Keith groans as he opens up the large double doors in front of him and finds himself back at the grand dining room.

"Dammit I'm going in circles again." Keith groans.

He shuts the doors and then walks down the hallway, smiling at the Alteans that he passed who bowed to him. So far that was about the only adjustment to his life that he'd gotten comfortable with since he moved into the palace. By some miracle he had gone from a poor boy with no prospects for his future living in a glorified shed in the desert, to a paladin of Voltron, to the Commander of Voltron, and now here he was as King of the new Galtean Kingdom that had been created after he married the love of his life. He knew that by marrying her he'd have to get used to a whole different lifestyle that he had only seen in movies and he was more than happy to make that adjustment because he loved Allura more than anything and he had responsibilities now as a King so he knew it would take some getting used to but he didn't expect it to be this hard.

It had now been just over a year since they got married and settled down in the largest building Keith had ever been in and he was still managing to get lost in what was supposed to be his home that he shared with his wife. For the first few months Allura and the other servants and advisors that worked with them had found it adorable that Keith needed directions for where to go in the palace and assured him that in two weeks he'd know this place like the back of his hand. But the only thing he'd known was the front of his hand that he kept slamming against his forehead every time he wound up somewhere other than where he was supposed to be! Even Kosmo had memorized this place's layout before he did! And that only made him even more embarrassed. So instead of asking people for directions he would just whistle for Kosmo and ask him to teleport him where he needed to go.

And thankfully almost every room in this palace had high ceilings because his cosmic wolf was now the size of an Earth horse. So the only place he really shouldn't be in were the kitchens, which wasn't a problem unless they were cooking a lot of meat in which case Kosmo wouldn't be able to resist the smell and teleport in there and eat his fill while the terrified chefs would run out of there screaming. So now they're only cook two meat dishes a day, for everyone's safety.

Once the two Alteans were gone from his sight he whistled for Kosmo and he appeared in front of him with a small tree branch in his mouth and his tail wagging happily.

"Hey buddy. Do you have any idea where the private outdoor pool is?" He asks his wolf.

Kosmo nods his head, shaking leaves off of the branch in the process before letting Keith hold onto his fur and teleporting them there.

Keith looked around at the sunlight shining off of the pool-water, the nice stone tiles that reminded him of a patio you would find on a house on Earth, and not to mention the lovely view of the gardens made it a nice spot to relax. It was a nice quiet place since only he and Allura had access to it. No servants were allowed because it was supposed to be a place where he and Allura could retreat to when things got stressful and spend some uninterrupted time to relax either alone or with each other, and that's what Keith loved about it the most.

Even though he wasn't as anti-social as he used to be, he still liked his privacy. And something he definitely hadn't expected when he moved in was not the amount of servants that there would be, but that said servants would be literally everywhere! Even in places he wouldn't expect them. He expected them to be roaming the garden, so he wasn't surprised to find servants there popping out from around the hedges and trees offering him tasty snacks and drinks when he would go on walks with Allura and or Kosmo or by himself. But there were definitely some places he didn't expect them to be present in. The first time he showered in he the luxurious bathroom he shared with Allura, he nearly had a heart attack when he walked out of the shower and saw an Altean that was not his wife, standing there in the room, being cheerfully professional despite the fact that he was looking at his King in the nude and kindly offering him a towel to dry off.

And if the servants were in the bathroom then he really should have expected them to be in other places he thought he could be either alone or with his wife. But, once again he learned the hard way one morning when he woke up and saw Allura on her side next to him, sitting up by propping herself up with one arm while she looked down at him with those gorgeous bright blue eyes he could get lost in while wearing a thin, short, red nightgown that was Keith's favorite to see on her.

"Did you sleep well my love." She had asked him and stroked his cheek with her fingers.

"I slept great." He had said in his groggy morning voice and smirked when he saw her blush. He was well aware that she found his gravelly morning voice attractive and the fact that he was, at the time, nude with the blankets pulled down to just below his v-line definitely helped too. "How long have you been up?"

"Not too long." Allura told him before her stomach growled.

"Well, it sounds like your stomach can't wait much longer so how about I make us some breakfast?" He offered.

"No need. I already called the kitchen and breakfast will be here for both of us soon my love." Allura told him.

"You didn't have to do that." Keith said to her and sat up so he was at eye-level with her. "I've been making my own food my whole life, I don't need to ask other people to make it for me."

"Darling it's their job to cook for us and they want to do it. They'd be so upset if you didn't ask them to cook for you. And besides, I want to spoil my King a little." Allura said softly and Keith licked his lips.

"Alright then while we're waiting for the food to get here I'll spoil you with something else." He drawled and Allura gasped as she was pulled into his lap, the sheet moved even more and exposed him while she straddled his lap with her legs on either side of him as he kissed her neck.

His hand had moved halfway up her nightgown when he stopped and screamed when he saw two servants in their room holding trays of food and he screamed and quickly covered himself.

The room was silent as the embarrassed couple tried to gauge the servant's reaction. Finally one spoke.

"Perhaps we should come back later." She and her friend said and scurried out of the room.

Long story short, too many servants had seen his junk because they were hanging sound somewhere he thought was private so he was very cautious when he changed into his swim trunks but once he had pulled them up and no one had seen his dick, he was able to relax and lay back on one of the cushioned lounge chairs just in time for his wife to join him in her favorite pink bikini.

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting darling." She says and kisses him while he scoches over to give her room to lay down next to him on her side.

"You came just in time." He says and pulls her in close.

Allura studies her husband's face and frowns.

"Is something wrong darling? You seem tense." She says.

He's never been able to hide what he was feeling from her. And he also swore to never lie to her either. So he tells her the truth.

"I got lost again." Keith admits and Allura giggles.

"Oh darling." She sighs and nuzzles her head into the crook of his neck. "I figured as much since Kosmo is here." She says and smiles at the wolf chewing on his tree branch on the other side of the pool. "What are we going to do? A King shouldn't be getting lost in his own castle. Why is it so hard for you to find your way around?"

"Because it's a huge castle. I've never set foot in a building this complex before in my life. I'm amazed that I can even manage to get from the bedroom, to my office, and our dining room without taking a wrong turn somewhere." Keith says.

"Well that's because you go to those three places so often." Allura says. "Just explore the castle some more and you'll remember how to get to more places."

"Or get lost somewhere you'll never find me." Keith says and Allura laughs.

"Well even if I couldn't find you I know Kosmo would. Don't get so stressed about it darling. It's a big change for you so it'll take awhile but you'll get used to it." Allura tells him and presses her body into his side more as he wraps his arms around her.

"Getting used to it is what worries me." Keith admits.

Allura picks her head up so she can look at his face, and it looks confused.

"Why? Do you not like living here with me?" She asks.

"No! I love being with you here and ruling our people together but I just don't feel comfortable being this...rich." Keith says.

"So you're unhappy with your title?" Allura asks and Keith could sense he was worrying her so he showers her in kisses while trying to think of a better way to phrase this.

"It's not the title 'Lura. I love being the King and Queen with you. What I meant was that I don't think I'm comfortable with all of the material stuff that comes along with it." Keith explains. "I've never had so much stuff before in my life and I never once dreamed I would have servants one day. I've never had anything aside from a tiny shack in the desert until I found you. And now I don't have to worry about finding food or money," his gaze shifts downwards and he places his hand over her womb. "And our kids will never have to worry about that ever in their lives and I am so glad."

Allura smiles at him and places her hand over his.

"Keith, I'm not pregnant yet." She tells him and he smiles and kisses her forehead.

About two months ago their advisors had talked with them about if they were planning on having heirs and if not, then how would they determine their successors. Keith and Allura told them that they did want to have kids together but they just weren't sure when they should start trying.

Then that night Allura suggested to him that she remove her birth control implant but instead of tracking her ovulation to actively try to conceive a child, they would just continue about their daily lives and then one day it'll just happen and be a happy surprise for them both. And Keith thought that plan couldn't be more perfect.

"I know, but ever since we agreed we want to have them I've been thinking about what raising a family here would be like. Their childhood's will be nothing like mine." He says. "I doubt they'll even believe me if I told them I grew up in the desert."

"Well then I can't wait to see the looks on their little faces when we visit your humble little shack with them someday." Allura says and Keith smiles.

"When you say it like that it sounds a lot nicer than it actually is." Keith says and Allura chuckles again.

"But while I would never want our kids to grow up like I did. I do worry that this might be more than what they really need." Keith says.

"There's nothing wrong with that." Allura says, starting to sound a bit offended since she grew up in a palace like this one. "It's one thing to have your basic needs met but wouldn't you want them to be able to have all the toys that they want, and be introduced to a wide variety of foods, both healthy and deserts, and while I definitely don't want them to be primarily raised by nannies, given how time consuming both of our jobs are, I think it's definitely a good thing that we'll be able to have someone else be able to watch them when we can't."

"Yeah I mean that's great and stuff but I went to school on Earth with kids that grew up like that and they were always so mean and spoiled. I don't want our kids to end up like that." Keith says.

"Being born into wealth doesn't automatically make a person spoiled. It's how they are raised to use that wealth by their parents that determines that. I thought you knew that darling, you don't think I'm spoiled do you?"

Keith realizes his mistake and apologizes.

"What no of course not! You're nothing like those bratty kids I grew up with. You're the most selfless person in the universe, and the sweetest, and the most beautiful, and-"

"Alright darling that's enough flattery, we're getting off-topic. Our children won't be spoiled I promise. And I know you well enough to know that's not the only thing you're worried about." Allura says and he looks at her.

"I'm also worried that I might change by living here like this. I just don't want to forget everything I learned when I was on my own." Keith says. "And what it was like to grow up poor, and all of the challenges that came with that. I'm one of the rare people in politics that actually understands what that's like for our citizens. I can help them more effectively because I understand them, and I'm worried that now that I have literally everything I could ever want, that I'll forget what that struggle was like and then I won't be able to help them like I promised."

Allura gently cups his scared cheek and runs her thumb along it.

"Keith, you are the one person I know who I can confidently say would never let wealth affect them." Allura says and moves her hand from his cheek to his chest, over his heart. "You're a better man than you think you are, and your heart is much stronger than you realize."

Keith smiles and places his hand over hers. "It grows stronger every day I'm with you. You bring out the best in me Allura. I love you." He says and kisses her. "And I'm sorry if I insulted you but I just don't need all of this to be happy. All I need is you. Everything else is just kind of annoying to be honest. I can take care of myself and I want to take care of my wife too. I don't mind the servants cooking for us too much but somethimes I want to be the one who surprises you with breakfast in bed the morning after a stressful day. And do other chores like laundry or heck even something as small as making the bed just so I feel like I'm doing some things for myself around here."

"I agree. I'd be so happy if you did all of those things for me, on days when you're not busy. But I am still going to spoil you every now and then. What's the point of having all of this money and power if I can't use it to spoil the man I love every now and then. In fact, I feel like spoiling you a little right now." She says as her hand moves lower before playing with the hem of his swim trunks. "Will you let me spoil you darling?" She asks and innocently flutters her eyelashes.

"Oh 'Lura you can always spoil me with that. As long as I'm allowed to return the favor." Keith says and Allura giggles as he rolls on top of her and kisses her.
