father's passing her family's been going through some serious troubles, courtesy of Clock Tower's cutthroat politics. She had met the girl a couple of times and considering her reaction, she remembers her.
Olga looked at the woman across the street from her, she too, remembered the woman before her. Elsa Saijou, the current head of the Saijou Family. They weren't exactly big, but they were gifted with an ungodly talent and affinity for Elemental Magecraft. Typically, a Magus will be born with only one or two elemental affinities. But it's been believed by many that Saijou Family has been gifted with all five Elemental Affinities, due to being able to use all five elements in public, making them all Average Ones. Such a gift had been desirable by many Magus Families, even among the top ten Clock Tower Families, with some being very interested in learning their family secrets. That's why despite being a small and foreign family, many families have tried to gain their favor. Even Olga's father had been interested and tried to arrange a marriage with one of them. She was also well aware that Elsa was the last known member of her family and with the death of her husband and son, she became a prospective bachelorette for many Magus Families as she was still young and fertile enough to give birth to children. But shockingly for many, Elsa declined all of them. Which led to some to try and kidnap her, but failed because Elsa, while she may be kind, was still the head of the Saijou Family, and they were skilled in combative related Elemental Magecraft.
When the light signal turned green and people from both sides started walking, both Elsa and Olga stood still waiting for the other to make their first move and it seemed like an eternity passed before Elsa walked towards Olga, which made her and Mash tensed up.
"It's nice to see you again here Olga." Elsa said as she stopped in front of her.
"Indeed, it's been a while Lady Elsa." Olga said to her.
"There's a small café near here that we can go to if you want to have small chat." Elsa offered.
Olga's mind began to think about this as fast as she could, she could say no to Elsa then go away. But she also needed to confront the fact that Elsa's a Master and if she is, she could make an alliance with her since she's still very much at a disadvantage, so with her mind set, she made her choice. "Okay." She replied.
"That's great news, and your friend can join us as well since I have a friend coming with me as well." Elsa replied as Olga knew that Elsa was talking about her Servant now and it also served as a warning to not try anything with her as they began to walk and Olga tried to figure out Elsa's Servant.
As it turned out, the café that Elsa suggested was the same one that Olga and Mash had planned to come and things were turning out okay until Elsa's "friend" had come. She had long greenish blonde hair and green eyes and light skin, it was none other than the Servant Archer, whom Servant Caster, that Olga had summoned, held a vey strong rage towards her. Olga discreetly and quickly took a look towards Mash to see her face devoid of emotion but she could clearly see her eyes glaring at the Servant with anger and hate.
"This is my friend, Artemis." Elsa introduced as Artemis nodded towards them, and Olga knew that was the name of the Goddess of the Moon, but like Mash, Olga knew her real identity of that of the Chaste Huntress.
"Pleased to meet you Artemis, I am Olga Marie Animusphere and this here is my companion and friend, Mash Kyrielight." Olga introduced themselves as Artemis give them both a nod.
For a bit the four them were walking towards the café in silence and soon got themselves a table far away from prying eyes and now it was a match of who would be the first to start their talks and once again Elsa is the first one to do so. "Are you a Master of this Grail War?" She asked softly towards Olga, as Olga was taken off-guard by her blunt question, as even Mash and Artemis were taken off-guard.
"I am a Master." Olga answered truthfully as she also took off her glove to show her Command Seals as Elsa nodded at the sight, who looked more distraught at the sight of them.
"I see…I had honestly hoped you were not a Master of this Grail War." Elsa muttered sadly.
"And what do you intend to do now that you know I'm a Master?" Olga questioned cautiously.
"…I would prefer if you left this War as soon as possible." Elsa replied as Olga's eyes hardened.
"And that way you can get the Grail Wish for yourself." Olga said in a accusing tone.
"I lost my family because of the Fourth Grail War in Fuyuki." Elsa replied in a dark tone to Olga. "The last thing I want in my life is to join this damned War." Elsa said as Olga's eyes widened in confusion.
"But I heard your family died in the Fuyuki Fire." Olga pointed out.
"Which was caused by a Master in that War." Elsa pointed out as Olga's mind worked as fast as it did and came to the only reason why she was in this war.
"You joined the War because you lost your family." She muttered.
"I don't want a repeat of the Climax of the Fourth Grail War's conclusion." Elsa said seriously before it became softer. "I don't know what it is you wish for but I am sure that it's not worth dying for." She pleaded with Olga.
"What do you know?!" Olga snapped back. "Do you have any idea how bad my Family fell after my father's death? How I had to do everything in my power just to keep my family from becoming nothing more than an afterthought, surrounded by people who wanted to just use me as a puppet?" After her father's death, to say that Olga had a harsh life would be an understatement, since all of her father's colleges stole all the credit for their work, and even tried to take over the Astronomy Facility, the pride of the Animusphere Family's sphere of influence, it took every last bit of favor that Olga had as well as more debts to not lose it to those parasites.
Elsa was surprised to see her outburst but considering the circumstances that Olga found herself in, she really couldn't be blamed for her outburst. On some levels she could even understand how Olga felt, what with many families either their heads or their heirs asking for her hand in marriage after her family's death in hopes of gaining her family's unique ability to do many types of Elemental Magecraft, and it's also the reason why she rarely stays in one place anymore.
"I see, if I truly can't talk you out, then I hope you wouldn't me trying to keep you alive now do you?" Elsa sighed and then questioned as Olga's anger left and was left with surprise.
"You want to make an alliance?" Olga questioned as Elsa nodded. "Then what about Lancer's Master? And I know you're working with Lancer's Master since I saw Archer help out Lancer last night." She added in before Elsa could say anything else.
"Me and Lancer's Master have no desire for the wish of the Holy Grail War, we simply desire to end this Grail War with the least amount of bloodshed." Elsa explained.
Olga took a moment to think about this offer, if it was true then that would mean she would not only gain strong allies, but also people that would be willing to let her get the wish. But the main issue remains with Mash and as she looked to her, to find Mash openly glaring at Archer now.
"Why are you glaring at me?" Archer questioned as she saw Mash's glare on her since she arrived. At first, she thought that Mash was being cautious, but now she could tell that there was legitimate fury and hate targeted towards her. She felt like she met Mash before but she resembled no on she knew.
"Why?" Mash questioned as she trembled.
"Why?" Archer replied in confusion.
"Why did you betray me?" She clarified her question as she seemed to tear up hatefully at the sight of Archer.
"What?" Archer blinked in surprise.
"I trusted you, I saw you as a friend and sister and yet you abandoned me." Mash grounded out her teeth.
"What are you talking about? I don't know you." Archer replied, though her gut was telling her otherwise.
"Really?" Mash replied as both Olga and Elsa watched their talk as both Masters now noticed a Bounded Field around them which prevented the others from hearing, meaning Mash had to have been the one to do it. And they could see that Mash had a spirt seemingly formed around her turning into someone that Elsa didn't know but Archer clearly did by the way she quickly paled at the sight of her.
"It can't be...you're…" Archer trembled at the sight of the girl now fully recognizing her.
"Remember me now? Atalanta?" Mash said with fury.
"…Medea." Archer gasped out.
"I don't think this is a good idea." Kairi pointed out.
"I agree with my Master." Berserker added in his agreement.
"No worries, nobody would attack us in broad daylight in a public place filled with many people." Fiore assured them.
"You guys also need to relax, overthinking like that will make you guys worry to death." Rider said casually as Kairi sighed.
The morning after breakfast, Fiore wanted to explore the city since she never got a chance to do so. Kairi had rejected her desire at first since it was dangerous and she could easily become a target for Masters and Servants on the prowl. Not to mention, it would look very bad for him if his charge died on his watch. But Fiore, damn Rider and her recklessness, was stubborn and wanted to explore the place since she could still fight and Rider can fight as well. And so, to satisfy everyone, both Kairi and Berserker joined their group as well, so now they look like a tourist family visiting Tokyo. And now they were standing in front of a famous family restaurant that Fiore wanted to try out.
"I just hope that they got some good booze here." Rider said with an excited grin.
"Rider, need I remind you; you're still being punished?" Fiore said now sounding very stern as Rider deflated in defeat.
"Yes, Master." Rider replied sullenly. 'Damn you Archer to the lowest pits of hell for this.' She thought out.
Soon a tired looking waitress approached them. "I'm sorry dear customers, but right now it's very crowded, do you mind sharing a table?" She asked.
"We don't mind." Fiore assured her as the waitress led them to their new table.
"Could you share the table with them? We're rather crowded today, and we apologize for the inconvenience." The waitress asked the table's patrons.
"Do not worry, we do not mind." A female voice assured her as the waitress gave her thanks and left as Kairi looked to the two at the table and his eyes widened at the sight since it was Lancer and someone who's clearly her Master and they seemed to recognize both Berserker and Rider as well.
Now everyone was silent as they were stunned at the coincidence until Rider spoke up again. "Well now, this sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, A king, a pirate, and a law enforcer walk into a restaurant." Rider commented as everyone turned to her with blank looks on their faces.
