Albatross
Once more the pirates have left port,
Once more they sail the sea.
The ocean's theirs to plunder,
They shall bring misery.
…
With pistol, cannon, cutlass,
They're the terror of the waves.
A gang of thieves upon the ocean,
Wage activities depraved.
…
But then one day a pirate drunk,
His wits still at a loss,
He shoots a large seafaring bird,
By name of albatross.
…
The skies above they darken.
Day soon turns to night.
The pirates look up to the clouds,
Their faces all in fright.
…
Lightning comes down from the heavens,
Obliterates the mast.
The first part of their judgement,
But by no means the last.
…
Fire starts to take their ship.
The sea breeze turns to gale.
By wind and water, fire,
By the elements they're assailed.
…
The waves are now like mountains,
Lightning and thunder clash.
Again, again, their ship is pounded,
With the force of water's crash.
…
And then at last, their greatest terror,
A kraken does arise.
Its tentacles reach upwards,
Towards the tortured skies.
…
Pistols, swords, and cannon,
The beast they try to slay.
But nothing stops the kraken,
The pirates won't be saved.
…
Their boat is split into fragments,
They swim for their dear lives.
Through the icy waters dark,
Chill cuts through them like knives.
…
The kraken, it does not pursue,
But sharks quickly move in.
Blood fills the water, screams the air,
Death makes a wailing din.
…
By daybreak, only one man remains,
Alive while the crew lost.
The least worthy of them all,
For he shot the albatross.
…
The debris, it takes him to an island,
Sand with scattering of trees.
Little food, no sign of water,
But least he's escaped from touch of sea.
…
He lies down upon the beach,
Knows that here he's doomed to die.
But in the air he sees something,
From the corner of his eye.
…
He springs up from weary rest,
Sits up upon golden sand.
Before him is a massive bird,
An albatross so grand.
…
Wordlessly it stares at him,
Then in silence off it flies.
Justice, at last's been delivered,
On this island he shall die.
…
So take heed all buccaneers,
Regardless what you believe.
Justice shall take you in the end,
Upon the Sea of Thieves.
