Three days had past since the interview. Parker and Joey had been hard at work with the particle accelerator, but with them progress seemed to be moving one step forward and two steps back. Liv, Mal, and Maddie had tried to help, but Parker insisted they could do it themselves. Which is why the three girls were now on the beach not far from the makeshift lab, relaxing against the sand. However, it was clear that Mal had something on her mind.

Maddie turned towards her honorary triplet. "Everything okay, Mal?"

Mal sighed. "I just wished I knew what was going on in Auradon right now."

Liv held Mal's hand. "Don't worry, we'll get to Auradon, help your friends, find Ben, and everything will be okay."

Just then, Parker came running out of the lab, only stopping to catch his breath before shouting, "It's ready!"

Mal, Maddie, and Liv immediately got to their feet before rushing towards the makeshift lab. They opened the curtains to find Joey and Parker standing near a big, black box with a prod sticking out of it. A few feet to the right of it was a pedestal-like contraption with what looked like a key board on it.

"That's it?" Maddie asked.

Parker scoffed. "'That's it?' 'That' is a genuine particle accelerator, guaranteed to open up a wormhole and fling us to far off galaxies."

Mal slowly walked towards the contraption, wondering if it could really take her home. "So, this thing will get us to Auradon?"

"You betcha," Joey said as he patted the machine. "We already threw an apple into it and nothing happened."

"But we don't know where it went," Parker corrected. "It could be in Auradon, but it could also be anywhere else in the world."

"But we have to try," Liv said. "Maleficent has probably already taken over Auradon by now, and we need to defeat her."

Parker sighed, making clear to Liv, Maddie, and Joey that he still didn't believe in Auradon. "Fine, but their is a chance that we could end up somewhere else besides Auradon. Like Russia."

"Well, let's just start it up already and see what happens," Joey insisted.

Parker sighed, then walked up to the machine and pushed a few buttons. "Alright. Here goes nothing." The five teenagers watched as the black box started to hum, which only grew louder as the end of the prod started to faintly glow. In the blink of an eye, a white bolt of lighting came out of the prod, but instead of hitting something, it started to swirl, creating a glowing portal.

Maddie looked at the portal in disbelief. "It actually works!"

Joey walked forward. "Your passage to Auradon," he said with a grand gesture.

"So, who's going to go first?" Liv asked.

Mal stepped forward. "I'll go. I'm supposed to protect Auradon, so I should be the first one to test the portal."

"Good luck," Maddie said.

Mal nodded, then started walking towards the portal; however, before she could go through it, it started emitting a green light.

"What's going on?" Parker asked. He started fiddling with the buttons, trying to figure out what was going on, when all of a sudden, there was a evil laugh, and Maleficent appeared through the portal.

"Well, I see my daughter has company," Maleficent cackled.

Mal narrowed her eyes. "What are you doing here, mother?"

"Can't I just check up on my treacherous daughter?" Maleficent questioned innocently.

Joey stepped forward. "Well, we're onto you, Maleficent! And we... we..." He started to falter under Maleficent's glare. "You know, I've always admired your spunk."

Maddie glared back at Maleficent. "What he means to say is that we know what you did. And you won't get away with it."

Maleficent stepped towards Maddie. "You look familiar..."

Maddie just shrugged. "Well, my sister and I do look a lot like Mal."

"No, there's something more than that..." Maleficent thought for a moment. "Wait... weren't the one who dressed up and mocked me?!"

Liv moved closer to Maddie. "Actually it was-"

"No Liv. Let me handle this," Maddie whispered to Liv before turning back towards Maleficent. "Yes, I am the one who dressed up as you. And for good reason too."

Liv held Maddie's hand, as if telling her they were in this together. "You cursed an innocent baby and kidnapped her true love! And all just because you weren't invited to her christening?!"

"And you crashed Ben's coronation!" Mal added. "Not to mention that now you're taking over Auradon!"

"You are nothing more than an evil witch!" Joey yelled.

"And I highly doubt that your magic will beat my superior technology," Parker bragged.

Maleficent looked over them, as if she was examining them. "Well, I see that you have grown close to these... peasants. Almost like they're like your family."

"We are her family!" Liv objected.

Maleficent just ignored her. "Well, what would happen if one of your little family members just... disappeared." Almost instantly, she grabbed Maddie's arm and ripped her from Liv's grasp. Maddie was so shocked and surprised that she was practically helpless as Maleficent dragged her through the portal.

Liv watched in horror as her sister and the evil fairy disappeared from sight. "Maddie! No!" She ran towards the portal, jumping in as soon as she got close enough.

"Liv! Wait!" Mal followed Liv into the portal, not wanting to lose another sister.

"Wait for me!" Joey shouted as he ran towards the portal. As soon as he jumped in, green and white sparks started to come out of the portal.

"The portal's destabilizing!" Parker exclaimed. "If it shuts down, there's no way of getting back. I've gotta warn them somehow!" Just then, Val walked into the lab, providing the perfect opportunity for him. "Val, can you just watch this portal and make sure it doesn't close! I'll be back as soon as I can!" Then, Parker jumped through the portal.

Val just stood there as the portal closed, confused by what just happened.

Liv found herself on the ground, surrounded by a bunch of trees. She tried to get up, but soon felt something crash into her, followed by another person. "Get off me!" Liv shouted, fearing that Maleficent's minions had ambushed her.

"Liv?" a voice said.

Liv instantly recognized the voice. "Mal?"

"What am I? Chopped Liver?" Joey asked. The trio untangled from each other, then stood up, only to see the portal close. "Great, there goes our only way home."

"I'm pretty sure that Parker will reactivate the portal soon," Liv said. "Right now, we really have to find Maddie. Who knows what terrible things are happening to her right now?" She was really starting to get worried about her twin. Considering she was in the hands of Maleficent, there was a chance she could never see Maddie again.

Mal put her hand on Liv's shoulder. "Don't worry we will find Maddie and rescue her." Before she could say anymore, they all heard a branch snapped.

"What was that?" Joey asked, his eyes darting around franctically.

Mal automatically moved in front of Liv and Joey. "Stay behind me." She looked around the forest, glaring as she did. "Who's there?!"

As soon as she said those words, a blue clad figure jumped down from a tree and landed in front of them. "That's the question I should be asking you."

Mal automatically recognized the girl standing in front them. "Evie? It's me, Mal."

Evie just glared at them. "If you're the real Mal, then what did I say to you when you said you never had a sister?"

"You were helping me get ready for my first date with Ben" Mal answered. "I said that I never had a sister, and then you said 'Well now you do.'"

The angered look on Evie's face turned into a huge grin. "Mal!" She rushed to Mal and embraced her. "Where were you?! We looked everywhere for you!"

Mal quickly returned the hug. "It's a long story, but I'll explain later." Mal turned to Liv and Joey. "These are my friends Liv and Joey. They took me in for the past few days."

Evie scrunched her nose in confusion. "Few days? Mal, you've been gone for two weeks."

Phew! Finally, we've reached Auradon, but not without a casuality. Don't worry, Maddie is not going to be held hostage forever. Anyway, because of the coronavirus, all of my classes have been moved online. This means that I might have a little more time for writing after this, but I'm not making any promises.
