My Mermaid

In their own private corner of the beach, Blake and Tori leaned against each other on the warm sand as the sherbet sunset consumed the once clear blue sky. It was their final day together before Blake started training for his first pro race. Tori couldn't be happier for him, but he could tell she didn't want him to leave. Her eyes would get a little misty whenever his trip was brought up and she avoided talking about it like the plague.

"Tori?" Blake asked softly, lifting his head off hers as he interlocked their fingers tenderly. "There's something I gotta ask you."

Tori raised her head off his shoulder and gave him a small smile. "What's up?" She answered playfully with equal softness.

"You gotta tell me the truth: how do you feel 'bout me going pro?" Blake asked with slight hesitation in his voice.

Her eyes widened for a moment before revealing a new pain she kept hidden since he told her the news. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to miss you." Tori answered in a whisper.

Blake brought her hand up and gave it a gentle kiss. "You have no idea how much I'm gonna miss you." He replied adoringly.

"I can't stop you from chasing your dreams and I'm not gonna let you throw away your chance because of me." Tori continued on as she hoped the sunset hid the fact she was blushing up a storm.

They shared a comfortable silence together. The waves gently rolling up and down the shoreline, the seagulls singing above, and the smell of the sea made the entire moment magical. Like a scene straight out of a fairytale.

"Tori." Blake finally said after a few moments, using his free hand to cup her cheek. The warmth sent chills down her spine as butterflies began to come alive in her stomach.

They gazed into each other's eyes and thought about everything they went through since they met in Storm Chargers. All the battles they fought and their mutual attraction that grew into something neither of them had the words to describe. But it was clear to both of them that they weren't just friends. Tori covered his hand cupping her cheek with her own and smiled softly. Blake smiled back and before they realized it they were both leaning in until the distance between them became nonexistent. Blake's warm lips met Tori's as they shared their first kiss. Nothing in the world mattered at that moment. The euphoria of the kiss wiped away all the worried thoughts that plagued Tori's mind. Blake could feel his heart racing in his chest as their kiss deepened gradually. When they finally parted, they opened their eyes and leaned their foreheads together lovingly.

"You have no idea how long I've been wanting to do that." Blake said with a euphoric sigh. Tori giggled and rubbed her nose against his.

She gave him a short kiss on the lips before drawing back and looking at him with bliss. "So. What're you gonna do if some girl hits on you at the track?"

"I'll tell her I have a Mermaid waiting for me back home: you." Blake replied simply with a grin. He brought her close and hugged her tenderly.

As the first stars started to appear in the sky, Tori and Blake leaned against each other once more as they took in the beauty of the beach so they could remember this moment forever.
