As the story goes on, I can stop using the transcripts to write the story, and more of just glancing at the ley points in the episode and working around it Yay!

I will say that while Ironwood has met Ruby, she doesn't know who she is, which explains his reaction later on in this chapter, as there were a few more pressing matters than meeting the escorts of 2 ailens at the time of their meeting.

I own nothing feel free to read and review.

Once Sun and Neptune parted ways from the rest of the party, Weiss pivoted to face Ruby with a glare,

"What's this about ONI being a potential threat now?!"

"When I told you everything we had no-idea ONI could be involved with us again, in our lifetimes, but it was mainly just a scare tactic, yes they would kill those who leaked secrets and those they leaked them to, but I'm too valuable an asset to do that."

"Are you certain?"

"Please, I'm a Spartan, Hyper-lethal, with a class 4 combat skin when their current suits of MJOLNIR are class 2. They won't try to kill me, and I am skilled enough to keep you guys alive should they ever see you as potential bargaining chips, at least until I train you enough to handle yourselves against other Spartans."

"Right…" Weiss looked down to the ground, her expression much the same, but a little calmer, "We should get cleaned up, anyhow."

"Yeah, I believe Mom wanted to talk to me about something to…" Ruby said, "Feels weird to say that, been almost 15 years… for me anyway."

"Yeah, no kidding," Yang replied, "Weird for me too."

They all went back to their dorms to get changed, and Ruby went down to the Infirmary.

"You wanted to see me, Mom?"

She said as she reached Summer's bed,

"Yeah, I did… you're wearing the boy's uniform?"

"Yeah, didn't quite have something in my size, and I prefer a suit to a dress, so they gave me the men's uniform."

"Ok then. Well, I wanted to talk to you about something, so you might want to grab a chair."

The Spartan did so, having a seat and facing her mother, sitting in a comfortable slouch that wasn't displaying the fact that she was disinterested, but rather getting ready for a long sitting.

"Now I don't know if Ozpin has talked to you about this, but in case he hasn't, we have a rare trait that help us fight against the Grimm."

"Ok," Ruby nodded, "Ozpin doesn't share anything but, you know that."

"Right… well, we are known as Silver-eyed Warriors, and have the ability to either petrify or outright kill any grim we use them on."

"So, what you're saying is that we have the ability to glare Grim to death."

"Well, essentially yeah… but it does have a few limits."

"As does everything."

"We can only use it on Grimm, and depending on how much power goes into it, depends on how much damage will be inflicted, a small amount may be able to kill some weak Grimm like Apathy, but it will take a lot to fully petrify big Grimm like Goliaths, Nevermores, or Deathstalkers."

"And how do we use it."

"That's the thing, given you're opinion on Magic, I'm sure you are not going to like this…"

"Oh..?"

"It works by focusing on the desire to protect all things you would see as good, friends, family, after they are initially unlocked, you can tap into them if you remember the positive reasons why you want to protect those close to you."

"..."

"I don't know the reason behind it, as we are pretty sure that Salem has been hunting or hiring bounty hunters and bandits to hunt Silver-eyed Warriors."

"I see… well, I know what I would like to ask Jinn if we get the chance."

"Why did I not think of that..?" Summer muttered to herself,

"So what you're saying is that our Silver-eye powers are linked to being able to recall happy memories with those I deem close?"

"Yes, but you have to be careful you don't fall into the negative, otherwise any hope you had will be gone and just aggravate the Grimm."

"It kind of makes sense, in that case, use positivity to banish the creatures that feed on negativity, I can see that."

"You don't think it's something else?"

"Considering how little we actually know about the nature of Grimm, no, it has been proven that they are for some reason drawn towards negative emotions, so it makes sense that positivity would be a weakness for them, I'm not closed to new ideas and concepts, just believe that things shouldn't be explained away with, 'it's magic'."

"Right, well, that makes my life a lot easier, you probably haven't unlocked them yet, so we can't go out an active practice, they only work on Grimm so it is a trial-by-fire thing, but try and make a state you can easily tap into, where you can recall those happy points, and the desire to protect life and those close to you."

"Ok, so meditate on what makes me want to protect the living, got yah." The Spartan nodded, "So how do I go about activating them?"

Summer scratched the back of her head, "I'm not so sure about that part." She admitted, "For me, it happened when I was under a period of intense stress, Qrow was nearly killed during a mission, they activated, and we were able to get to him in time, it may be the same for you, it may be something completely different."

"So, we'll have to wait and see then."

"Yeah, I do think you have to be around Grimm for them to activate though, so you won't have unlocked them for anything you have experienced as a Spartan."

"Figured as much,"

Just then the room shook as a low rumbling could be heard.

"What is that?" The older huntress asked as Ruby went to the far window.

"It appears the General is making a statement," Ruby replied smarmily, "I count at least 3 battleships, as well as several dozen dropships, bullheads, and mantras."

"Of course… James has to show off his might."

"I could take em."

Summer shook her head, "Either you are overconfident beyond belief, or you continue to surprise me."

"This company is nothing compared to what I've dealt with as a headhunter, not to mention the lack of encryption that they will undoubtedly have compared to Covenant and Insurrectionist schemes."

"Really?"

"Ok I'm no hacker, but I can do 32,000-bit encryption keys no bother, and that's not counting for what upgrades I would have been given with this. I'd say Atlas would probably be working on 1024-bit at most.

"I see…"

"So yeah, no biggie, but anyways, I should probably get going, thanks for the stuff on Silver eyes, I'll fit it into my regime."

"Alright, Good luck with it then." The Spartan waved as she left the infirmary, leaving Summer to sigh as she shook her head, "Just goes to show, being away from your family for the majority of your life, doesn't change who you are."

Team RWBY was sitting in the library after Yang had dragged all of them down to play The World of Remnant, a strategy-based board game that once Ruby got the just of, was plotting evil schemes to thwart the others left and right, while Weiss was still struggling with the concept, not having played many board games before.

"Ok, so you are playing Vacuo, so all Vacuo cards get a bonus," Yang explained to her, taking the opportunity to rearrange her hand, "Oh here, if you use this, you can destroy my troops and take them into you own hand, and them if you play this card, you can immediately re-play them and attack someone else.

"And that means..?"

"You could win in 3 turns," Ruby told the Heiress, who began to grin manically,

"Yes! You will fear the might of my armies who will conquer all in their path!"

"Trap card!" Ruby interjected, moving the figurines on the board about a bit, "Your army has been obliterated."

"Why..?" She began to sob,

"You need to learn to strategize." Was all their leader said, a smirk on her face,

"Hey guys what's up?" Jaune asked, having come to the table, "Mind if I join?"

"Sorry Jaune, we already have 4 people." Yang apologies to the young knight,

"Well, how about the next game?"

"I think we're gonna head in after this game actually," Weiss said, It will probably last until quite late if Ruby has any say in the matter."

"Are you accusing me of dragging things out when I know I'm winning?" She sarcastically demanded,

"No, just that there are clear ways you could win and you choose to ignore them each time they present themselves.

"Says the one who completely ignored the opportunity for a board wipe not 5 turns ago,"

"It's my first time ok!"

"It's mine too." Ruby pointed out.

"Oh shut up you dolt."

"Hey, guys!" Sun called as he and Neptune approached the groups, "What's going on?"

"Playing a board game, and winning," Ruby told them, "And you can stop before you even try Neptune, I'm not going on a date with you."

"Not even gonna give me a chance?" The womanizer asked, "And I thought libraries were for reading."

"Thank you!" Ren called out, waking up Nora from a nap.

"Yeah, well, we're being quiet enough."

"I didn't take you for the board game type Blake," Sun mentioned to the hiding Faunus, who had been daydreaming,

"Hmm? Oh… well, I think I might head in now anyway, I'm getting a little tired." She set down her hand and walked off.

"Soo… does that mean I can play..?" Jaune asked, sliding next to Blake's newly vacated seat.

"Sure, why not."

"..."

Ozpin had just finished bringing Ironwood up to speed on the truth about Salem and Ruby's proposed plan.

"Why did you keep this from us?" He asked the man out of time, "I thought you trusted us."

"I do, which is why Summer convinced me to tell you, I withheld it before because I have tried telling people about the truth before, and it always lead to either them defecting to Salem, or their panic getting themselves killed or I killed. I didn't have a definitive plan to beat Salem before now, but with the introduction of the UNSC and their technology, we may have a chance."

"And this... Ruby, she is also from the UNSC?"

"Yes, due to some rather bizarre circumstances, she was transported off-world and became a Spartan much like the Master Chief, and after being presumed dead, found her way back, she asked me for a new life, so I gave her one, the one she should have had here, on Remnant."

"I see… well, that explains how she came up with the plan, though why you didn't just give her her license and new documents when she arrived is another matter."

"Yes, well, I needed another applicant for this year, and from what she told me, she could use the opportunity to rediscover herself and how to properly socialize with others. Now a question I have for you, is why there is a small fleet on my doorstep."

"I think we both know the answer to that, even more so with what you have said,"

The headmaster of Beacon sighed, "While Salem is a definite threat, we cannot just broadcast that to the planet, we are at a time of peace, this display will just raise alarm."

"But if what Qrow said-"

"If what Qrow said is true, we can handle it accordingly, but it doesn't require an entire army to hunt down a few suspicious characters."

"What will you do if it comes to it then?"

"The same thing I always have, train the best huntsmen and huntresses I can, The Vault is secure, and the Maiden is safe, I even have a few candidates for an attempted transfer."

"Ruby?"

"Not quite, she has confirmed she doesn't trust me, she is on our side, but is willing to go rogue, if she thinks it has the best for humanity in mind."

"I see… well, I have 1 question for you Oz, do you think these kids can fight the war that is coming?"

"I hope they don't have to James, but there are plenty who will rise to the challenge."

The General left Ozpin's office, leaving him alone to think on it, sighing as he did so.

"No, we're not talking about this anymore!" Yang protested as they arrived at their dorm,

"You're just mad that vomit boy won." Ruby teased,

"Oh, and it's not like you didn't help!"

"You were helping Weiss, fair is fair."

"Hey, Blake is everything alright?" Weiss asked the Faunus, who was moping on her bed,

"Yeah, I'm fine… I mean, I don't know."

"What's up, kitten?" Yang asked pulling up a chair and sitting down like a stereotypical movie interrogator.

She sighed, "I know we caught Torchwick, but I can't get what he said out of my head, their little 'business venture,' I can't help but think there's more to it than that."

"Well, If I learned anything out in the field, it's good to trust your instincts in situations like this," Ruby told the group, "We could look into it if we wanted."

"As students? Isn't it illegal?" Weiss protested,

"You're talking to someone who was part of a program which violated just about every law in the book, not to mention how many times I've violated the Geneva Convention."

"The wah?" Yang asked, mirroring all of her teammates' thoughts."

"It is a convention which decrees all the practices that are too brutal or inhumane for war."

"Like what exactly? I thought the war was pretty much lawless."

"Well, there's a knife that creates a would that until biofoam was invented, needed a team of surgeons just to close, a shotgun that will blow any part that it is shot at clean off, and Chemical warfare, just to name a few."

"Chemical warfare?"

"Anything from Nuclear bombs for the radiation, to Nerv gasses, and even things such as mustard gas."

"And what's so bad about mustard gas?" Yang asked, confused by the unassuming name.

"Oh, just chemical burns to the skin and lungs, blindness, asphyxiation, and in the case of Nerv gasses, paralysis, which is sometimes permanent."

"What?! When were those used?!" Weiss asked appalled.

"World War 1 mainly, though also in part of WWII, and various terrorist attacks."

"You have had 2 world wars?"

"Yup, Earth has a bloody history, the first occurred because of high political tensions boiling over after an assassination of a country in one of the major continent's ruler, and the second, because a fascist ruler of another country, decided to take his hate out on 1 religion and try to exterminate them all."

"Jeez, no wonder you have such a big military."

"Yeah, now you can see why I'm not too surprised by how Faunus have been treated, it's not right, but not surprising." She admitted, "But back in topic, it's not like we haven't done this sort of stuff before already."

"Fine, but if we get in trouble, I'm not going to side with you."

"I totally get that."
