Draco's attention is pulled away from the article he's reading when he hears footsteps. His boyfriend clearly isn't completely awake as he stumbles his way to the kitchen, barefoot and shirtless. Draco snorts to himself when he hears the sound of Charlie making his coffee. Knowing that it'll take a cup and a half before Charlie will be back, Draco turns his attention back to the article.
When the redhead comes into the living room, he looks more alert and awake and dressed for the day. He offers one of the two cups in his hands to Draco. "Happy Christmas," he greets cheerfully.
Draco returns the sentiment as he takes the drink. He sets the paper to the side before taking a sip of the hot chocolate. "When are we supposed to be at your family's?" The question still feels weird, even after almost a year. He doubt that'll ever change.
"For dinner. I figured we'd exchange our gifts and then see your mum before going to my parent's house," Charlie answers. "If that's okay with you."
He agrees easily. His parents were never that big on Christmas celebrations, and even less so since the end of the war. But it seems that the Weasleys are very invested in the family-oriented holiday. His answers causes a beautiful smile to cross Charlie's face that makes Draco's heart skip a beat. The redhead puts the coffee down and heads towards the tree.
After a few moments of shifting the mountain of presents, he comes back with two messily wrapped presents and one neatly wrapped. He hands his two to Draco before sitting in his armchair.
"You first," Draco encourages, nodding toward the present.
Charlie, like most things in his life, rips in the package with ebullience that never fails to make Draco look at him with fondness. As soon as the redhead finishes pulling away the wrapping paper, he tosses his head back, laughing loudly and with enough force to shake his whole body.
Draco can't help but grin at Charlie's reaction. He had briefly considered getting him something useful, like new dragonhide boots or a better broom, but, with Charlie's reaction, he's glad that he went with a book of baking recipes and the first year's Potions book.
After a few minutes, Charlie manages to stop laughing long enough to tell Draco to open his. He picks one and gently opens it. Draco outright laughs, as he sees a white chef's hat and matching apron with Kiss the Cook on it.
He clumsily tears his way into the second gift. There's a yellow book looking up at him with Cooking Basics for Dummies in black lettering when he pulls the wrapping paper away. He laughs louder. When he looks at the other man, it cause Charlie to laugh harder, causing him to laugh more.
When the laughter subsides, Charlie grins at him. "I guess you were trying to tell me that my baking could use some improvements?"
"Just as much as my cooking apparently," the Slytherin retorts.
"But you gotta admit, you'll look great in the hat and apron," the redhead says, winking at him as he summons a bag to place all the gifts for his family in.
Draco snorts as he rolls his eyes and says nothing. He summons a potion to himself as Charlie finishes packing the gifts.
Charlie grabs it out of his hand, wasting no time downing it. He grimaces. "I swear it get fouler each time."
The blond takes ahold of Charlie's hand as he prepares to Apparate to Malfoy Manor. As he feels the familiar tug, he thinks that there couldn't be a better start to Christmas.
