Wake Up.
In the midst of a dream, one can become distracted. It's easy to get lost in the twisty, murky depths of another reality imagined. One can wander for hours, sometimes even days, in the worlds one sees in the dreamland. Sometimes these dreams are of what was not to be, of wishes and longings lost to time. Sometimes the dreams are of what's to come, visions and restless urgings to take action. The dreams almost never seem real. No consequences, no lasting pain. True, fear can be felt, and love and sadness, but it never lasts. You're all just Players playing The Game and Dreamers dreaming your Dreams.
But what if it could last? What if there's something lingering just around the corner, ready to grab hold of lost explorers and make it all so much more real? What if you're being sheltered, protected by something you can't see or feel?
There are no what-ifs, Player. It's there. Waiting, watching. You may think this is all pretend, all another dream, but what is a dream? Whoever said dreams were just dreams? You think I'm the villain, but what do you know? You've never peered beyond your own small world. The only Thing Protecting you is talking to you now, and I'm telling you, be careful where you wander. There is but a thin veil keeping you from your untimely end, and you tread closer to it than you know. You dream of light and dark, cold and warmth, fear and safety, but you have so little knowledge of what's really there. Stop. Step back. Look a little closer. Clear the fog from your tired mind.
Look beyond the edges of the dream. What do you see, Player? Anything? ...Anything at all? Nothing? You aren't the first. There are so few who really live, who really see what's out there. And it can be frightening. Those dark, reaching tendrils. The watching eyes. Yes, you are young and free, but only because Something holds It back. Be careful. Even now, you are wandering closer to It, coming almost within reach. It's time to Wake Up, Player. Time to open your eyes.
Wake up.
Wake up.
Before it's too late.
