Prompt from Jeremey_Jorcoat: Could you do One where they're all on a date night, but they end up having to solve a mystery, and Scooby figures out who it is. Then they finish their date night?

There's no mystery, but hopefully, it will be enough.

….

The girls watched in amusement as the boys desperately tried to hide the fact that they were tapping their feet along to the music, the pair of them humming.

Their plan was coming along perfectly.

"Do you two want to dance?" Daphne asked, smirking when the pair stopped and straightened up, both of them avoiding eye contact at all times.

Velma and Daphne glanced at each other, before moving to stand in front of them, both holding out their hands.

Freddie and Shaggy just stared at the out-stretched hands for a moment, both of them ignoring how Scooby almost seemed to be laughing at them, curled up on the floor.

When there continued to be no reaction, the two girls considered withdrawing their hands and forgetting about the whole thing. Before they could however, the boys finally moved, curling their fingers around the girls'.

Freddie took Velma's and Shaggy took Daphne's, their eyes widening as the girls hauled them to their feet, dragging them to the middle of the dancefloor.

It was no surprise when Shaggy nearly tripped over his own feet.

The dance floor was almost completely full, leaving the two couples to press up against one another, chest to chest.

After the fifteenth time of Shaggy stepping on Daphne's feet, the girls decided this date needed to go in another direction.

"Come on." Velma led the way, her fingers around Freddie's as they headed out to the centre of Coolsville, where a large tree stood.

Once there, the girls pulled the boys closer again.

"This is better." Daphne gave Shaggy a reassuring smile, "Ready?"

At his nervous nod, the pair started to count and move.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

One, two, three and spin.

With a little more space to work in, the boys picked up on the steps pretty quickly.

"Does anyone remember our Prom?" Freddie suddenly spoke up, breaking the peaceful silence, "And how awkward it was?"

"Painfully." Velma winced, "Thank god the Headmaster's attempt to get more money for the school gave us an excuse to get out of there."

The others nodded in agreement, as Freddie leant over to kiss Velma on the forehead, at the same time as Daphne pulled Shaggy in for a kiss on the lips.

They'd stopped properly dancing, slowing down to a steady sway, to a tuneless song. This continued for a few moments, until they heard a branch cracking, prompting Shaggy and Scooby to yelp in surprise, the skinny man leaping into Daphne's arms as Scooby went to hide behind Freddie and Velma.

"Let's get home." Freddie chuckled, "I really don't feel like solving any mysteries tonight.

"Seconded!" Shaggy turned pleading eyes to the girls, who rolled their eyes fondly.

"Alright, let's go home."
