At night, the Spirit Realm was peaceful, not unlike the day if Asami was being honest. But night held it's own special charm. There were sounds she couldn't identify, but they weren't threatening. There were colors she had never seen before stretched out across the sky and celestial bodies that weren't visible at home. Countless Spirits and other creatures wandered by, each more intriguing than the last. It was a place she could get used to, not call home exactly, the technology was lacking, but a place she wouldn't mind visiting again if the opportunity arose.

And while dating the Avatar, who happened to be sleeping beside her, chances were highly likely.

Absentmindedly, she ran her fingers gently through Korra's hair. She was beautiful awake and when she slept. Her hair was kept down, she had changed into a simple white tank top and was resting on her side. Asami still felt like she was in a surreal moment, destined to wake and it not be real. She had dreamed about dating Korra for years now. And here they were, vacationing together in the Spirit Realm. She watched Korra sleep, combing her hair with her fingers. The slow rise and fall of her chest, the subtle soft stickiness of her skin from sweat, her lips parted just so, Asami smiled. This was peaceful.

Suddenly, Korra arched her back, as if in tremendous pain. She gritted her teeth and seized, her whole body stiffened in an instance. Asami grew wide-eyed and bolted upright, a panicked look on her face. She watched Korra for just a few seconds more as she writhed on the blanket. A nightmare. It had to be. They had been so frequent since her run-in with Zaheer and now with the Kuvira attack so fresh, of course she was having one. Tears in her eyes, she gathered Korra into her arms and held her tight.

If felt like forever, trying to get Korra to calm down. This was more like a panic attack than a nightmare and that worried Asami even more. The Avatar mumbled a string of incoherent words, Asami desperately tried to play connect the dots, to see if she could figure out what was going on in her mind. She shushed her, rocked her gently, placed her forehead to hers. Anything and everything she could think of to try and get her to snap out of it. She was turning pale and sweating more and more. If it didn't stop soon, Asami decided she would have to make a mad dash to the nearest spirit portal.

With great relief, however, it did ease. Korra's breathing started to return to normal. Her skin gained more color and she relaxed in Asami's arms. Relief washed over Asami and she smiled, kissing Korra on the forehead. Moments later, her eyes fluttered open and she looked to Asami.

"Where are we?" She whispered, holding onto Asami's hand for dear life. She squeezed it back.

"Spirit Realm. On vacation, remember?"

She nodded, relaxing more. "Are we safe?"

Asami pulled her closer and nodded, "We couldn't be in a safer spot. Just rest, I'm here."

"You don't know how long I've waited to hear those words."

Asami's heart gave a pronounced flutter in her chest, causing her to blush and smile shyly. It wasn't just night in the Spirit Realm that was taking her breath away.
