A.n I own Nothing.

Hi everyone, sorry about the slow updates. I've been busy and a little stressed out over COVID. I hope everyone is staying safe and keeping up with social distancing and good Hygiene practices. For the last 10 weeks, I have been doing a Creative Writing course online to improve my writing and like any smart person, I have been dedicating most of my free time towards study. It's finished now so I hope to return to regular updates.

So this just a quick bit of information on this Arc. This Arc is based off the Twilight of the Gods episodes, however, no matter how hard I tried to work it, I could not come up with something cool and that I liked. So instead of sending Alucard to Apkolses with the rest of the Leauge to fight Darkside and Brainiac, I came up with something...different. Hope you like it.

As always, Please Review

Watchtower, Earth's orbit

The Watchtower was quiet, the lights were dimmed and apart from the low hum of the space stations engines and power core, there was no sound to be heard. The kitchen was empty and the low glow of the main computers in the monitor womb was about the only thing giving any indication that the space station was used for anything.

Normally the Watchtower was the now permanent home to Wonder Woman, the Princess of Thymiscria and J'onn J'onzz, the last surviving member of the Green Martin Race. The Watchtower was also the main base of The Justice League, a group of Heroes dedicated to protecting the earth from all forms of threats. Whether that be from their own planet or the stars beyond.

Today however the tower was empty. There was not a single soul on the tower. However, a large orange portal with squared patterns suddenly opened in the main hall and after a moment six figures emerged from the portal.

The first to emerge was Wonder Woman, she was followed by the Flash, then J'onn and Hawk Girl. Batman and Superman exited together; they appeared to be in the middle of a heated argument.

"Well that was fun," Hawk Girl commented.

"Yeah who knew Apokolips would be the perfect Vacation spot with its army of death demons, its tyrannical overlord and the molten fire spewing from the planet's core," Flash said sarcastically "But it wasn't all bad. Brainiac was there and knew an AI with a severe case of OCD could tie all the death and destruction together,"

"Is this some a new type of Earth humour?" J'onn asked.

"No, this is Flash being more annoying than normal," Hawk Girl commented.

"At least I'm taking it better than Mum and Dad over there," Flash retorted and gestured over his shoulder with his thumb to Batman and Superman who had not stopped arguing.

"You nearly got us all killed," Batman scolded.

"I told you and the others to go, I could have handled Darkside," Superman shot back.

"I saved your life. If I hadn't come back you would've blown up with Darkside and Brainiac,"

"I would've been fine, I'm invulnerable remember," Superman shot back. Neither Superman nor Batman was paying attention to the other members as they were too busy arguing with each other.

"Which parent is Batman?" Hawk Girl asked.

"Hard to tell, sometimes," Flash shrugged. The four other members watched Batman and Superman argue before they started to walk through the hall towards the Monitor Womb. Batman and Superman followed behind but were only focused on each other. It's due to the fact they both knew the tower did not run into anything.

It had been an interesting day. Almost 24 hours ago Darkside had come to the Watchtower, seeking aid from Superman; Brainiac was invading Apokolips and Darkside wanted Superman's to help in defending his planet. Superman was oddly fine with letting the crazed AI destroy Apokolips and leaving Darkside to his fate.

He even claimed he would send Brainiac a Fruit Basket if the AI destroyed Apokolips.

Batman and the other league members had been shocked to hear this as it was very out of character for the man of steel. Superman then told the League how Darkside kidnapped him and used him to nearly conquer the earth and it was only saved due to his cousin Supergirl and another hero named Orion.

Despite this new information, the league had still agreed to help defend Apokolips, since the League was formed to save lives. Batman also pointed out that if they stop Brainiac on Apoklaps he won't ever get off as Darkside's forces would destroy him.

After a lengthy discussion, Superman reluctantly agreed to help Darkside in exchange for a Mother box. Darkside was eagerly agreed to the exchange and handed a smaller Mother Box over to the Justice League. Superman set the Mother box to Apkolapse and entered the Boom Tube with Hawk Girl, Flash, and J'onn. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman and Batman headed off to New Genesis to find Orion at Superman's request. Just encase Darkside tried something.

Working with Darkside's forces had been hard for Superman, he was constantly looking at the conqueror's troops and over his shoulder for signs of betrayal or that this was just another one of Darkside's traps. However, Brainiac's forces and attempts to destroy Apoklapse were real, so Superman had focused his attention on the battle at hand.

Meanwhile on New Genesis Batman and Wonder Woman had found Orion, who revealed himself to be Darksides' eldest son. Swapped at birth as part of a peace treaty. However, before they could gain any information, Brainiac's fleet suddenly attacked New Genesis forcing the new gods to flee.

Theorising that Darkside was likely working with Brainiac to conquer the new Gods, Orion transported himself Batman and wonder woman to Brainiac's mother ship on Apoklapse, via his own personal Boom Tube and they met up with Hawk Girl and J'onn. After searching the ship, the League was shocked to learn that Darkside had reprogrammed Brainiac to serve him. By using Superman and the League as a distraction.

With the AI now under Darksides control it was not only attacking New Genniess but also keeping Superman prisoner. Darkside had ordered Brainiac to erase Superman's mind. Thankfully the rest of the Justice League and Orion found Superman and were able to free him in time

A well-placed smack from Hawk Girl's charged Enth metal mace freed Brainiac from Darkside's control. As a result, Brainiac stopped his attack on the New Gods and instead redirected his forces to take down Darkside and the Justice League.

Superman who was naturally pissed off fought Darkside with Orion's help. However, Batman had overloaded Brainiac's core destroying him and the ship. Despite the ship falling apart around them Superman refused to leave. Batman had no choice but to pull Superman out via Boom tube back to the safety of New Genesis.

The two had been in a heated argument ever since. Superman was angry that Batman had ruined his chance to get his revenge and rid the universe of Darkside once and for all. Whereas Batman was angry that Superman had not only let his own personal grudge get the better of him but had also placed the safety of the whole League in danger in the process.

"Man's world continues to surprise me. Every time I feel I have a grasp on it, something new comes in and proves me otherwise," Wonder Woman stated.

"Speaking of…wasn't Al supposed to be up on the tower today?" Flash remembered.

"I believe it was one of his scheduled days, yes," J'onn agreed.

"What do you think he did when he discovered we weren't here?" Hawk Girl asked.

"He might've gone down to Metropolis library," Flash suggested "Or visit the Belmont's again,"

"He could just be at his castle, wasn't he working on controlling some new power or something?" Hawk Girl pointed out.

"He did say something along those lines a few weeks ago," J'onn agreed.

"Has he mentioned anything to you Flash?" Wonder Woman asked.

"Not really, other than that he's worried how it could hurt us," Flash answered "But it's like J'onn said, it was a few weeks ago,"

"I thought you two were close," J'onn added.

"Well sure, but he doesn't talk to me about dark powers or Vampire death magic," Flash claimed.

They entered the Monitor Womb and wonder woman made sure the door stayed open long enough for Batman and Superman to walk through. J'onn floated up to the control station and began looking through the computer.

"How long do you think it'll be until Mum and Dad stop fighting?" Flash asked.

"Ten bucks says they'll be at it for an hour," Hawk Girl said.

"I'll take that bet," Flash agreed. He then looked around "Hey, where's GL? Wasn't he supposed to stay back and keep an eye on things for us?"

"Green Lantern has gone to escort a large comet on the outer edge of our galaxy. Apparently, it contains some dormant Manhunters," J'onn announced from the control console "Green Lantern did not wish to take the chance that it could hit something and wake them up in our galaxy,"

"Man, Man Hunters are so annoying to deal with," Flash groaned "No offense J'onn,"

"None taken. Martian Man Hunter is a Name your people came up with for me," J'onn claimed "I did not choose it nor did I

"You didn't contest it either," Wonder Woman said with a smile "Or deny liking it,"

"As the humans say…it has a nice ring to it," J'onn responded with a smile of his own. The truth was he liked the name. Not only was it catchy, but it the last son of Mars also felt that because the people of earth had given him a hero name, it was their way of accepting J'onn for who he was and acknowledging him as one of the earth citizens.

After all, it had been a reporter who had given Superman his hero name and it had stuck. Flash was in the same boat as was Hawk Girl and Wonder Woman's name had come not long after the league was formed.

J'onn wondered what kind of name the people of earth would give to Alucard. He knew it would take some time as the vampire preferred to not let himself be known to the public. Alucard had told the league how due to his mixed blood he was not welcomed in either vampire or human society. But that was over five centuries ago.

Surely things would be different now, after all the people of earth had accepted Superman and himself, both were refugees from the stars. Wonder woman was a demi-god and Batman while still feared was still accepted. So surly Alucard would be too.

While J'onn was thinking, Flash wounded over to the window to look down at the planet below. He liked looking over the earth from space as it truly was a beautiful view. However, his eyes narrowed as something looked off on the American coast.

Flash zoomed up to the control console, after pushing J'onn aside, he started to input commands for a view of the American coast. Specifically, Metropolis. However, what came up on the screen was not the large vibrant, and busy city that Flash was used to. Instead, there was a Metropolis sized creator with burn and scorch marks where the city should have been.

Flash blinked a few times.

"Well… this day just got a whole lot worse. Batman, I think we have a problem," Flash called out urgently.

"Putting your own personal vendetta first," Batman shouted at Superman.

"Supes, there's something you really need to see," Flash tried again. Since he was not getting through to the Dark Knight, he tired the other hero.

"Like you're in any position to lecture me on personal vendettas. The whole reason you're wearing that costume is for a personal vendetta," Superman shot back "Besides I deserve some payback after what Darkside did to me,"

"Guys,"

"My vendetta doesn't put my teammates in danger," Batman countered.

"Hello, Watchtower to Superman and Batman,"

"It was your choice to come back," Superman argued, "I told you I had it handled,"

"Oh, for the love of…WILL YOU TWO SHUT UP FOR ONE SECOND METROPOLIS IS GONE!" Flash shouted.

"That's right because of you Metropolis is…. wait WHAT?!" Batman yelled when he realised what Flash had just said.

He raced up to the console and started to type in commands. Superman however just looked out the window, focusing his supervision on where Metropolis should be. His eyes widened and he raced out of the monitor womb in a red and blue blur. A few seconds later the rest of the League saw him flying towards earth at top speed.

A shockwave was felt, when the Man of Steel broke the sound barrier.

"He better not has punched a hole through the Hull again," Batman grumbled as he continued to work. Superman had a habit of going through the hull instead of the airlock or out the Javelin bay.

"We should get down there too," Hawk Girl spoke up.

"I'll go prep the Javelin," Flash said and immediately raced out of the room.

"I'll stay here and scan for the area for radiation or anything that could give us a clue as to what happened to the city," J'onn volunteered.

"No Hawk Girl should do that," Batman ordered.

"Why do I have to stay behind?" she demanded.

"Superman's already gone down there, between him and Wonder Woman and him we will have enough flyers for scouting. Flash can also search a wider area faster, we'll need J'onns mental powers to try and locate the city," Batman reasoned "also send a message to Green Lantern, tell him to get back here ASAP,"

"Should I contact Alucard?"

"Yes, he once mentioned a locater spell. It could come in handy," Batman agreed.

Batman, J'onn, and Wonder Woman headed to the Javelin bay, when they got their Flash had the plane ready to go and they launched immediately. It only took 10 minutes to fly to the open space where Metropolis was supposed to be, Superman kneeling on the ground when they arrived with his head down.

"It's gone," Superman said when he heard the rest of the team exit the Javelin "it's all gone,"

"Hera, what could have done this?" Wonder Woman asked.

"Flash, go see if you can find anything around," Batman ordered.

"I already looked, there's nothing for miles," Superman claimed sadly.

"Then I'll go further out," Flash said and raced off.

"Wonder woman, scout around from the air," Batman ordered "J'onn, start a mental scan,"

Diana nodded, she flew off into the air, while J'onns eyes glowed yellow; indicating he was using his mental powers. Batman walked over to Superman and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, we'll figure this out," He assured.

"We shouldn't have left…we shouldn't have gone to Apokplypse," Superman said, his voiced laced with anger "This is Darksides Fault,"

"How? His army was busy with Brainiac,"

"I don't know but it is his fault," Superman hissed.

"Batman, I don't sense anyone," J'onn spoke up, his eyes going back to their normal colour "apart from the justice League…there are no minds in the area. Human or otherwise,"

Superman clenched his fists at that. Wonder woman chose that moment to land.

"I didn't see anything from the air," Wonder Woman reported.

At that moment Flash came back, leaving a trail of dust behind him.

"I searched the area, nothing but dirt and scorch marks for miles," Flash claimed "I also went out to towns further out, they're fine,"

"Did they see what happened?" Batman asked.

Flash shook his head "Some of them reported seeing a large blinding Flash in the distance, it was followed by a shockwave that could be felt for miles. There's some minor damage but nothing major,"

"A blinding Flash?"

"Yeah, one guy described it like a nuclear bomb going off…only without the mushroom cloud," Flash explained, "Think this area could be radioactive?"

"Could be, we'll have to wait for Hawk Girl to finish her scans," Batman claimed.

"Great," Flash moaned. Suddenly he got an idea "Could the city have just…blown up?"

"No, there would be debris. Ruined buildings, dead bodies. That sort of thing," J'onn claimed.

"What if it was so big it just incinerated everything?"

"Not possible. There aren't enough scorch marks for city-wide incineration," Batman claimed "if the city was incinerated then this whole area would be charred black and there would be a burnt smell,"

"Oh…right," Flash said sheepishly.

"Plus, inspiration would not leave a creator," Batman finished.

"Watchtower to Justice League," Hawk Girl's voice suddenly came through all of the Leagues Com pieces. Similatiosaly each member of the justice League activated their earpieces and listened to what the Thanagarian had to say.

"How bad is it down there?" she asked.

"It's not great Shy. there's nothing left of the city," Flash claimed.

"Did you run those scans?" Batman asked.

"I did, there isn't any trace of radiation or anything. The Atmosphere above you is ionized a lot more than what it should be but that it,"

"What about other things? Heat, EMPs or something,"

"I check for those too, nothing that out of the ordinary is showing up," Hawk Girl answered.

"What about the scorch marks on the ground?" Superman asked "Can we use that to find out what happened,"

"The grounds a little hotter than normal, but not hot enough to cause problems and certainly not hot enough to leave scorch marks," Hawk Girl claimed.

"You said something about the Atmosphere being ionized?" J'onn spoke up "could that have anything to do with what happened here?"

"I doubt it, the extra ionization source is in the lower Astrosphere, it's way too high up for it to have any effect on you or the city," Hawk Girl claimed "Sorry I don't have more to give you,"

"What about Green Lantern?" Batman asked, "Did you get in touch with him?"

"Yeah, he said he's on his way but won't be back for a while. He's really worried about that comet and will be back as soon as he can,"

"Did you locate Alucard?" Flash asked.

"No, I asked Jhon…but…" Hawk Girl trailed off.

"But?" Superman asked.

"Jhon said…Jhon said he sent him back to earth. He says Alucard was going to Metropolis Library," Hawk Girl claimed.

"So…Alucard was here when whatever did this happened," Flash claimed.

"There is no way he would have just stood by and let the city be destroyed," Wonder Woman stated "He probably fought whatever did this,"

"He clearly didn't do a good enough job," Superman snapped.

"Supes Al isn't at full power," Flash reminded him "He would have done all he could to defend Metropolis,"

"Then where is he?" Superman demanded, "and where's my city?"

"Perhaps his foe was too great for him," J'onn suggested "if that was the case, he more than likely fled back to his castle,"

"Right. Hawk Girl locate Alucard using the watchtowers systems," Batman ordered.

"That's just it, I already tried that and…"

"And?"

"And…Batman the Watchtower can't locate him…he's gone," Hawk Girls said sadly.

"What do you mean he's gone?" Superman demanded. Alucard was the league's only hope of learning what had happened to Metropolis and the 30 million people who lived in the city.

"I mean he's gone. When I type the command to locate him into the tower, the computer comes back with a big red Location Unknown stamp over the map," Hawk Girl responded.

Batman's' face fell, he had designed the tracking chip that was implanted in Alucard arm himself. The only way that the chip would not respond as if it was destroyed or affected by an EMP. However, Hawk Girl had claimed there were no traces of any form of radiation or EMPs in the area where Metropolis should be.

After the events with Lyudmil Batman had been working on an Updated chip that would not be affected by EMPs. But he hadn't finished it yet. There was always the possibility that Alucard could have taken the chip out. But even if he had, the chip's location would still show up on the Watchtowers systems. The only way it would stop transmitting would be via EMP or be destroyed.

So, either Alucard took it out and destroyed it or….it and Alucard was destroyed along with the city.

Neither option applied to the Dark Knight. He looked over at Superman and the rest of the League, he could tell by their expressions, that they were thinking the same thing.

"Keep scanning, we need to know what happened here. No matter what," Batman ordered.

Batman hoped that the city was somewhere safe after cities don't just disappear into thin air. Batman had to believe that Metropolis was after all if the city had been destroyed there would be debris and very clear evidence that

There was always the possibility that some Alien species had come and invaded earth while they were gone. But that was unlikely as Metrptios was the only city missing. Had an invasion happened, not only would there be ships orbiting the earth. Even if the invading ships weren't in orbit and were planet side like one of Flashes movies; there would be a lot more panicking and Superman would have herd it and reacted to that panicking by now.

"Superman," Batman spoke up. The Kryptonian looked at him "is its possible earth is under attack from some new race?"

"You mean like aliens?"

"Yes, could you check to see if there is any news or panicking from a hostile force?" Batman asked.

"Hang on," Superman responded and he focused his hearing. After a moment he opened his eyes "Nope, nothing out of the ordinary…the Gotham Knights are beating Central Cities Lighting Bolts 8 runs to 3 if you're wondering,"

"Seriously? How are we losing to Gotham?" Flash whined "they're like the third-worst team in the MBL,"

"I personally go the Metropolis Red Capes," Superman claimed.

"Doesn't metropolis have like 4 different baseball teams in the MBL?" Flash asked, "and aren't all of them named after you?"

"They're not all named after me," Superman claimed.

"Oh really? The Red Capes. Blue Tights. The Mighty S's and let's not forget the Flash listed while counting the teams on his fingers "there all named after some aspect of your costume,"

"Okay I see your point," Superman sighed "but I didn't tell them to name their teams after me. Too bad I won't get to see them play again,"

"You went to their games?" Flash asked in surprise "Don't the Metropolis team games cost a lot of money and always sell out within like an hour?"

"They do, but I can fly so I just fly up and sit under one of the stadium lights stands," Superman shrugged "the cameras never get the stadium lights in the shot so no one knows I'm there,"

"What if there is an emergency while the game is on?"

"Superspeed,"

"Huh, never thought you would use your powers like that," Flash said impressed, "I think I might join you for the next game,"

Superman looked down. "There won't be another game Flash," he said dejectedly.

"Sure, there will be," Flash assured "We'll figure out what happened, get the guy who did this, find your city and restore it," Superman didn't look convinced

"And hey, if not then your always welcome to come and sneak into one of my teams' games," Flash offered "I might even join you,"

"Thanks, Flash," Superman said with a sad smile.

Batman ignored the sports talk and focused on the task at hand. He didn't think Earth was under attack, but he had to be sure. So, if earth hadn't been invaded and the city wasn't blown up and there was no evidence of it being vaporized.

Which left the questions that everyone was asking?

What happened and Where was Metropolis?

He also made a mental note to figure out the best way for him to scare the Gotham's MBL team into doing better to get higher in the rankings if the Gotham Knights lost.
