Well well I see some of you enjoyed the whole fight scene with Kuro and my character also I'm very surprised one of you reviewers understood why the fight went the way it did.

Other than that I'm just here to say hello and welcome to you chapter 9 the beginnings of the the Barati arc, in this chapter I decide my character plucks a certain thorn before it ingrains itself into the body of the story as well as note something that a friend of mine has noticed and basically explain something that in most OP SI's or fics that include new characters in the Straw Hat pirates as a BIG FUCKING NO NO!

And it's a pretty big reason why it's a no no cause it could literally break the fic before it even takes off, even I admit I would have been in that same situation if I didn't notice it until my friend pointed it out for me which in action caused me to think of the reasoning for my character was doing, realizing what he was doing and finally knowing why he was doing it.

So this chapter is going to be interesting cause questions will be asked and within time they will be answered appropriately.

Now to the reviews, to that person who asked if my character is getting a Devil Fruit, I'm sorry to say no he is not getting one of those, to me as DF's are cool as shit in SI they can somewhat be over used to the point where sometimes a character who is being written often has their previous skills that were established be looked over until later on when the author remembers and basically just throws in that their character suddenly used a more upgraded version of their skill and showing no real progress of someone training their characters skill to get to that point.

That and they use and abuse the one thing that should explain all and every training experience ever Flashbacks.

Yeah won't go into those but let's just say using flashbacks to explain why someone's skills that have never really been used once ever since they got their new powers suddenly get a huge boost is just lazy.

Moving I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and I'm sorry for putting a downer for those who expected more from this AN, this time it was just to explain somethings that I was thinking about while I was writing this chapter.

Chapter 9: Barati battles part 1

"Uuuurgh why does my everything mildly hurt?" I groaned out, damn I feel like I've been asleep for ages. I wonder why mum hasn't woken me up yet? Pretty sure she would have at least woken me up to do something, like vacuum the floors or some crap like that.

Wiping my eyes I slowly sat up to see how everything in my room was.

"Where the fuck is my xbox?" I first said before I slowly realized that this wasn't my room in fact this looked like a room in the middle of ship a ship that… oh fuck sakes.

"I'm still in One Piece." I breathed out, placing my head on my hands already wanting to die or stay sleeping, which now that I thought about it sounded like a great idea!

BOOM!

"I knew this shit was too damn fucking good to be true." I breathed out before throwing my blanket off only to pause getting up and stare at my left leg that was covered in bandages, suddenly my flash's back and I'm reminded of what happened for me to get these.

"Argh fucking Kuro and his stupid ass sword claw things." I grumbled before making my way over to grabbing a nearby pair of pants laid out for me. I struggled slightly to put them on but I ignored it to put them on.

Once on I quickly grabbed a black shirt that seemed to be prepared like how the pants were, threw that on and walked out of my room, still feeling pain going through my body I continued out of my room regardless of pain.

It was semi difficult but I managed with little to no problems as I moved through the lower deck, annoyed with the fact I had to move at a slow pace.

Moving up the stairs I paused mid step as I heard someone start yelling out random things, rolling my eyes. I had a feeling I knew what was going on now, continuing upwards until I finally hit the main deck where I saw a random guy with sunglasses started throwing out random fucking spews of crap about brothers or something.

Honestly I just woke up, I'm in slight pain and by what I'm going by is a couple days to a week with the way the main mast had been rebuilt so that told me exactly what I needed about the time.

Moving onwards I watched as the glasses wearing man turned his eyes to me and started to wave his sword at me trying to intimidate me, bitch I got stabbed and kicked some stupid ass pirate that tried to kill me so this was nothing much to me.

Lunging forwards despite my pain I threw my left leg upwards slamming the bottom of my foot into the glasses wearing man's chest I watched as his body seemingly flew until his back hit the nearby railing.

"Urgh ok ow that hurt more than I would like it to." I spoke dropping my leg back down as I felt it flare back upwards in more pain.

"Hamish your awake!" Hearing the yell I quickly held up my hand and I caught the face Of Luffy who was obviously going to be the one to try and hug the crap out of me.

"Yes I'm awake, should I be back in bed absolutely, am I tired and want to fall asleep oh definitely but someone decided to start some shit so I had to get up and see what the hell is happening, all in all Luffy I'm not happy." I lectured before pushing the rubber bodied idiot away from me.

Sitting down on the deck I slowly laid down into a more comfortable position.

"So mind telling me what the hell happened over the last few days since I've been out?" I asked Luffy who while not the best person to rely on for detailed information, thankfully gave good summaries that I could surprisingly decipher with some well… not so easy deciphering skills I had.

What can I say, I speak random idiot.

"Oh you were out for a week our ship is fixed with some mystery things or something, then I got a bunch of food then Nami hit me on the head, Usopp joined oh then we met this bush guy in this box oh and he had these weird looking animals with him and then we decided to have some with the cannons and BOOOM we killed a rock with the help of Usopp and then that weird guy up and yeah."

This is going to take a minute to decipher but I can tell off from what Luffy said, everything that happened in Canon happened all while I was out, meaning nothing happened while I was away and everyone else had to deal with Luffy being Luffy.

"Great so nothing happened while I was away, lovely." I said casually feeling slightly relieved that nothing bad happened while I was-

"Well I mean-"

"Luffy told me nothing else happened while I was out." I more or less begged Luffy.

"He means to say that the ship has a new paint job and we have a new flag." Hearing that I looked over and smiled slightly when I saw the swordnut walking over.

"Morning first mate, it's good to see you up and about, how's the leg?" Zoro asked as leff out a huff.

"It's alright hurts, could use some painkillers but I'm alright for now." I noted casually as I noticed when I kicked that sunglasses dude it was very… easy so to speak.

"RIght uh… Johnny!? the hell is he doing here?" Zoro suddenly questioned obviously seeing our newest guest.

"Well I kicked him into the railing cause his constant shouting was aggravating my head." I pointed out in an obvious way, "Which I would like to say is impressive since of my-"

"Johnny may not look like it but he's isn't as strong as you think." and like that there goes the small amount of pride I had in myself.

"Yeah well tell him to lift some weights and maybe he won't be so weak then." I quickly fired back feeling moderately annoyed with how I put down.

"Shishishi, you're funny as ever Hamish," Luffy exclaimed in chuckle, blinking in surprise. I couldn't help but smile at Luffy's compliment. I mean at least he's happy about me.

"Z-Zoro? W-what are you doing here?" I heard the hard breathing of the guy, Johnny who I just kicked into the railing.

"A lot of things but what are you doing here? where's Yosaku?" Zoro questioned his supposed friend.

"H-h-he's dying!" Oh great the theatrics.

"Hey Where's Usopp?" I suddenly asked wondering where the long nose sniper was until I heard the sound of a door being kicked open.

"Hey Hamish!" Hearing my name I turned my head around and watched as Usopp came running over with his hands holding a large cloth holding something inside.

"I just wanted to-uh is he ok?" When Usopp asked I looked back over to the crying Johnny and the moderately confused Zoro who was awkwardly trying to get a better explanation out of his old time friend but was failing badly, if I might add.

"Oh you know something."

20 minutes later

"So allow me to recap, one day your friend dropped dead to the world, no Luffy it does not mean his friend died it means his friend was knocked out and trying to help after what you asume was a couple of days of sailing around with no real destination in mind you decided to anchor you small ship next to a rock formation where you laid your friend on to try and ease him and suddenly there was an explosion and yadda yadda yadda you try and attack us and long short here you are, did I miss anything?"

"Pretty sure there was a banana in there."

"No Luffy there was no banana at any point of that recap, speaking of bananas though you do know your friend has scurvy correct?" I ultimately asked, looking at the kneeling form of Johnny with a blank stare.

"What does bananas have anything to do with scurvy? And what's scurvy?" Johnny promptly questioned.

"Bananas as in fruit, specifically fruits that contain Vitamin C, and Scurvy is a disease that causes the following weak arms, legs, a strange weakness to everything and finally bleeding through the skin." just to prove my point the person in question that had scurvy was laying right next to Johnny started bleeding for no apparent reason.

"H-how do we cure this, there has to be a way isn't there!?" Johnny yelled in panic while i rolled my eyes before looking over just in time for Usopp to back up from the cafeteria holding a jug of freshly squeezed orange juice.

"Ah Good timing Usopp just when I needed you."

"Ohohohoho well of course since I am Captain Usopp the greatest pirate around doesn't mean I don't have a kind heart!" Ooooooooh I knew I forgot something.

"Zoro, you mind just making sure your friend drinks this while I go talk to Usopp?" I asked Zoro who took his annoyed look away from Usopp before giving me the briefest of nods he could give before walking over and taking the jug off Juice from Usopp's hands.

"Thank you, Now Usopp you mind coming with me for a minute. I wanna talk to you about something." I said getting up onto my feet and fumbled about just so I could get used to walking around like an old man for a while, god I seriously going to need some supplements or something so I can keep up with everyone's extremely fast healing factors, once I felt better about walking I quickly to gesturing for Usopp to follow right behind me.

Once I felt like we were out of everyone's earshot, AKA at the front of the ship I decided to sit down on the deck gesturing Usopp to do so as well.

"Ok Usopp I'm going to say this now, do you want to be on this ship?" I asked simply as I wanted to get this over and done with before anything else goes on.

"Wha-of course I do!" Usopp yelled, sounding slightly hurt from my sudden questioning.

"Good good, do you want to be a part of this crew?"

"Uh well yeah." Usopp sounded more confused before I gave him a nod of understanding.

"Then you need to stop with the whole captain thing, you're not the captain of this crew Luffy is."

"Wha-but that's-"

"It's not unfair Usopp, I don't know what happened or what Luffy said to get you on this ship but you're mistaking his hand of invitation as a way for you to do whatever you want." I told Usopp in the most blunt way possible, not bothering to cut any or all corners with my words at all.

"Wha-coming from you, that is big talk, you're worse than me, coming on to the crew and throwing away your orders like your the captain!" Usopp suddenly yelled in anger.

"Usopp I'm the first mate my priority is to be the second to the captain, now you may not have noticed this but everything I say is like an order from the captain himself, the only few times that is untrue is when Luffy gives the order himself or when he tells me off for making an order that he does not approve of." I quickly cut in as I remembered every other time I told Zoro or Nami what to do,/ not once did Luffy bite my head off or told me off for doing something he didn't like.

"And let's also not forget that I had a long, long day back then, so my mentality was terrible I knew Luffy understood this," That was a bilant lie, I actually didn't know what Luffy thought of me during those times and I was honestly too scared to ask what he thought about it now. "And that is why I did everything, so don't accuse me of trying to be the captain, I'm an asshole I admit that but I will follow that rubber man till the ends of the fucking sea and you can trust me on that."

That was another lie, I didn't know how far I would go to follow Luffy, if I had the chance to go back home I would probably take it then and there, but until then I knew what I was saying was going to be law so I was going to stick to what I said and that was that.

"I-I…" Usopp seemed to stumble backwards in a mental fashion from my words as he tried to find the correct words to find a defense to his logic.

"Sigh Look I'm not going to throw you off the ship, I just wanted you to know that you have to make a choice either commit to having Luffy be the Captain or… well you know the rest." I said before pushing myself back onto my feet and made my way back to the group.

Not only did I give Usopp a lot to think about, so did.

"I fucking hate these mental BS things." I couldn't but breath out wishing for myself to drop back to sleep in my bed already.

1 hour later

Barati, the most famous sailing restaurant in the east blue, home to the finest chiefs of all time we would have gotten there sooner but we had some… complications.

"I'm sorry you are going to arrest us but because of prior agreements you are going to ignore us? I don't think I've ever met anyone this lazy about doing his work." This coming from the guy who casually slept in and did jackshit at home, but since that was then and this is now I had a little bit more leeway.

"Ten times out of ten he'll fire a cannon at us, like to make a bet against that." Nami suddenly asked, the two of us leaning against the railing while we watched as Ironbody or whats his face casually sailed by.

"That is a suckers bet… bet you Luffy will end making everything worse."

"Deal fifty thousand?" Nami said coming in against the idea that Luffy our captain wouldn't make things worse, hah now that's just even more of a sucker's bet.

"Deal." I said as we both stood back and watched the incoming shit show.

BOOM!

"Ah! oh no they are going to sink us!" Luffy exclaimed as he tried to stretch his arms out to stop the cannon ball which did work luckily enough but the rubber man of a captain was sent flying backwards into the air annnnnd he's made a hole in the baratie.

"...Shit"

"Pay up." was all I said before Nami in a now disgruntled mood pulled out and slapped a bundle of bills into my hand, sweet I just got spending money.

"This is definitely going to be a better day." I said with a grin before sliding the wad into my pants pocket.

Moving away from the rail I stretched my arms over my head and felt all the bones in my back crack right into place, seeing as I was now forced to wear new clothes as Nami took it upon herself to discard all of my original clothes except my shoes I now stood in my brother leather jacket that had a simple white dress shirt, navy blue slacks held up by a belt that held a holster on the left of my belt for my new revolver and sheath for my knife on the back of said belt and obviously on my feet where my sneakers.

"Alright you guys saw where Luffy was heading to, let's get ourselves over there and make sure he doesn't break anything else!" I yelled to everyone else.

Once the ship was docked alongside the Barati we all made our ways into the restaurant, everyone appeared to brighten up especially when the aroma of a hot meal slapped everyone in the face.

Shit it's been awhile since I've eaten anything substantial and I could already find myself planted onto one of the tables with the most seats.

"Wow this place is pretty fancy." Usopp exclaimed, everyone seemed to nod in agreement while I leaned back against the chair not really relaxed as I felt an uncomfortable shiver go down my spine.

"You alright there Hamish?" Zoro seemed to ask, his tone of voice making it sound like he didn't really care if I said anything.

"Not really as much as I would love some food I got a feeling, a bad feeling." I said Nami being the least caring just let out a snort obviously amused by my superstitious.

"Really a bad feeling, you've been asleep for more than a couple days and already you have bad feelings?" Nami joked while I just rolled my eyes.

"Yeah yeah yeah laugh it up, Let's eat and get out of here." I said picking up one of the menus and quickly went through looking for something that could satiate my needs.

Within 20 minutes later we had our meals ordered and ready and our captain finally came out with our glasses of water, saying his reaction to us casually sitting around doing nothing would have been humourous especially when Zoro made Luffy drink his own snort water… yeah that's pretty damn gross. But my mind was somewhere else right now, specifically with the couple across the way, Ironbody or whats his face sat trying to make a face to his date but his waiter was not taking his shit for anything and well long story short not only were we getting dinner but also a show.

"Wow that guy just took on that marine captain like it was nothing." Usopp noted openly obviously impressed with how the waiter took everything with absolute ease.

"Meh he's not that good." Zoro said not really caring about how the waiter handled himself, Jesus Zoro hasn't even met him and already he hates him, can't wait to see his reaction when he joins our crew.

"Captain Ironbody we have a problem, the prisoner h-hes escaped!" Oh there's Canon!

"What!? you mean the same one that we captured this morning!? Impossible he should be starving to death how could he have escaped!?"

"Ahahahaha How could he escape wow how ironic." I casually commented with a chuckle gaining Ironbody's attention.

"What!? Wait your-"

"Those pirates that casually and ever so lazily tried and absolutely failed in sinking our ship yeah that's us also thanks to you this place has a hole in the ceiling by the way manager since he's the one who caused the unfortunate hole can you charge him for the damages I mean our crew is poor but that marine captain over there in the three piece suit must have enough money to eat here and wear that at the same time." I quickly said looking up at the large muscled sailor of a manager who blinked in surprise before his mouth moved upwards in a happy go lucky grin.

"Ey is that so, you're the one who damaged our restaurant huh? Sanji leave him to me, you deal with the customers." The manager exclaimed walking over and grabbing the purple haired man by the shoulder and started dragging him off.

"And like that I've dealt with Luffy's debt, that is unless he's insulted the owner…" As soon as I said that my head swung to Luffy who started to slowly chuckle.

"Well about that." When Luffy said those words I was already placing my head in my hands and groaning in despair.

"Ok call me when lunch is ready I'm going to go outside and take a breather." I told everyone as I pushed myself onto my feet and made my way to the exit.

Just as I walked through the double doors though I found myself with a large piece of metal shoved into my head, the person holding the metal was a heavily breathing man with dark circles under his eyes that were slightly shadowed by the gray headband on his head.

Seeing how this was going to go I decided to just take the nicer route this time.

"What can I do for you?"
