Came up with this and had to write. Hope you enjoy.

Darkness and Light, Into the Chaos.

Vlad sighed as he stepped into the coffee shop. It had been a long day at the office and he needed a pick-me-up. He sighed as he walked over to the counter, placing an order for an expresso. Looking around for a table, he noticed, to his shock, a familiar head or russet hair at one of the corner tables. It was Berserker, sipping a cup of what seemed to be hot cocoa. Taking his coffee, Vlad walked over to the girl and asked, "May I join you?"

Berserker's head jerked up at the voice and she looked toward the blonde man. Recognizing Vlad, she nodded as she took another sip of her drink. "I must admit I'm surprised to see you, do you come often?" Vlad asked. Berserker nodded, pointing to her cocoa. "Yes, they do make a rather good cup of cocoa here, don't they?" Vlad asked with a chuckle, causing Berserker to nod again with a giggle of her own. "So, I haven't seen you in a while, how are things?" Berserker gave a thumbs up, and Vlad took the meaning easily. "That's good. I guess I really don't know much outside of what Darnic tells me about you kids."

They continued for a while, Vlad asking questions and Berserker giving silent answers. After a few minutes, Vlad asked a question that caught the girl off guard. "You know, I can count how many times I've heard your voice, why is it you hardly ever speak?" Berserker looked down, fingering her now empty cup. Vlad thought he wouldn't get an answer and started to think of a way to get rid of the tension when Berserker placed a hand to her neck and tapped a few times. "Something with your vocal chords?" the older man asked.

Berserker nodded. "Birth...Defect." she managed. "Father...hated...it." she added.

"He thought you inferior." It wasn't a question, but Berserker nodded anyway. "Is that why he was so abusive?"

Berserker shook her head. "Mother...died...in...childbirth." she explained. "Blamed...me."

Vlad's hatred for the man that had been convicted of his crimes a few weeks ago increased. "Berserker, listen to me and listen well." he ordered, capturing the girl's attention. "You are not responsible for your mother's death, and you are in no way inferior to anyone. If you ever forget that, we will all be there to remind you. Me, Darnic, Mordred, Fiore, Astolfo, the twins, the teachers, and Caules are all behind you."

Berserker smiled at Vlad's words. "Thank...you...Vlad." she replied with a smile. The two carried on for a while, talking about anything that was happening, and eventually the two parted with smiles on their faces.

And done. That's what I've got this time, even if it's a bit shorter than the others. Hope you guys liked it.

Until next time.
