RAGS TO RICHES, RICHES TO RAGS

By: akaStoryteller (Vanessa Sgroi)

Sam startled, rearing back when a newspaper was suddenly slapped on the table in front of his face.

"Sam, look at this!"

Sam's eyes scanned the printed page before him. "Uh, what exactly am I looking at, Dean?"

"This!" Dean's index finger landed on a small square of print at the bottom of the page.

Sam squinted and read around his brother's finger. "O-o-okay…and?"

"Buried treasure, Sam! Just think of it—like something right out of a pirate movie!"

"Uh-huh. And?"

"And I think we should go join the search!"

"Join the…" Sam's eyes popped wide. "Dean, we're probably talking acres of land here! It could take forever to find anything! IF there's really anything to be found."

"It's a treasure HUNT, Sam." Dean rolled his eyes. "HUNT as in we're HUNTERS. It's like we were born to do this."

"Dean, just imagine how many people are going to go on this wild goose chase…"

"C'mon, you know we have a better than average chance of finding it." Dean spun around to walk away.

"Where're you going?"

"To pack."

Sam sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. Suddenly one word from the article caught his attention. "Uh, Dean?"

"Yeah?" Dean stopped and looked over his shoulder at his brother.

"Did you read the whole article?"

Dean shrugged. "I skimmed it."

"Then you DO realize this is on an island then?"

"An island? So we're going by boat."

"An ISOLATED island, Dean. The only way in and out is to fly."

"Fly?"

"Yep. Probably in a small prop plane too. I'm betting the runway on this island can't be very big."

Dean shuddered. "I can't do another puddle shuttle."

"So no treasure hunt then?"

Dean sighed in defeat. "Guess not." He paused. "It's too bad. We could've been rich, Sammy."
