Chapter 5:

Miles POV:

"Are you serious right now?" Sarah was yelling at me.

"Of course, I'm serious. What's the big deal? Why are you making an issue out of this?"

"Making an issue?" Sarah scoffed at me, "You haven't even been back in town a week, and you suddenly decide to become a singing duo with your ex-girlfriend! You didn't even talk to me first!"

"I didn't think you'd care! You always said that you loved Alya's music, I thought you would be excited for me!" We were both yelling now.

"I only said that because I knew how much YOU loved her music! I've had to compete with that since we started dating, and now you're saying that you're going to be working with her every day!"

"You haven't even met her! How the hell have you had to compete with her?"

Sarah rolled her eyes, "You would always bring it up whenever she produced a new song, or announced a new tour, all excited and everything! But whenever I told you about a new role I landed, it was always a half-hearted congratulations!"

"That's ridiculous! She's my friend, of course I was happy when her career went well! And I have always supported you with your acting!"

"Your friend? You hadn't seen her for 5 years! No, you were still in love with her and I was too blind to see it!" She was close to tears now.

"That's completely insane! We broke up years ago, of course I'm not still in love with her!"

"Then why hell were you so quick to jump on this chance to sing with her, huh? Why throw away everything you've worked for, to become partners with a woman whose been blackballed from the industry? It sure as hell ain't charity! So, try tell me again that you are not in love with her!" She screamed at me.

"Sarah, I swear to you, I'm not in love with Alya! Please, you have to believe me!"

Sarah sighed and turned away from me, "Fine. But I'm going to a hotel for a few days. I need to think" she spoke before slamming the door.

I sighed and sunk down onto the couch in the living room. How the hell did this happen? One minute I was excitedly telling Sarah about the idea to become partners with Alya, and the next she was yelling at me. I honestly thought that she would be happy. Had I seriously read our relationship so wrong? God, I needed to get out of my head.

Picking up my phone, I quickly shot off a text to the one person I knew would help take my mind off everything, asking to meet at the bar in an hour. The response came quickly, and I smiled knowing this was exactly what I needed.

Alya POV:

"B, are you sure this partnership is a good idea? I mean it's been a really long time since we've worked together, and you saw what happened at the bar the other night!"

Since agreeing to this partnership a few hours ago, I'd been freaking out. I was currently pacing around Bianca's office, trying to come up with reasons why we shouldn't do this.

"Alya, you need to chill. Of course, this is a good idea! The two of you have always worked well together. In fact, you were both always better when you were supporting and helping each other." Bianca did make a good point. "And I know it's been a long time, but this is going to be great for both of your careers. Besides, it's like riding a bike! You'll find your rhythm in no time!"

I sighed. I knew Bianca was right, but after our moment earlier today, I was worried about what would happen when Miles and I actually started working together. My emotions were always heightened so much more when we were singing or working on our music together, and I can already feel myself falling for him again! This could be a very bad idea; I mean he has a girlfriend! But what choice do I have?

"Okay, fine! I'm in. But if this blows up badly, I'm blaming you." I said pointing my finger at Bianca, who just shrugged and smirked at me.

"Perfect! I'll get the paperwork sorted and have it to you by tomorrow! Now if you'll excuse me Alya, I do have other clients to work with! I'll catch you tomorrow, bye!" She spoke whilst shooing me out the door.

Miles POV:

I sat at the bar nursing my beer thinking about the situation I got myself into. Sarah was mad at me for partnering with Alya, but Bianca thought it would be good for my image. Alya was one of the most important people in my life, despite not seeing her for years, and I really wanted to work with her again. But then there was the matter of the small moment that we got caught in just hours before. I mean, I can't like Alya like that again, can I? I'm happy with Sarah, but honestly if Bianca hadn't of barged in, then there's a small chance that I may have actually kissed Alya.

"Shit." I muttered to myself, "I am completely screwed."

"Well then it's a good thing I'm here to help you." I jumped at the sound of Jax's voice, before breaking out into a smile and giving him a hug.

"It's good to see you man. Thanks for coming."

He just shrugged, "It's what I do."

I laughed and ordered him a beer as he took his coat off sitting beside me, "So why is it exactly that you're completely screwed?"

I grimaced slightly before breaking into the story of my day, starting with checking on Alya and ending with the argument with Sarah, that led me to this bar. Throughout it all, Jax sat quietly, just listening and contemplating what I was saying.

"So, you went to Alya's, nearly kissed her, signed on to become her official partner, and Sarah had a go at you because she doesn't like Alya and so she left for a couple of days?"

"Ah, yeah, pretty much", I sighed, "I don't know what to do man. This change could be great for my career but I don't want to risk losing Sarah. But then spending so much time around Alya, is just messing with my head you know?"

"I get it man, I do. But this is your career we're talking about. You can't just give that up because Sarah is upset. If she really loves you, she'll support you no matter what. And about Alya, maybe spending some time away from Sarah would be good? Spend time with Alya instead and see if there's a spark? Trust me man, if you get sparks with someone who's not your girlfriend then you're not meant to be with her."

I nodded, thinking over what he had said. It was actually pretty smart. If I spent more time with Alya, I might have a chance to figure out what my feelings really were. Besides, it's not fair to Sarah if I stay with her if I have feelings for someone else.

"You're right, thanks man. It's good to have you around again. I've missed this."

"Same here. And anytime you need lady advice, I got you bro. Now, you want to stop whining like a girl and get wasted?"

Thanks for reading! I'm excited to see where this story is going and bring you some more chapters soon hopefully!
