A/N: I really need to stop making promises to you guys, because I am struggling to keep them. Quarantine sucks ass, but at least it's given me more time for fanfiction. I'll try my best to produce as much as I can until I have to go back to work.

Hinata sat inside of her family's colossal library. Several piles of books were on the table in front of her. They were many books of various types separated into organized piles. One pile was centered around everything that vampires happened to know about werewolves. What their history was, what their anatomy was, and any information that happened to know about their rituals and customs. There was a much smaller pile, it only had two or three books in it. This is because the books were centered around werewolf romance. Stuff like this were very rare, and written in a way that made it clear that werewolves were savage and stupid. It emphasized that the only way a romance could ever happen is if they officially conceded and admitted that the vampires were right in every single way. They were mostly just books singing praises about how wonderful vampires were in comparison.

Hinata had been leafing through stories like these for the past several days. She was desperately hoping that one of these books would hold some type of explanation as to what was going on with her. She needed answers on why exactly this werewolf was so attracted to her and what his overall motivations were. She also needed some information on why exactly his blood caused such a strong reaction within her. It didn't make any sense. Never before had she had such a strong reaction to anyone else's blood. And most werewolves left a strong bitter metallic taste in her mouth that lingered for several days.

So what made this male so different?

He did mention the fact that they were mates. That's a term she had heard several times in regards to both vampires and werewolves. But in her species, mates were a choice. It was simply the person one decided to spend the rest of their lives with. Or the person their families decided that they should spend the rest of their lives with. But they didn't know each other. So how could he have possibly even begun to think that they were mates?

None of the information offered in these books helped her understand this any better. The only information she could find was discussing the behaviors of werewolves once they were mated. It appeared to be a very possessive relationship. Both werewolves tended to be protective of one another, and if one of them were injured it led to pure rage and despair from the other. It also described that once a mate dies, then the other loses the will to live. They become a complete husk of who they were before. Some few had even resorted to outright killing themselves.

Another fact made her face almost flushed. It described the very...intense sexual relationship that werewolves had. Within the first year of mating, it seemed like they were unable to refrain from having very graphic, passionate sex at every chance they got. How a vampire got ahold of this information isn't something Hinata really wanted to know. But based on all that she read it meant that if what this werewolf was saying was accurate, then as mates he would be hunting her down constantly to have his way with her.

So what was she supposed to do? She could hide out inside of the village where it would be almost impossible for him to get to her. Unfortunately it seemed that he would still try and do just that in order to be with her. Even if it was just for a moment. It was more than likely that he would be willing to die to be with her if they were to be separated for too long. And that was a possibility that Hinata didn't feel very comfortable with. The idea of him dying left her with a very somber pang that managed to rattle her heart. It's the only thing that made her reconsider the idea of hiding out in the village.

That meant the only other alternative would be to spend more time with him in secret. But for how long? And what would they even do together? Where would any of this lead? She really was skeptical of having a relationship with him. She wasn't even sure she wanted to. And if it got out that she had been fraternizing with one of his kind, she would be in a large amount of trouble. At best, she would be banished and left to her own devices against any werewolf that might attack her. And at worst she would be outright murdered alongside him. And having any other werewolf find out wouldn't do her much good either.

So what was she supposed to do?

Hinata sighed and closed the book. She realized he was barely reading at this point. Mostly just skimming through the words and agonizing over her situation. She groaned and closed her eyes. She was supposed to be the future leader to her clan. Life was hard enough for her already. Adding this on top of things only stressed her out further.

She tensed when she heard footsteps suddenly appear close to her.

"Lady Hinata, are you alright? You've been in here all day. Your mother and father are becoming worried." It was her cousin, Neji. The only reprieve she ever got from her emotional trouble.

"Yeah, I'm as fine as anyone really. The war has me a bit on edge." She responded.

"Really? Is that what all these books are here for?" He asked. His tone lacked any genuine concern and had light accusations in it. Hinata peered up at him. He was not looking at her, and was instead staring at the books she had splayed out in front of her.

"Yes, I'm trying to find and understand as much about the enemy as possible. But nothing's been very helpful." Hinata said softly. Her voice quivered a bit and she hoped that he didn't notice.

"Hmm. I see. Well, alright then." He moved his gaze to peer at her. "How long do you plan on being in here? Perhaps you and I could take a walk through the garden to calm your nerves."

Oh, her wonderful cousin. He knew exactly how to try and help calm her down. She loved the garden, and had planted nearly all of the plants inside of there alongside her mother, sister, Neji and even her father in some cases. It was her place of comfort.

"Maybe some other time. I need to stay in here until I figure something out. When I do become clan leader, I'm not gonna have time to spend with you out in the garden." Her voice wavered even more. At least this time it was due to her being upset about her future of almost near isolation like her father lived. Hinata had to break her gaze away in order to try and collect herself.

She tensed when she felt a hand placed on her shoulder. She snapped her head back up to meet eyes with Neji once again. His cold, pale eyes held an unusual amount of warmth.

"Lady Hinata, I assure you that once you become leader, we will be going to the garden whenever you please. I respect your decision, but please don't overwork yourself because you have these silly notions of the future. I'll be here for you and so will the garden and Hanabi." His tone was tender and soft.

It was enough to make Hinata want to unload her current dilema to him. No doubt he would be able to give her some solid advice about what to do. But this was her burden to bear. She didn't feel comfortable unloading all of these emotional problems on him. And the situation was so convoluted and dangerous she didn't think it was morally right to involve him in it.

So she settled on a smile.

"Thank you Brother Neji. I appreciate it, I really do."

He removed his hand and gave her a subtle, yet kind smile in return.

"Of course. I'll leave you be now. But please, make sure to rest." He turned around and left.

Hinata kept her eyes on him until he exited the room. She only allowed them to finally look away after the door fully closed. She released a loud sigh.

Now what was she going to do?

Her cousin was worried about her. And if he was worried, then no doubt several of her other relatives had caught on to her strange and odd behavior as well. She figured this meant that people would start keeping an eye on her. Which is definitely not what she needed right now.

Maybe this was part of that werewolf's game plan. Maybe he wanted to play these strange mind games with her. Have her die from the stress of dealing with this monumental secret, her family's suspicion and not having a proper outlet. But she knew this theory was ridiculous. If she wanted to get answers, she needed to go directly to the source once again. She'd go back to the cave he took her to last time and await his arrival.

The thought caused her to become instantly flustered. She recalled the things he had done to her body and how easily she had reciprocated. She had never done anything like that with anyone before. As the heiress to her clan, she had been put on a pedestal far above anyone else. Most men sought out marriage with her and they didn't dare to touch her before then. It didn't help that a couple years ago, at the start of puberty, a young vampire had decided to try and kiss her.

Her father had swooped in with a vengeance to punish him for trying to defile her before she was married. So for most of her life she was the virginal princess of the Hyuuga clan, to remain untouched. She did watch on in envy as her friends lived out their lives to their fullest in terms of relationships. To be fair to her father, there hadn't really been any man to catch her attention, so it's not like he had interrupted much.

Until now.

Of course the one person she had been most attracted to just had to be a werewolf. A werewolf that made her body light up and tingle just thinking about him. Unfortunately, at times she had become so aroused by him that she couldn't refrain from masturbating while thinking about him. And as much of a huge headache he had been to her in the short times they've met, she found herself excited to see him again. She wanted his lips up against hers again and she desired to feel his large, rough hands exploring her body.

She was especially excited at the thought of being able to divulge in his delicious, warm, rich and filling blood. It's probably the one thing that confused her the most. Why did she have such a strong reaction to drinking it? Why was it the most exquisite thing that she had ever tasted in her entire life?

It was a shame that she couldn't find anyone to answer her questions. And she had too much of a headache to begin her long and extensive research into this information. She also felt far too mentally drained after such a long and stressful week of reading.

Hinata stood up. Even though she might regret it, she knew that there was one way she could relax.

Hinata lept from branch to branch. The air was cool as it brushed up against her skin. She wore a long sleeved shirt, and long black pants. Both were tight on her body, allowing her to move more swiftly through the trees. She simply told the guards that she was leaving in order to patrol their territory to ensure there weren't any werewolves roaming around the area. A complete lie, of course, but they brought it. A few vampires had unfortunately lost their lives nearby as werewolves had been sniffing around in the area.

Of course, this meant that Hinata was putting herself in some slight danger by being out. But she was a woman on a mission, and she was determined to see it through.

It actually caused her to flush a little bit.

She was out in the middle of the woods, sneaking around trying to meet up with her mortal enemy in order to engage in some sexual activity with him. It made her feel incredibly naughty and it excited her. She felt so free, so rebellious.

It took almost an hour, but Hinata was finally at the cave she last met with the werewolf at. Naruto, if she was remembering his name correctly. It was a really good location. It was in an area neither claimed by werewolf or vampire, and neither one of them were seen around these parts. Hinata herself had only been there less than a dozen times, and most times were due to her running away after being outnumbered. Nearby was a village of groups that wanted nothing to do with vampires and werewolves, and each knew better than to try and drag them into this.

Once she was inside, she felt foolish. The cave was empty. With her advanced eyesight, seeing into a dark cave was no problem. There wasn't anybody inside. It was just Hinata and the night sky.

"H-hello? Is anyone here?" She called back. It was more of a whisper, really. One that still managed to travel far too loudly inside of the cave. She received no answer back. Her shoulders slumped, and her mind began to whirl.

Why was she even here? What if he didn't show up? They hadn't exactly agreed on a time or day for them to meet up. Perhaps she had been a little too enthusiastic and had rushed on ahead without thinking things through. And what did she plan to do if he didn't show up tonight? Was she just gonna leave and show up the next night to wait for him like some type of love struck pupp-

"HINATA! YOU'RE FINALLY HERE!" She had no time to react before she was almost toppled over. Big, firm, muscled arms wrapped themselves around her, and she gasped as they squeezed her. The world spun and she squeaked for a moment when she was lifted off the ground and spun around in multiple circles.

"YOU'RE FINALLY HERE! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH! THIS IS THE BEST NIGHT EVER!"

"Uh, y-yes I am. Could you please put me down?" She asked as quietly as she could. Despite their near isolation it still made her nervous to be too loud. How did he even get in here without her knowing? She was pretty sure that her senses would have alerted her if he were nearby. And if she couldn't sense him, it made her fear that someone else could be close by without her knowing. The off chance that they could be caught gave her anxiety.

But it also led to her having some thrills...

This man made her an absolute mess.

"Oh, yeah. I'm sorry. " He put her down, but kept his hands on her waist. He simply stared at her. His large grin shining brightly in the moonlit night. His dazzling blue eyes roamed her body over and over again, each time becoming darker as they lingered on certain spots. She took a brief moment to look him over as well.

He was shirtless, allowing her eyes to drink in the sight of his bare skin. His muscles were so defined it was like they were carved from marble. And his jeans hung low off his hips, revealing a deep V. It showed her that he was currently not wearing any boxers, and that excited her. After drinking him in for far too long, she realized that the two of them hadn't spoken at all.

It caused her to shift a little. It was odd to have someone pay attention to her like this. Especially with this much intensity.

"Uh. Hi?" She said. The silence was somehow louder than his previous shouting.

"Hey? How are you? How have you been? How come you didn't come earlier? Is everything alright? Are you hurt? Did someone do something to you? Let me know, I'll hurt them! Let me check you for wounds! I missed you so much." He went from holding on to her waist to checking and examining her body, lifting up parts of her shirt, rolling up her sleeves, and attempting to pull down her pants. All while speaking a mile a minute.

"I'm fine! No one hurt m-me." She said, trying to lightly push him away. Despite their intimacy, this was all so strange and different to her.

"Are you sure? You know you can tell me anything right?" He grabbed both of her hands into his and gazed deep into her eyes. "I'll always protect you, always. You can trust me."

"Um, thank you. But I don't know. I'm still really confused about what's going on."

"What do you mean?"

She removed her hands from his and moved her gaze towards the floor. She dug one of her toes into the ground. Despite thinking about him everyday for all this time, she still didn't anticipate the butterflies she would get inside of her stomach.

"I don't really understand our relationship, or what you expect to happen between the two of us." She explained. She winced at the quiver in her voice.

"You're my mate. I already told you that, didn't I? And I hope that the two of us will wed, mate for life and have beautiful children together." He explained all of this so casually, as if they were the same species and not in the middle of a war.

"I don't mean to be rude, but how is that going to be possible? We're in the middle of a war we're enemies-"

"You and I aren't enemies. We hardly know each other, remember?" Hinata flushed even further. While she wasn't looking at him, she could hear his smile. Was he being coy with her? Was this flirting? It only made the butterflies flutter around faster.

"But we are different species. I'm a vampire, and you're a werewolf. How are we ever gonna make this work?" Perhaps a more direct approach would help.

"So you do want this to work between us. I knew you realized we belong together, you sexy little tease."

Her head snapped up, and her jaw dropped. It was not an answer she was at all expecting. Her expression caused him to snort, and burst into a series of giggles.

"Pfft, I'm sorry, haha! Your face is just too funny! You're really fun to tease, my love."

"I'm being serious here, stop laughing at me!" She demanded. While her voice remained quiet, it was more firm than before. It held more authority than what she displayed at home. It surprised her a little. In an instant, all the laughter drained out of his face. All amusement was gone, and all that was left in his expression was guilt.

"I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to laugh at you like that. I was just joking around. Can you forgive me?" His rapid fire energy left her feeling a little exhausted. Members of her kind were often so stoic and withdrawn that it made it difficult to decipher their emotions. This was very new and different, but it was equally as refreshing.

"It's okay, it's fine. I, I just need you to take this a little bit more seriously. What would we do if someone found out about us? How are we even going to have children? Where would we go? Where would we raise them? Is it even possible for my kind to breed with yours?" Wonderful, it was like his overly excited energy had seeped into her. Now it was her turn to drown him in a series of questions.

It was his turn to avert his eyes. He stared at the entrance of the cave as he scratched the back of his head. Her eyes were strong enough for her to see a light red dust ]on his cheeks.

"To be honest, Hinata, it's kind of hard to answer your questions. I'm not even really aware of what you're asking me. My mind keeps hopping back and forth. The only thing I'm thinking about is smothering you with kisses and never letting you go, and..." He trailed off, narrowing his eyes.

"And what?" She prodded for more information.

Hinata wasn't prepared for him to snap his gaze back on to her. Gone were his bright, dazzling blue eyes. They were replaced by deep, crimson orbs. The lines on his cheeks became longer, and deeper, and she could see his fangs starting to protrude from his mouth. Hinata gasped, and took a step backwards. He took a step forward to follow after her. They continued this pattern until she had her back pressed up against the cave wall. It wasn't long before he was inches away from her.

"Do you really want to know? Because I can show you." He mumbled, caressing the side of her face.

"I do." She breathed out. Her legs trembled, and a familiar feeling of desire pooled inside of her gut. She was surprised at the lack of fear. At any moment, he could use his fangs to rip her apart.

"I am consumed with the thought of fucking you. Do you know how hard this past week has been for me? I just wanted so badly to hunt you down and have my way with you. Our last meeting is all I've been able to think about." His other hand traveled underneath her shirt, and grazed her stomach. He left a trail of goosebumps wherever he touched.

Her breath hitched when he moved his face closer to her. He studied her features, paying a noticeable amount of attention to her lips.

"It took so much to restrain myself when I finally caught your scent after so long. I was leaving too, since I didn't think you were coming tonight either. And yet, here you are. I wanted to immediately rip off all your clothes and mate with you. But I didn't want to scare you. I just, I just don't think I can stop myself any longer."

Before Hinata could utter a word, he sealed her lips into a searing kiss.
