Love in the making

chapter 2: tea for thought.

Here it is, it took a hell of a long time, but most of that was due to experiencing that empty feeling after finishing a good game, and I didn't really feel like doing anything other than laying around.(Check out the legend of heroes: trails series.)

anyhow here it is. hopefully, the next chapter won't take me however many weeks this took.

{THIS STORY HAS BEEN CANCELED} and should i decide to pick it back up i will probably rewrite it.

It was fairly late in the evening when Izuku decided to call Momo. To her, she imagined that he must have simply been busy. In truth, he had been pacing around his room wondering when the right time to call was, whether or not she had made it home, if she was busy, and a million other factors that would make calling her inconvenient.

In the end, he decided that if he waited any longer then it would be too late in the evening. So he dialed the number and waited.

The time it took for her to answer felt inconceivably long, and for a moment he considered the possibility that she had given him a fake number as some sort of prank, but then her voice came on.

"Yes hello, Momo Yaoyorozu speaking."

"H-hi… it's me." for a moment he thought that he really might have done something wrong, but affirmation came shortly.

"ah Midoriya, I was wondering when you would call, have you been busy."

"No, not rea-I mean yes, yes I have, I've been…" he struggled to come up with a fitting response, so his most prominent activity in recent times came up, "… working out." he regretted his words the moment they came out, it just sounded like a douchey thing to say.

But her response gave cause for a sigh of relief. "How diligent, I wouldn't have expected any less of my fellow class rep."

"ha-ha-ha right well I wanted to call you and now I have so I will add you to my contacts and if there is anything you want go ahead and text me." He uttered the words in a single breath and hung up on her. A decision he regretted immediately, as it seemed rude. Calling back just to apologize would seem weirder though, so he moved on to add her to his contacts.

He had never added a girl to his contacts before, there was his mom of course but she didn't count. The only others were Kacchan, though he would likely kill him if he tried calling him, and All Might, though he was saved as "Coach" as to not arouse suspicion should anyone look through his phone, And now there was a new contact, Yaoyorozu.

On Momo's end, she saw the hanging up, coming. Texting was the communication of choice for people her age, she didn't really understand it, surely talking via phone would be better for actual conversations, but learning a new form of conversation could be rewarding in of itself, so it wasn't a big deal to her. It actually made her kind of excited.

Up until Midoriya called she had been on the internet, researching how to communicate via text. Apparently, the use of Emojis was of paramount importance and she was going to make an effort to include one in every message. So she did

Yaoyorozu 18:53: hi(smiley)

on Midoriya's end, he didn't really know the etiquette of texting either so he just followed her lead and started adding emoji's to everything as well.

And so it was that the two of them became the worst kinds of people,

Midoriya 18:54: hello(smiley)

The conversation was awkward to start with. Momo's end goal was of course to discuss plans for tomorrow. She felt, however, it was only proper to ease into that topic, though in truth her reason for drawing the conversation out was because she enjoyed the socializing aspect of it, especially since Midoriya's incredible awkwardness would not be sensed through text. So she spent a short while thinking of a topic before settling on…

Yaoyorozu 18:59: So you mentioned a workout routine(flexing arm), would you mind telling me more about it.

What followed was an in-depth analysis of the "Aim to pass: American Dream Plan," as well as several time-saving methods he had learned to use relating to exercise. It did not take long before the conversation just started flowing, and Momo was right. Without the stuttering and obvious jittering, talking to the young hero-to-be was actually quite pleasant. The conversation branched out and they started talking about a broad number of topics, during which Momo started to realize just how passionate he was about all things Hero.

It didn't feel like that much, but after a good while, they both realized that they had let time slip and that it was way too late to be up texting, when they should, be sleeping. So Momo approached the issue of tomorrow directly.

Yaoyorozu: 23:46: so regarding tomorrow, I was wondering if we could meet. I would like to get to know you better.(teacup).

Given what she had asked him earlier in the school, Midoriya knew that this would come up eventually, And he dreaded it. He hadn't casually hung out with anyone since he was four. Not since Kacchan found out about his quirklessnes. But it didn't feel like anything bad would happen. It was more about the uncertainty of it all. He didn't know what lies in store for him, be it a cruel prank, school stuff, a budding friendship, or something else….

In the end, declining would just make him seem rude, especially after saying he wouldn't be busy, earlier on that very same day.

Midoriya 23:48: do you have any place in mind. (person rubbing their chin)

The response was an address to a cafe in Musutafu, not too far away from his home.

Yaoyorozu 23:52: would this place work, around 13.00 maybe. (person rubbing their chin)

Midoriya 23:52: (thumbs up)(teacup)(coffee mug)

Yaoyorozu 23:53 great, but now I need (sleeping person), bye.

And so it was decided. And as he lay in bed that night, trying to sleep, a single thought drifted through his mind. "What have I gotten myself into."

The next morning Momo was awoken by the Yayorozu family butler, Mr. Jeeves. Typically on her days off Jeeves would let her sleep in, however, last night Momo had requested that he wake her at a specific time so she did not oversleep.

He was knocking on the door "Miss Momo, as per your request I am about to come in."

He then waited for a second or two before stepping in. He was carrying a plate, with a cup of tea, as British as himself.

"Good morning Jeeves."

"Good morning to yourself Miss." The butler said setting the tea next to her on her nightstand. "I see that you are awake, that is good. Once you have finished getting yourself ready I will have breakfast prepared downstairs." And with that, he left

On most days she would have had reservations about being awoken early after being up so late the night before. But today was different, it was as if all the excitement of what lay in store for her today was only just now becoming apparent to her. and now there was nothing to conceal her bounciness.

She leaped out of bed and skipped over to her wardrobe in order to pick out an outfit. To be quite honest she was somewhat unsure as to what to wear. She, in her humble opinion, had an impeccable sense of fashion. But she felt the need to wear something casual. So, she took her phone and googled casual clothing.

What she found did not line up that much with what was in her wardrobe. It was all bright colors, shirts with slogans, and booty shorts. Her wardrobe had none of that.

But her optimism could not be kept down, and so, she simply decided to think about whilst she took her morning shower.

When she eventually stepped downstairs for breakfast, she was wearing a red polo shirt, skinny jeans, and a white light jacket. There was a clear spring in her step.

"Ah, excellent timing miss. I just completed your breakfast." Jeeves said, pouring tea into a cup.

Before her Yaoyorozu saw toasted rye bread with apricot marmalade, sliced fruits and berries, some cheese, Greek yogurt with müsli and honey, and finally a cup of black tea with milk and honey, what she considered a standard breakfast.

She sat down and took a sip of the tea, savoring every aspect of it. "Might I ask what flavor this is, it is absolutely delightful."

The butler looked over at her from the kitchen counter, "it's a Harrods no. 42 miss. you've had it before." She wouldn't have guessed. It tasted like earl grey, but better, somehow. The butler spoke up once more, "If you don't mind me asking miss, you seem more excited than on most days, might I ask why?"

Happily, she answered. "I am going to meet up with one my classmates today, and "hang out", as it were."

This gladdened Jeeves quite a bit, "ah I see." Momo had always been a lonely child, and to see that she was on her way to making friends was promising to the Butler. "would you care to tell me their name?" he asked politely.

"His name is Izuku Midoriya."

Jeeves froze up. "So, it's a boy that you're seeing!"

"Yes, does that matter?" She asked, confused as to his change in demeanor

Jeeves sighed, "no, I suppose it doesn't. Will you be requiring a ride?"

"It is over in Musutafu, so I will be taking the train. Though a ride to the train station would be nice if you have the time."

That was not the answer he was hoping for. "very well, I shall go get things in order." He felt the increasing urge to drink of the family's gin reserve, but if he was going to be driving, that wouldn't do.

Izuku had arrived at the place a good long while before they were supposed to meet. He had been meaning to check it out ever since it opened.

It was near a beach, or more specifically the beach, the beach he had cleaned up during his training with All Might. After it got clean, people started returning to the beach, and the businesses that had previously been struggling started booming and many more came to start up. It was one of the few things in his life that he felt truly proud of.

The day had gotten hotter than the morning winds would have suggested, so he decided that relaxing on the beach until the time had come would be the best move. By "Relaxing," he of course meant, to walk around and pick up after litterers. He had spent the better part of a year cleaning this place up and he'd be damned before he'd let someone dirty it once more.

And that was the sight Momo was greeted with when she arrived. A green haired teen in cargo shorts and an All Might-colored-plus ultra-shirt, picking up trash in the middle of the day. "Good day Midoriya, hard at work I see."

He flinched unexpectedly from the comment, almost as if he had been caught doing something bad."She came early too!" he looked her over, he had never seen her out of uniform before. Everything she wore seemed to be of an expensive brand. And as he drifted towards her face he saw the smile that she was wearing. She was almost jumping with excitement, the bright smile she wore, infectious to a fault.

"Ya...Mo...Ya...Mi...ergh...blerh… huh?" he blurglebargled out awkwardly.

She had to physically resist the urge to facepalm from his behavior, she thought they were past this. "so… why is it that I find you here, picking up trash. If you don't mind me asking?"

"that is I… uh." part of him just wanted to tell the truth, if only a part of it. He wanted to say that he had cleaned up the beach during the training he did to get into U.A, after all, this beach was his pride and joy.

But a bigger part of him felt that being too prideful was an unattractive quality and that he would come off as bragging. So he said, "s-someone worked very hard to clean up this beach, and I think that littering it is d-disrespectful." "nailed it," Of course he could have probably said anything since it was just polite small talk before she got the point. "So why are you here so early?"

"Oh I was given a ride to the train station by the family butler, how about you"

"family butler, just how rich is she?" "I-I don't live too far from here, S-so."

"oh so you don't live too far from school then, that must be nice."

"W-well Musutafu is quite big so I end up riding the train most days. But you're right I do live closer than most." there was an awkward, short pause of silence "A-anyhow since we're both here we should probably go to the cafe"

"You'll hear no objections from me, let us get going."

Once they were at the cafe, they both bought something to drink and sat down in a corner, with Momo getting some earl grey and Izuku getting the same due to decision anxiety.

For a good while they just sat there and spoke, and Izuku(much to Momo's relief) was a lot less nervous.

Though from his perspective, it would be rather hard not to get immersed in a discussion, when the other person was practically bouncing on her seat in excitement over the most mundane of topics.

After a while, that easiness dissipated when Momo asked "So why is it that you're so jittery all the time?"

that caught him off guard "straight to the point huh," "I-I I huh what, t-that-I don-I-I'm not j-jittery."

She giggled lightly, "well I don't think that's true, I mean, just in that sentence alone you stuttered more often than not. Besides, even if you could deny being nervous around most people, you at least can't deny that you practically jump at your own shadow every time Bakugo does something. So what's the story behind you two? it almost seemed like he wanted to kill you, both during the quirk apprehension test, and the Hero vs Villains scenario."

"w-well," he was in a real bind now, he didn't feel like disclosing the whole story, well, he couldn't disclose the whole story, not without revealing All Might's secret.

"S-so it's like this, y-you know I have a quirk, that i'm k-kinda bad at using. Well the reason for that is because until recently, I was believed to be quirkless."

Izuku stared down at the table and clenched his fists, "When I found out that… that I didn't have one, I was four, I… "sigh" I sort of lost all my friends, Bakugo being one of them. I haven't really had many positive interactions with people since then, especially not with people my age, Ki...Teenagers can be really cruel."

She spent a short while processing this information, she was well aware of peoples harsh opinions about the quirkless, after all her father shared many such opinions, though they always seemed a bit illogical to her.

when Izuku looked up from the table she was looking at him expectantly, as if waiting for more, perhaps details about his past with Bakugo. "B-but that's all I'm comfortable with saying so, p-please don't ask any more of me, p-please."

She sighed, "very well." She looked at him, straight in the eyes for but a moment before continuing. "I-I can relate in some manner, I wasn't mistreated in my youth, but I too did not get any real chances to spend some downtime with people my age, due to me being homeschooled."

"I see..." He had suspected as much, she was, after all, very excited about the most mundane interactions outside of school, and he knew that if his nervousness didn't overshadow it, than the same excitement would show in him. "well lets t-talk about something else, how about family, how is yours." It was a subject he had wondered about for some time, everything about her exuded richness, but asking what her parents worked with seemed a bit direct, not to mention rude.

"well… where do I begin? I have my mother, father and Jeeves, our butler. I also have a half-sister on my father's side. and though I do feel close to her she is quite a bit older than me and moved out when I was two… so I didn't really get to grow up with her. how about you?"

"No siblings here, at least not that I know of. I just live alone with my Mom she's uh... she's great. she uh... she works a couple of different part-time jobs to support us, and though my dad left when I was around four he still sends money every now and then, so… I guess that's something."

he was looking quite solemn, and Momo, wanting to get the good vibes going again, knew just what would get him excited. "well ahem, as far as my parents go… my mother is the CEO of a famous support company and my dad… my dad is a pro hero, from a long line of heroes actually.

As expected he lit up at that. "Really, is it anyone I'd know"

and now the mood was back and her face lit up too, as it had before. "Possibly… He's called Thunderstruck."

and as she hoped, the boy's eyes went wide. "No way." he went for the backpack he had brought and started digging through it furiously until he found a notebook.

He flipped through it until he found the right page. "This thunderstruck?" He showed her a page of the notebook with a crude sketch depicting her father in his costume, the rest of it filled with notes.

"Yeah that's him, now, may I see that if you don't mind." It wasn't really a question, as she grabbed it out of his hands to have a look herself.

"N-now wait a minute."

Ignoring the boy she looked over the page, or rather pages as she discovered it was more than just one, all detailing known aspects of the hero, as well as speculation regarding things her father had chosen not to reveal in interviews.

"This is most impressive, the notes may be a bit unorganized but they are quite extensive, though I see some fault." She pointed at a page. "you speculate here about the limitations of my father's quirk. And though you are correct in assuming that he needs a fuel source, the fuel he needs is fat, not water."

he grabbed the notebook back and out of nowhere, almost as if he had the creation quirk and not her, he conjured forth a pen and started taking notes. "ah so he uses the fat within his body and converts it to energy that he can discharge in the form of electricity Perhaps that is the fuel source for Yaoyorozu's quirk as well though there is always the possibility…"

at this point he was mumbling furiously, not stopping for any noticeable breaths.

Though most people would tell Izuku to slow down or to just shut up completely, Momo seemed to be able to comprehend his ramblings as clearly as normal speech. "Yes, you are quite right though you might want to stop for breath sometimes though, oxygen is important after all."

"s-sorry," he scratched the back of his head awkwardly, "and uh thanks." He then reached for his backpack and got a second notebook out, this one, singed at the edges.

"he couldn't possibly have more on him" as he was writing stuff down Momo grabbed for the notebook. "please, let me see."

"N-no don't," but it was too late.

What she found was a sketch that looked like her in her hero costume, as well as notes regarding her skills and quirk.

Power 2/5 speed 3/5 technique 4/5 intelligence 6/5 cooperativeness 5/5.

the calculations regarding her stats wasn't the most surprising part though.

he had correctly deduced her process for creating her objects, a process that was fairly complicated. the only thing that was wrong being her fuel source, which he had been in the process of correcting.

"This is amazing." And amazing it was, to be able to ascertain such detail after only knowing her a few days, incredible. There was always the possibility that he was a stalker or something. But that was unlikely seeing as she lived in a highly secure area, and she didn't have much of an online presence, that and he just didn't seem like the creeper type, not to her anyway.

"d-do you really think so." It wasn't really something he had ever received praise for before, most people just thought it was weird or pathetic.

"Yes truly, it shows that you are truly dedicated to hero-work." their eyes met for a few moments longer than most before Izuku rapidly turned away

that was when they realized the time, and that they had been there for far longer than planned.

Momo was the first to speak up."Hey listen, I've had a great time, it was the most fun I have had for many years."

"I-I uh… same, perhaps we could do it again sometime."

"I'd like tha…"

"SCREAM" BOOM."

Something was happening outside, and before any words could be exchanged they both rushed outside.

There was chaos, some villain had had a trigger breakdown outside, and people where currently scattering, waiting for a hero to arrive and save them.

The villain was covered head to toe in sharp spines and had hands like great clubs. He appeared to have broken a stall and injured the merchant.

Before anything could be said Izuku was running towards the chaos.

"Izuku! Stop!" she shouted after him, not realizing she had used his first name. Part of her too felt the Immense need to rush into action. But an even greater part of her was telling her that it was illegal, not to mention dangerous.

But then Izuku stopped dead in his tracks, not because of her words mind you, but because a hero had arrived, and some hero it was.

Before them, a flaming fist slammed into the villain burning any spines to a crisp before they could even touch the hero.

The villain was sent flying into the sands of the beach, screaming, before going unconscious.

Momo ran up to Izuku, both of them staring in awe at the hero before them.

Because before them, stood no other hero than Endeavor, the Nr.2 hero and the father of one of their classmates.

The hero was in his civvies, his right sleeve burned off due to his attack. "I was on my way home when I heard the screams. Imagine my surprise when I found out there were still villains stupid enough to attack in the middle of Musutafu, home of U.A."

He walked over to the villain, cuffed him and then scanned around with his eyes to find any noteworthy individuals, such as reporters, or police officers. His eyes then met with the teenagers' and walked over to them.

"You are the second student in my son's class to get in on recommendations. Miss Yaoyorozu, correct."

The abruptness had caught Izuku off guard. He was truly an intimidating figure, but Momo simply smiled and nodded. "Yes sir, that is correct."

Then Endeavor turned to Izuku, "and who is this, your boyfriend."

He wasn't anywhere near as calm as she was. "I T-that's n…"

Before he could finish that sentence the hero interrupted him, turning to Momo. "It doesn't matter. I just wanted to tell you to give it your all in the upcoming sports festival. My son needs the challenge." at that the hero gave a slight nod. "That will be all Miss, have a good day."

the two teenagers turned to each other, and in unison, they thought. "crap, the sports festival, I had completely forgotten about that."

That was that for this chapter.

next chapter: the U.A sports festival, expect it to be a bit jumpy.

As always, if something is peeving you about the way I write, feel free to let me know, and I will take it under consideration
