CUTTER

The sharp blade of the knife bit into Dean's neck starting a trickle of blood meandering down his neck. "Look, man, you don't have to do this," he murmured softly. The behemoth behind him said nothing and pinned as he was, Dean was unable to fight back, forcing him to try talking again.
"Sammy, please. I don't know what's going on but..." The sting at his neck grew as with each word, the knife dug just a little deeper, increasing the flow of red.
"Sam, put the knife down. We can talk about this."
The blade glided across his neck.
Dean woke with a scream and jerked to a sitting position. Breath coming in gasps, he struggled to erase the images from his nightmare. Reaching up to soothe the phantom sting at his neck, he was shocked to feel a sticky warmth there. He pulled back his hand and saw blood.
Sam burst into the room. "Dean?" He hit the light switch by the door, puzzled when Dean flinched back.
"What's wrong? You look like you're afraid of me."
Reluctantly, the older Winchester forced himself to relax and hoarsely recounted his dream.
While he talked, Sam approached and carefully lifted Dean's chin, searching his neck. "There's nothing there, Dean." He reached out and ran his fingers over unmarred skin.
"Yeah, well, there was." He held up his hand, showing Sam the red smears decorating his fingers.
Sam stared in disbelief at his brother's hand. "What the hell's going on?" he asked. "We haven't been on a job in weeks so it doesn't seem it would be anything recent."
Dean shuddered. "Shit, Sam, I don't having a freakin' clue. But it looks like I'M our next case. And I have a feeling we better fix this fast."
