Author's Note: So, I just watched the newly released F/GO Opening for Lostbelt 6 & 7. I gotta say that it's sad that the game is ending but we're still only halfway there before it ends, so it would be a very long journey for all of us.

In any case, I was watching it and my brain said, "Hey, how about instead of sitting on your ass all day, why not focus on making a new chapter."

And so I did.

Instead of bothering you with a lengthy one, let's just move on to the chapter, shall we?

Disclaimer: I don't know Fate/Grand Order nor its related franchise. I just own the OC. Thank you.

An Enigmatic Conversation

"Can you quickly whip up breakfast for me, Emiya? I don't want to bother you with such a request but I have a terrible morning and I want to make myself as awake as possible." John pleaded as he tries to lessen the migraine by laying his head on the table.

After that meaningful conversation with Medusa, John immediately went back to work. Not only did this help him in regaining his focus, but he also used this as a way to internalize the relationship that both he and Medusa have with one another. Many people had called him naïve due to his loneliness but it doesn't mean that he is dense. In fact, he's more aware of the surrounding and the people on it.

Being a lonely person can do that to a person.

In any case, John is aware of the surrounding that he's in but it doesn't mean that he understands it. Self-rationalizing their actions to fit one's worldview is quite useless. Not unless you know the person that you're observing like he mistakenly did.

In any case, back to the topic at hand. Medusa is quite… a character, in his view. Not only was she bold, assertive, graceful… Okay, that's just his brain doing a fart. Regardless, Medusa is definitely one of his friends that he could count on his growing list of friends.

Wow, to think that a few months back he was considered to be the absolute loner and now he's friends with historical legends. His life did really take a turn.

As John was busy internalizing his relationship with Medusa, he didn't realize that it was already past midnight and he was only able to sleep a few hours in, causing his current predicament.

"No worries, John. In fact, you have an impeccable sense of timing because I was just about to finish up my cooking." Emiya replied as looked at the clock, then looked back at John with an eyebrow raised.

"What did happen for you to groan like a worm seizing up?" Emiya dryly asked, causing John to shoot him with an unimpressed glare.

"I've been overthinking about stuff that I probably shouldn't. It's inconsequential at best, so don't bother prying me for answers." John answered as he gratefully took a sip of the orange juice that Emiya provided him.

"Oh? And what makes you think that I wouldn't be able to pry you for answers if you're still busy thinking about whatever you're thinking about?" Emiya's smirk became a smug smile when he heard of John's groan.

"Fine… I guess I'll make you privy of my insignificant thoughts. Freaking bastard…" John muttered the last words but it obviously didn't work judging by one of Emiya's eyebrows raising up.

And so it went, John went to discuss his relationship with the Servants that he had begun to call as friends while Emiya listened, providing comments that either amuses him or irritates John. Either way, it was a pleasant moment for both of them.

With his migraine gone and being well-fed by Emiya's god-like cooking skills, John was ready to go back to work but not before hearing the door opening behind. Lo and behold, it was Robin Hood, who currently has a bottle of wine on his hands.

"You know that it's too early to drink, right?" John questioned as Robin took a seat beside him.

"Pah! I'm a Servant, John. Time doesn't matter to me." Robin scoffed as he poured the wine towards John's glass.

"But it does affect me if I drink this wine since you know, I'm a normal human being?" John snarked as he gave the wine a sip, grimacing at the taste.

"You shouldn't worry about that, John. Besides, it's been a while since our last meeting so I took the chance for us to become inebriated once more." Robin dismissed while he cheerfully chugged down the wine in go, letting out a satisfied sigh.

"For a huntsman of your calibre, to let out such a belch is quite unfitting of you." Emiya dryly commented as Robin's satisfied face turned into a glare.

"And for such a distinguished bowman, you look like a nanny in that dress." Robin immediately shot back, causing Emiya's grin to turn into a condescending smirk.

"Oh, want to see how much of a 'nanny' I am while I beat your ass to the ground?" Emiya snarked, summoning Kanshou and Bakuya.

"Hmph, you may wish to beg for mercy once I'm done with you," Robin replied, summoning his Yew Bow and causing an intense standoff between the two.

Before the two could trade blows with one another, in the Diner no less, John coughed, causing them both to look towards him. "Can you please not do this in the Diner? It's too early for this and I really want to get started on my job." John pleaded.

The two of them started until Emiya sighed and dismissed his twin swords, with Robin doing the same.

"Sorry about that, John. I guess that Time does do something after all." Robin sheepishly replied.

"No, it's not. It's the wine that you chugged that is causing that." John answered before standing up. "In any case, thanks for the food, Emiya. It was, as always, spectacular to eat." And with that, John left the premise, leaving Emiya and Robin alone.

"… I have a question if you don't mind me asking." Robin inquired, refilling the glass with wine.

"And what is that, Robin?" Emiya replied, with a neutral expression on his face.

"How did the two of you met? From what I've seen, it seems that you know him longer than I have." Robin questioned to which Emiya gave a long hum before looking at where John was at.

"Hmm?" Emiya looked at the trolley, with its numerous cleaning products before looking at the man that eerily looks like him when he was younger. If Emiya didn't know better, he would say that it was himself that he was looking at but thankfully, there are some noticeable difference.

For one, the man's build is quite lean unlike his younger counterpart, which tells him that this person doesn't exercise quite often and would rather stay indoor than do activities outdoors. Second, the way his eyes tend to roam around, searching and looking for something means that he's quite a paranoid person, with the way he darts around the surrounding. Finally, the man's eyes remind him of himself; Broken and with the way the man acts, it's almost as if he's looking at a recently created Homunculus and even they have more freedom of expression, unlike the man that is in front of him.

As if noticing him, the man took on a guarded smile and begun to scratch his head. "Sorry about that, I'm just looking around for something." Shaking his head, he continued, "In any case, welcome to Chaldea. My name's John Steward, the only remaining Janitor of Chaldea."

"The only remaining Janitor of Chaldea, huh? What an interesting title to have." Emiya commented as he gripped the man's hand.

"That's what happens when you blow up almost every single personnel in Chaldea." John grimaced as he remembered the incident. It still galls him that the only thing that saved him was because of his irrelevance.

"Can't say that I relate to what you experience," Emiya said, neutral in his tone.

"Hmm…" Giving an unimpressed sound, John returned back to the trolley. "Anyways, I'm sorry to have taken your time. Take care." But before he could leave, Emiya said, "By the way, you haven't asked for my name."

Stiffening, John slowly turned around before giving him a shaky smile. "Then, can I ask what's your name?"

Giving a long hum, he shrugged before answering "The name's Archer. Take that as you will."

"Thanks for that, Archer. I need to go." John replied before bolting away from him. Emiya let out an amused huff before continuing on his exploration of Chaldea.

"Let's just say that it was an enigmatic first meeting for both of us."
