Bolt From the Blue

There, you were there

You were there in your armor

Stare, saw the ride in your eyes

And I was honored

Sky, in the sky

In the sky I was falling

Scared, I was scared

I was scared and then you caught me

"Robin...what is this?" Bubbles had asked over the base of her brunette friend Toyota speakers. She quietly sat in the passenger seat before the song blared through speakers, absentmindedly nodding along to whatever song had the chance of playing from Robin's shuffled playlist. Most of the songs she knew. Luckily for the blonde, Robin and her had similar music taste.

Robin glanced at her from out the corner of her eye and then switched back to focusing on the busy road in front of them. They were going to pick up Miguel from the airport. "This is Meg Myers." She smiled and began to nod along as well. "Her song, 'A Bolt From the Blue'. It's nice right?"

"It's...okay."

Robin's brows raised slightly.

And baby

I just wanna be with you

Baby

I need to know your love is true

Baby

I just wanna be with you

Baby

You hit me like a bolt from the blue

"So my music is okay now?" Robin balked. She fell back slightly in her seat and feigned a hurt expression. Well as far as she could go considering she was short and could only go back so far if she wanted to reach the breaks and not kill anyone. She scoffed, ridiculously. "So I'm garbage on the aux now, is that what you're saying?"

Bubbles chortled, as her gaze fell ahead of her. The window beside her was down and her golden tresses blew carelessly around her head. "I didn't say that…" she giggled softly, her vision veering right, taking in the cities streets. For some reason, the color blue oddly kept appearing.

Blue shirts.

Blue cars.

Blue billboards.

Blue hair.

Is that...is that a blue dog?!

The back of Bubbles head hit the headrest of her seat with a thump. It wasn't enough that it was the color blue. It was more so that it was his blue. A blue as deep as the ocean. Bubbles slumped further into the butterscotch leather.

It was as if everyone in the world was saying, "Okay Townsville, let's keep Friday night fresh inside Bubbles Utonium mind...And go!" And then to top it all off, Robin was playing this god forsaken–extremely catchy–song that was starting to remind her of herself and this immensely irritating boy that she couldn't get out of her head since last week.

Shy, you were shy

You were shy in the water

Cry, I was crying so much

We fell in further

Air, in the air

In the air we touched lightning

Quiet, so quiet

I could only hear your heartbeat

If Bubbles could beat her head against the dashboard without Robin possibly having a panic attack and skidding off the road, she would be doing just that right now.

Damn him.

Damn me.

Damn that day.

Damn that room.

And damn this freaking song!

"Hmm, so my aux skills are that bad. Wow." Bubbles had almost forgot what they were talking about. She blinked blankly at the brunette beside her, her mind scattering to place exactly where she was at the moment.

Not Friday night.

Not in his room.

It's Monday.

And I'm in Robin's car going to pick up Miguel from the airport. Yeah.

Bubbles took a well needed breath and shook her head. "No…" she spoke softly. "Your music taste is fine, Rob. The song is cool. I like the song. Real pretty song." She silently hoped she sounded as believable as she did in her head. Which was almost never the case.

Robin's fingers danced along the steering wheel. Bubbles swallowed. The brunette's sapphire eyes that were almost as bright as her own bored into her, reading her. Bubbles felt naked. Bubbles felt anxious. Bubbles felt tingly…

Because that was exactly how he had looked at her before–

"Is it because this song reminds you of something or maybe a certain...someone?" Robin's query made her heart skip a beat. It was as if a glass window had shattered inside her head, leaving her open and easy to access. Damn Robin!

And baby

I just wanna be with you

Baby

I need to know your love is true

Baby

I just wanna be with you

Baby

You hit me like a bolt from the blue

The car had came to a stop. Bubbles spared a glance ahead and noticed the red light. It wasn't blue but it was just as worse because now she had to face Robin's intense stare that could rival Blossom's. Bubbles heart raced inside her rib cage. The thing felt like it was going burst out and call it day any second now.

Robin reached to turn down the volume. Although she didn't have to, she knew Bubbles would still able to hear her just fine even with the volume being turned all the way up.

"That makes thirty seconds and you still haven't answered my question, Bubbles." Robin said leaning back idly in her chair. Her eyes were half lidded, lips set in a straight line, giving the blonde the dullest of looks.

Bubbles on the other hand was a mess. "That's not it!" She defended fervently. Her hands were clenched tightly in her lap. "I was just daydreaming…you know how much of a scatterbrain I am." Ha ha HA!

Robin's lips poked out. She nodded slowly as her eyes shifted away for a moment. "You know...Friday night, at the party," FUCK FRIDAY NIGHT! "You disappeared for awhile." Robin recalled slowly, her foot tapping along to the beat of the song. "You and Boomer, were gone for awhile actually." She cocked a brown brow. "You were only going to leave your phone in his room to charge, is what you told me…"

Bubbles pursed her lips. Oh kill me now.

Scared, I was scared

And I was falling

Scared, I was scared

And then you caught me

You–ooh

You–ooh

You–ooh

You–ooh

The two girls were entrapped in a stare off. Robin gaze was hard and unwavering. Whilst Bubbles was fleeting and shifty. It wasn't until a horn that blared from behind them did Bubbles finally cave. Her head hit the dashboard and she released a heavy dejected sigh.

"Oh, screw you Robin…"

Robin smirked broadly and pressed on the gas. One point for Robin and a big fat zero for Bubbles.

"Oh, Bubbles, you naughty naughty girl…"

Bubbles shot up like a light and twisted all the way in her chair–even with her seatbelt tightly fastened. "It wasn't even like that!" She vehemently denied, eyes bright and screaming her innocence. "We just...I just…"

Robin's smile was as wide and bright as the sun itself. "You just what?..." she eagerly pressed on.

Bubbles slumped backwards. Her lips quivered in a pout. "Shut up…"

Robin's jaw fell open and her eyes bugged out of their sockets. If it wasn't for her not wanting to crash and potentially kill anyone, she would've definitely been gawking openly at the blonde. "You did what I think you two did, didn't you?"

And baby

I just wanna be with you

Baby

I need to know your love is true

Baby

I just wanna be with you

Baby

You hit me like a bolt from the blue

You–ooh

You–ooh

You–ooh

"...shut up…"

Song: Meg Myers - A bolt from the blue

Heard the song and immediately thought: how could I use this in my story somehow? So here it is. I'm most likely going to use this BTW. Fucking love this.
