First Cowboy Bebop piece, and probably also going to be one of my less popular stories as well.=^_^= Like a lot of my stuff, this isn't actually really a story, but more of a... thought piece. First person narration, putting myself into the character and playing out their thoughts. So, if you're reading this, then I hope you like it!

And that was it.

He never came back. Of course, Jet insisted that he was still alive. Somewhere, he was still hiding from Vicious or Julia or whoever the hell there was. Still, I'm not stupid. I mean, it doesn't take much to figure out when someone you know is gone, right?

Ed ran away with Ein. Spike is dead. In basic, everyone's gone.

Every time I think of Spike now, a voice inside me always says, "Why do you care anyway? It's not like you loved him, right?"

Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. Maybe I still do. Love is fickle. Love is confusing. Love is more like a gamble than anything else. It's the same as any of the millions of bets I've made at any casino on any out of reach planet. It's not for sure, and there's always the possibility of losing more than you can ever win.

But, unlike any game I've played before, I couldn't cheat. And this time, without my tricks to pull me along, I lost.

There it is, I've admitted. Yes, I fell in love, and just like I had always know, it turned out wrong. That's why I never trusted anyone. Those who love, always lose. That's why I always moved from place to place, swindling what I could, even if it did get me unbelievably in debt. That's why I can't believe I got mixed up in all the damn white and black joker stuff. After all, if I hadn't, then I would never have met him. Spike Spiegel.

For the first time, I'll say it. This is my fault. All my fault. And now, thanks to me and all my damn stupidity, I fell in love, and as predicted, lost.

She sighed. She had finally admitted it, even if it was only to herself. Even that was better than nothing. Suddenly, she found herself on the ground.

"Faye Faye!!" A familiar voice yelled.

"Ed?!?!" There was no mistaking the girl, it was Edward all right. She looked questioningly at Jet.

"Found her downtown looking at the mushrooms. Said she wanted to come back." Great, means the damn mutt's here as well now. Like said, she was soon being stared at by a short, fat dog.

"Ed...? Why are you on this planet now anyway?" Faye asked. After all, Ed was only what? 14? 13? Something... How did she skip from Earth to Mars?

"Ed is here looking for Spike-person!" She held up a computer printout showing the latest bounty turn-ins. Spike was listed for turning one in only a week ago. "See? Spike-person is somewhere on Mars!" Jet looked over the papers.

"Well I'll be damned... So he is still out there." And for the first time in a while, Faye really had nothing to say. "Shall we find 'im then? Nothing better to do."

Like I said before, love is a bet. You may lose, but what is lost can always be won back.

Well? How was it? Please don't hurt me, it was a good try, ne? At least? Please review!
