Mr. and Mrs. Potter of number seven, Godric's Hollow, would probably disagree if asked whether their family is normal. Mr. Potter, having been raised by Muggles, would be the first to say that their family is not normal. Mrs. Potter, having been raised by wizards, would be the first to say that their family is normal. Nevertheless, they were happy, thank you very much.

The clouds had been hanging low for days, but today was an exception, and the sun was just beginning to shine as Mrs. Potter prepared breakfast. Usually it was her husband who did the cooking, but since he had stayed up late the night before preparing lesson plans for his classes, she had decided to let him sleep in. However, that is not to say that her cooking skills had improved from the time Mr. Potter had taught her in their seventh year, and so it was a simple breakfast that she made so her two children wouldn't complain.

She was not surprised when her son entered the kitchen, his brown hair a disheveled, untamable mess. Covering his mouth as he yawned, he slumped into his customary seat at the table and mumbled a quiet gratitude when Mrs. Potter placed a plate of food in front of him.

"Do you have everything packed, Damon?" she asked.

"Yes, Mum," he responded, picking up his fork to begin eating.

Mrs. Potter's daughter arrived then, sleepy-eyed and quiet. Lily was usually full of energy, reminding Mrs. Potter of her own sister, Astoria, but in the mornings, Lily was just as subdued as Damon. Mr. Potter followed their daughter, looking very much like his children.

Once everyone was ready and wearing clothing appropriate for a Muggle station, the family loaded into the car. It should have been a long drive to London, but since they were wizards, the trip was actually quite short. This was partially due to Mr. Potter's best friend helping him modify the car to fly, including the installation of an Invisibility Booster like the one Arthur Weasley added to his own car.

At the station, Mr. Potter loaded Damon's trunk onto a cart and carefully set the owl cage on top. The small family drew quite a few looks as they pushed the cart through the crowds, but they weren't the strangest thing to be seen. Most of the Muggles were eyeing other people who dressed in outlandish clothing; wizards still didn't have a good approximation of Muggle fashion.

When they reached the magical barrier to Platform Nine-and-Three-Quarters, Damon joined his father, and together they passed through the wall. Mrs. Potter followed them with Lily. Nearby Mr. Potter heard two familiar voices discussing the educational system, but he put that aside, knowing that the Headmistress would have told him if there would be any changes to the curriculum this year.

"There they are," said Mrs. Potter, pointing ahead.

"Uncle Ron!"

Both Damon and Lily launched themselves at the man, almost knocking him off his feet.

"If it isn't my favorite godchildren!" he laughed.

"We're your only godchildren, Uncle Ron," said Lily, grinning up at him.

"Which makes you even more special," Mr. Weasley declared.

He helped Mr. Potter load Damon's trunk onto the train, although this wasn't really necessary since Mr. Potter had placed a feather-light charm on the trunk. Back on the platform they found that another family had joined the others, and all of the children were talking excitedly to each other. Mr. Potter heard Damon and Castor trying to talk Rose into choosing Slytherin with them, and to distract Mr. Weasley from that conversation, directed a question to his other friend.

"What did Percy want?" Mr. Potter asked Mrs. Weasley, who rolled her eyes.

"Nothing, really. It was actually about his children. No change to the system, I assure you."

Mr. Weasley laughed. "As if you'd let anything happen. Percy might be Minister, but he knows he can't really do anything with you as Headmistress."

"We actually do quite a bit together, Ronald," said Mrs. Weasley somewhat frostily.

"There's an innuendo in there," Mr. Malfoy observed, "but I sense it wouldn't be appreciated."

She glared at him. "I meant that government and education must interact, Draco."

The others laughed as he held his hands up defensively. Ever since his third year, when she had punched him, he'd held a certain fear of her. Mrs. Malfoy exchanged a look of fond amusement with her sister.

"So are you ready to be teaching again?" Mr. Weasley asked Mr. Potter, who sighed.

"Yes, I suppose. I really did enjoy the break, short as it was. Sometimes the children make me miss the Aurors."

"I, for one, don't miss you being a part of the Aurors at all," said Mrs. Potter. "Not only was I worried every day, but imagine how much the media would love Damon and Lily if you were still playing the part of the hero."

Mr. Potter shuddered at the thought. It was already hard enough to keep his children away from the media now. He was glad that he'd decided to resign from the Aurors and become a professor when Damon was born.

"Oi, Weasley, isn't that your sister?" said Mr. Malfoy suddenly.

Through the steam they could see another family that had just arrived on the platform. All three of the children had varying shades of red hair, which made Mr. Potter feel a little sorry for Mr. Finnigan.

"Yeah, her youngest, Rowan, is starting this year, too," Mr. Weasley answered.

"She must have had them when she was fairly young," Mrs. Potter observed.

"Daphne!" Mrs. Malfoy exclaimed in a rebuke.

"What? I didn't say it was wrong."

Mrs. Malfoy's eyes narrowed while Mr. Weasley's ears were turning red; Mr. Potter leaped in before another argument could start.

"What are the boys' names again?"

"Adam and Brian," Mrs. Weasley replied.

"Oh, I remember that," Mrs. Malfoy mused. "I work with Ginny at the Prophet, and she wanted to name her second son Albus. It's a good thing Seamus' friend, Dean, stepped in. Brian is a much better choice to honor Dumbledore."

Mr. Potter checked his watch, an old gift from the Weasley family that he still kept despite his estrangement from the matriarch. "Best get on board," he said. "The train will be leaving soon."

While the other two families went through their tradition for departure, the Potter family bade farewell to their own son. Mr. Potter knelt so that he and Damon were on the same level, matching green eyes staring at each other. Both Potter children had inherited Mr. Potter's eyes.

"You won't make it weird, will you?" asked Damon. "Call me out and embarrass me and stuff?"

"When have I ever done something like that?"

"Never," Damon acknowledged, "but you won't, will you?"

Mr. Potter held up his hand and said solemnly, "I, Harry James Potter, hereby swear to you, Damon James Potter, that I won't purposefully embarrass you at any time in school."

Damon's eyes narrowed. "What about outside of it?"

"Nor in Hogsmeade," Mr. Potter added reluctantly.

After another moment, Damon huffed, knowing that he wouldn't get a better compromise. Then, after another round of hugs, he clambered onto the train with Castor and Rose following him. Together they leaned out the window, waving to their families as the train rounded the corner. Mr. Potter stood at the end of the platform with Mrs. Potter leaning against him.

"Imagine having a son named Albus," she murmured.

"Albus Severus," Mr. Potter mused. "That'd be the worst. I'd have to be out of my mind to do that."

"It's even worse than Scorpius," Mrs. Malfoy agreed as she and Mr. Malfoy joined them. "Thank you, Harry, for talking us out of that one. I know Castor appreciates it."

He smiled at her. "That's what a brother-in-law is for, Tori."

"I still resent you for taking Dad's name, though," she added.

"Blame Daphne for that," he responded humorously. "She wanted a family name in there, and said there'd never been a Damon Potter before, so there'd be less expectations."

"What about Lily Silvia, then?" Mr. Malfoy asked, smirking.

"Mum is still alive, unlike Dad," Mrs. Potter pointed out. "Besides, Lily can change her name by marriage."

As if to emphasize her point, she glanced over to where two heads, one dark blonde and the other auburn, were close together; Hugo was showing Lily a product from the joke shop at which Mr. Weasley worked.

"Harry," Mrs. Weasley called. "We need to get to the school."

Mr. Potter smiled, knowing he couldn't be happier.

AN: For anyone wondering why Teddy doesn't make an appearance, I don't see him with Victoire if Harry isn't with Ginny. He said his goodbyes off-screen before this.

AN2: Mentions their careers, no favoritism, no clones... I hope this is better than the atrocity known as the Epilogue.
