-Good morning Appocalypsburg! - said Emmet Brickowski in a singing voice as he advanced through the shattered city that was now his world.

Around him the sound of chaos and despair made him flinch a little until he pop up his headphones and everything was ok once again. Just like every day, in a routine that he himself made to not get crazy at the sight of the Post-apocalyptic city.

Emmet liked his life in a simple way, things like waking up, drink coffee and go for a walk make him happy, everything else was a bonus for him; having good food, a roof over his head, his little plant in the center of his table, his friends safe and sound, but no one else appreciate that.

In the spawn of five years every single person Emmet has ever met were now; gloomy, rude and violent. "Mature" they said, "ready to fight", Batman said, "taking priorities", said Lucy. But he couldn't understand how being all of those things were and excuse for poor manners, for having a dusty and gritty aesthetic, not enjoying a sunny morning or a good cup of coffee. He was confused, all the time, but he always smiles at every one hopping for a smile to be returned… no one ever did.

Sometimes it was better, early mornings were beautiful to him, the sun waking him up, then he water Planty, prepare breakfast, eat and then go to the coffee shop for Lucy's morning drink and maybe she could smile to him, she was the only one who did it… even it that was barely a grin.

Emmet was the happiest person in the world, more like the only happy person in the world; anyone can tell you that, he is annoyingly positive and energetic, always doing something to try and make thing better when everything was broken.

But even the brightest of the smiles can hide the darkest of the hearts. If anyone tried to actually see beyond that smile then people would notice the dried rivers of tears that get down from Emmet's eyes, the red lines that marked his skin and even the tired smiled that he was trying so hard to keep.

Until that day when his friends get abducted by aliens, when he get so belittled that he went alone to the space and crash against an asteroid that almost kill him… but oh that could have being better than surviving to see the people he loved forgot about him and being happy without him.

After years of that his heart was now made of stone, his old self finally crushed and death, Dry-ar was the grave of Emmet Brickowski and the homeland of Rex Dangervest.

Author Notes: Well I'm here again but with an angst perception of how Emmet get to be Rex, is for, barely a drabble but I hope you all like it!
