First Brooklyn Nine-Nine story. Hope it's good!
I don't own Brooklyn Nine-Nine or the characters. I hope there's a season six!
Even though he grew up in Brooklyn, Jake Peralta didn't go to the beach. He was scared of seaweed that touched his feet and the weird people that went to the beach. He also hated sharks and he kept thinking of the story his father told him about people going to the ocean to pee. The ocean was just a big toilet in Jake's mind.
But as always there was someone that changed Jake's mind: Amy Santiago.
Unlike Jake, Amy saw only good things about the beach. It was good for the lungs to breathe that air, the water hitting the rocks made a beautiful sound and she always remembered the time when she was five and she had ice cream with her family by the parlor.
She found out, on a sunny Sunday morning that Jake hadn't gone to the beach since he was seven years old in a field trip. Since it was their day off she decided to take him to the beach.
"Amy, I don't like the beach. There's nothing good about it! There's sharks there, you know? They eat your feet! And there's pee everywhere! And… little green plants that touch your feet!"
"Seaweed, Jake. Look, we don't need to get in the water. I actually don't like the ocean water. But you like ice cream, right?"
That question made Jake perk his ears.
"I'm listening."
"I'm not saying anything else. We are spending our day at the beach. End of discussion. Now, get in the car!"
Jake knew there was no way he was winning the fight. Or the war.
He got inside the car and put his seatbelt on. Then, he turned the radio on and started humming the songs.
Amy heard that and smiled. She loved when Jake did that. He only did that when he was happy or in the shower. Which meant he actually wanted to go to the beach. Or was happy about being with her. Either way, if Jake was happy Amy was happy.

The car ride was silent, without considering Jake's humming or, from time to time, sing the songs. Off key, like always, but Amy still laughed and sang along.
They parked the car and walked, hand in hand, down the parlor. Jake saw a coffee shop that sold ice cream and excitedly looked at Amy. She shook her head which made Jake turn his smile upside down.
They kept walking until they got to a part where there were chairs and they were alone. They sat there enjoying the sound of the ocean. Amy put her head on Jake's shoulder and closed her eyes. Jake noticed a tear falling from her cheek and decided to ask something that was with him ever since they left the house that morning.
"Amy, what's the real reason for why we're here?"
"I told you. You said you never…" Jake interrupted her
"We both know that's only half the story."
Amy looked at her fiancé's adorable eyes. She breathed in and out and tried to hold his hand. She found it and the tears started to come faster.
"I… when you and Rosa were in prison me and the Nine-Nine were trying to find a way to get the two of you out." She sniffled "I was going nuts in the precinct. I didn't find anything, no one did, and every time I looked up I saw your desk and you…"
"I wasn't there." Jake completed. Amy nodded. "Amy… I'm sorry"
Amy looked at Jake but all she could picture was his empty desk during his absence.
"That's why I wanted us to come here today. I came here all the time when I was at my worst. I came here trying to get the waves to release you from jail and get you back to me. To just hold you once more. I needed to show them I got you back."
"You did. You got me back." Jake smiled. They got closer to each other, so close that they almost melted and formed one person.
They spent a lot of time there, with Jake silently thanking the waves for taking care of his Amy while he was away.
After a while Amy heard Jake's belly roar and she laughed.
"Come on. Let's eat."
They both got up and found a restaurant near that place. They ate, first in comfortable silence, then, when Jake got his food, Amy started to laugh at his attempt on eating with sticks. She then taught him how to use the sticks and he finally did it. Not before he commented how hard people make look, but Amy makes it seem so easy. She blushed at the commented but Jake didn't notice.
They left the restaurant after paying and walked around the parlor. They finally spotted the car, even though they weren't looking but instead of stopping, Amy kept walking.
"Amy? The car is right here." Jake tells her
"I know"
Jake looks at the car and then at Amy, that kept walking. He decides to run and catch up with her and try to understand what she was doing.
"Okay, Amy? Where are we going?"
"I thought you wanted ice cream. Well, I'm getting you ice cream."
Jake stopped her and made her look at him.
"Really?"
"Yes!" That made him grin like a five year old.
They chose the ice cream and sat on a bench near the car, eating the ice cream. Jake was making a mess, having ice cream on his hands and face so Amy had to take baby wipes from the car she kept on her purse since she started to date Jake and cleaned his face and hands. He thanked her for the ice cream and the cleaning and they went to the car where they sang to the music on the radio until they reached their apartment where they woke up the next morning, with Amy ready to go to work and tackle the challenges that their job had and with Jake that fell asleep with his head inside the milk bowl.
