"Homeostasis..."

"Hmm? Jesmon. What business does King Drasil have with me this time?"

"Drasil is a king to me no longer. He has slaughtered my four most trusted brothers in arms, Omnimon, Magnamon, Dynasmon, and Gallantmon. I had barely escaped with my own life. I come here to pledge my loyalty to you, if you will have me."

"For what reason would King Drasil destroy four of his strongest Royal Knights?"

"It... It concerns the Child of Light. She is is grave danger."

In the deepest parts of the internet, code began to gather, bunching together until taking the form of an egg. More code gathered, and wrapped around the egg a peculiar necklace appeared, which itself bound a small, gray device. Once fully materialized, the egg locked onto one particular IP address, and with incredible speed, began to move.

Small, brown eyes fluttered open, making out shapes in the dark room. The little girl, only four years old, sat up from her position on the bottom bunk. Her big brother's obnoxious snoring could could be heard on the bunk above.

"I gotta go potty." She muttered sleepily to no one in particular. She slowly pushed herself off the bed and shuffled over to the door, pushing it open lazily as shuffling into the bathroom. A few minutes later, she she walking out, eyes still drooping sleepily, only to shut them tight as blue light poured into the hallway, nearly blinding her dark adjusted eyes. When she finally managed to blink the tears away, she was able to pinpoint the source of the light. It came from the computer room, which was odd. The computer was shut off when they went to bed cause the fan was kinda noisy. What was it doing on? The girl pushed open the door. The computer screen was blue, lines of code running up and down the screen. As the girl stepped foward, the screen suddenly flashed red. The girl gasped, stumbling back and falling on her butt as code actually started coming out of the screen. The code began coming together, taking form as it forced itself out of the screen. With a loud *Plunk*, a rather large egg fell to the floor, and the screen shut off. The little girl stood up, fumbling around for the light switch as she pushed the door closed. In seconds, blinding light filled the room. The girl slowly walked towards the egg, taking note of the strange necklace and even stranger device. Picking up the necklace and device, the girl's eyes sparkled with wonder as the egg suddenly shook.

"Tai! Wake up Tai! You gotta see this!" The boy with wild, spikey brown hair murmured in his sleep, but did not wake. The girl frowned. She dove to her bottom bunk, yanked a whistle from under her pillow, climbed back up, and blew the whistle sharply into the boy's ear. He let out a yelp, leapt into the air, landing on the bed with a thud.

"Geez Kari, what gives?" The seven year old groaned. He reeled back as Kari shoved the egg in his face.

"Look Tai! Look at this egg! It came out of the computer!"

"Kari, eggs don't come out of computers. They come out of chickens."

"This one did! It came out of the computer and it's moving! I think it's gonna hatch soon." As if in confirmation, the egg twitched a bit more violently.

"Then get it outta here! Mom's gonna have a cow if you let some wild animal hatch in the apartment!" Kari blew a short burst on her whistle. "Hey don't get snappy with me! I'm the big sibling so we do what I say!" Another short burst. "That was ONE time! Let it go!" Two short bursts and one medium one. "What!? Don't you dare tell Sora! I ate too much candy and I couldn't find a trashcan!" Two short bursts. "Pleeeaase don't tell her Kari, I-"

*CRACK*

The strange banter ended as a large crack formed on the egg. The crack grew, splintering, wrapping around the egg, which popped open, revealing a small, quivering ball of white fluff. Kari gasped.

"Kawaii!" Tai groaned.

"We're dead."

"Ok, we just gotta figure out a way to get this thing out of the house without waking mom and dad." Tai murmured as he paced around the room a few minutes later. "If we're real quiet, he might just be able too- H-Hey!" Tai yelped as he saw Kari stuffing chocolate bars into the creature's mouth. "Kari! That's my candy!"

"She's hungry."

"That doesn't mean you can feed it my candy! And how do you konw it's a girl?"

"Intuition."

"You don't even know what that word means."

"But I've heard daddy say it and it sounds smart."

"Stop feeding it candy! You'll make it sick! I don't wanna clean up puke!" Suddenly, the little ball of fluff began to glow as it was surrounded by a bright white egg. "What-" The egg burst, revealing a small, yellow cat head with a purple and yellow tail attached. The cat head blinked.

"Hi! I'm Nyaromon! Nice to meet you!"

"It... Talks..."

"Hi Nyaromon! Nice to meet you too!" Kari giggled. Nyaromon bounced towards her excitedly.

"Hey, hey, so, that wierd kid with the cactus hair hair called you Kari right? As in Kari Kamiya?"

"Cactus hair?"

"Yep! That's me! I'm Kari Kamiya!" Nyaromon began bouncing excitedly.

"Yippee! I found you! And on my first try too!"

"You were looking for me?"

"Uh huh, I'm your Digimon partner!"

"Digimon?"

"It's short for Digital Monster. And since I'm your Digimon Partner, we get to be together forever!"

"Yay! You can sleep in my bed Nyaromon!"

"Kari! There's no way mom and dad will let you keel and strange animal that came out of the computer!"

"But you heard Nyaromon. She's my Digimon Partner."

"You don't even know what that means! No way we're keeping it!"

"But..." Kari's lip quivered, and her eyes glistened.

"Oh come on Kari-"

"You made Kari cry! That makes you a bad guy! I'll protect you Kari!" Nyaromon leapt into the startled boy's face. Tai let out a yelp as he stumbled about, attempting to pry the talking cat head head from his face. As he stumbled around, he bumped into a dresser, causing the lamp atop it to fall and hit the floor with a loud crash.

"Uh oh." Kari mumbled as she heard their parent's door fly open, accompanied by angry footsteps before their door flew open.

"What on EARTH is going on here!?" Their mother, Yuuko, demanded, angry at having been awoken at three in the morning by her children that were SUPPOSED to be asleep.

"Hi mommy. This is Nyaromon." Kari pointed to Tai, who had finally managed to pry Nyaromon off. The small Digimon bounced on the floor, before stopping and looking up at the older woman.

"Hi Kari's mommy! I'm Nyaromon! Nice to meet you!" Yuuko stared at Nyaromon, slack jawed as she struggled to find words. Her eyes turned to pinpricks as she attempted to process the small, talking cat head in her children's bedroom.

"...HOLY SH-"

DIGIMON: A NEW BEGINNING:

The Next Morning:

Yuuko watched nervously as Nyaromon scarfed down a plate of bacon and eggs. Her husband, Susumu, and left for work, not even really taking notice of the talking cat head. Kari ate her food quietly while Tai ignored his food in favor of watching Nyaromon.

"Where does she put it all?" He muttered.

"So, uh... Nyaromon..." Yuuko muttered nervously. "You say you're from another world?"

"Uh huh, all Digimon are technically from the Digital World, though my egg came to be in the internet so it's kinda confusing. Anyway, I came here to find Kari cause she's my Digidestined partner. Now that I've found her, we can be together forever!"

"Er... Right..." Yuuko was visibly sweating. Suddenly, the phone began to ring.

"I'll get it." Tai leapt from his chair and pulled the phone to his ear. "Hello, this is Tai."

"This is Sora!" Tai flinched. "Mimi said YOU were the one who threw up in my hat!"

"Hey Sora, I'd love to talk but a big egg came out of our computer last night and hatched into a talking cat."

"Seriously!? Talking cat!? Are you that thick!? Do you know how disgusting it was to put on my hat only to get a head covered in vomit! I almost threw up myself!" Tai's attention turned from Sora's angry rant to Nyaromon, noticing that their mother had pulled Kari away from her as she began acting strange. Just like last night, she became engulfed in a bright, glowing egg. The egg burst to reveal, of all things, a white furred dog with dazzling blue eyes.

"Phew. That'll take some getting used to." The dog yipped.

"Sora, I gotta go. The talking cat just turned into a talking dog."

"Tai you are such a-" Tai never found out what he was, as the call was disconnected with a burst of static.

"Ok... That was weird." Tai put the phone back on the reciever.

"Nyaromon?" Kari asked curiously. The dog shook her head.

"Nope, I Digivolved! I'm Salamon now!"

"Digivolved?"

Yep! Digimon like me can Digivolve to reach more powerful forms. But we need the energy for it. I was able to Digivolve cause I got energy from eating food."

"Kari!" Yuuko squeaked. "That talking cat just turned into a dog! That. Is. Not. Normal!" Kari squeezed out of her mother's arms and ran up to Salamon.

"Can you Digivolve again Salamon?" Kari asked excitedly.

"Yep! But to Digivolve even further would require more than food. Kari, when you got my egg, did you find anything else?" Kari held out the device and strange necklace. "Yes! You use this Digivice-" She pointed to the gray device. "-To lend me your power and help me Digivolve. The Digivice is also a physical representation of our special bond. The Crest-" She pointed to the strange necklace. "-Is used to Digivolve me past Champion Level. Right now I'm Rookie Level."

"You mean it gets MORE powerful!?" Yuuko shook her head frantically. "No, no, that THING is not staying here!" Salamon cocked her head.

"Kari's mommy, I know it might seem scary, but I can assure you I'm a good Digimon. And I promise I'll be here to protect Kari from all the bad Digimon, like that Parrotmon just outside the window firing an attack at u- OH SH-"

"I can't believe he hung up on me!" A seven year old girl grumbled angrily as she walked down the apartment's walkway. "I'm gonna give him a piece of my mind." Just short of her walking in front of the door, it exploded, leaving Sora standing there, frozen. Tai popped his head out.

"Hey Sora, this is a really bad time. Could you come back later?"

"Don't worry Kari, I'll protect you!" Salamon barked. "Puppy Howling!" A powerful howl left Salamon's mouth, striking Parrotmon in the chest. The big Digimon was knocked back a few feet, but was otherwise unfazed. Parrotmon cackled.

"My turn. Sonic Destroyer!" A powerful shockwave blasted Salamon back, to where she skidded to a halt at Tai and Sora's feet.

"You know, you suck at this whole protecting thing." Tai snarked.

"Do you WANT me to bite you?"

"Talking... Dog..." Sora muttered, shaking. Parrotmon turned his attention to Kari.

"I've been looking for YOU." he reached toward the frighted, shaking four year old, grabbing her in his clawed grip.

"Oh no you don't! Sledge Crash!" Salamon slammed full force into Parrotmon's eye. He squawked in pain as he and Salamon, plus Kari, tumbled down towards the parking lot, Parrotmon's sheer weight flattening Yuuko's car.

"KARI!" Yuuko screamed. Parrotmon's wings flapped as he took to the sky, Kari in his grip and Salamon hanging on with her teeth. As the trio flew higher and higher, a distortion opened in the sky above them. Parrotmon cackled.

"Next stop, King- GAH!" As Parrotmon attempted to cross the distortion, a powerful force knocked him back a great distance. He righted himself, Salamon nearly losing her grip in in the process. "What happened!?" Parrotmon's question was answered as a massive, armored humanoid appeared from the distortion. "Jesmon..." Parrotmon said in shock and awe.

"Judgement of the Blade!" In the blink of an eye, one of Jesmon's arm blades carved straight through Parrotmon's right wing, severing it from his body completely. Unable to keep himself in the air, losing his grip on Kari as Salamon lost her grip on him.

"Matt, Matt, look up in the sky!" A little boy shouted. His older brother followed his pointing finger, his eyes widening in surprise as he saw the battle overhead.

"Kari, no, Kari!" Yuuko practically shrieked as she watched her daughter fall. Tai and Sora looked on in shock.

"Prodigious!" Another boy shouted as he attempted to make sense of the battle from his bedroom window, frantically typing on his computer as he did.

"I gotta stop letting Tai talk me into monster movies." A tall, bespectacled boy muttered as he watched from his apartment building's walkway.

"Mommy, Daddy, there's a bunch of monsters in the sky!" A brown haired girl shouted.

"That's nice Mimi." Her mother said, not looking away from her magazine.

For Kari, everything seemed to slow down down as her eyes found Jesmon.

"Digivolve her!" The armored being shouted. Kari's eyes widened. And her heart brimmed with light as the Digivice and Crest began to glow brightly. Salamon was engulfed in an egg of light. Unlike the first two, this one bore the same symbol that was on Kari's crest.

"Salamon, Warp Digivolve to-" The egg grew in size, before bursting, revealing a beautiful, eight winged angel. "Angewomon!" With a flap of her wings, Angewomon closed the distance between her and Kari, grabbing the four year old in her arms. "I got you Kari! Don't worry!"

"Salamon, you're an angel?" Kari asked in awe.

"I'm Angewomon now." She laughed. Her laugh turned into a frown as she noticed Parrotmon. "Here." She helped Kari climb onto her back. "We're not done yet."

"Sonic Destro-"

"Celestial Arrow!" Using her arm as a bow, Angewomon fired an arrow of pure light. Parrotmon squawked as the arrow pierced his chest. Angewomon flapped her wings, flying out of the way as the wounded Parrotmon crashed into a tranformer, violently electrocuting him until the transformer exploded, cutting off power to a good chunk of the city. Angewomon flew level, watching as the smoke cleared, allowing them to watch Parrotmon as he broke apart into data. Angewomon let out a sigh of relief. Upon spotting Yuuko, Tai, and Sora, she floated down to them, gently handing Kari to her mother.

"I told you. I will protect her if it's the last thing I do." Yuuko stared at Angewomon for a few moments, then nodded. The group looked up in time to see Jesmon leave through the Distortion, which shut behind him.

"Who was that guy?" Tai asked.

"Jesmon, one of the thirteen Royal Knight Digimon." Angewomon explained.

"You know, for someone who's never even been to the Digital World, you sure know a lot about it."

"I can't explain it either. It's as if someone took my code and mixed in the entire Digimon Database." Angewomon gasped, clutching her head as her form began to glow, shrinking down until taking the form of a small cat head.

"Angewomon, you're Nyaromon again." Kari gasped.

"I don't think I'm strong enough to stay in my higher forms yet." Nyaromon replied sheepishly.

"Well, at least she'll be easier to hide." Yuuko muttered. Kari's face lit up.

"Does that mean she can stay?" Yuuko sighed.

"She can stay, but you're responsible for her Kari." As Kari cheered, she laid her head in her palm. "I don't know how I'm gonna explain this to your father. Now, we really should leave before the authorities show up, come on kids."

"Um, Sora," Tai began as they started walking. "If it means anything, I really like that dress you're wearing. Personally, I prefer dinosaurs, but that bird design really suits you."

"Thanks Tai, but that doesn't change the fact that you THREW UP IN MY HAT!"

"Hey Matt, do you think one day I'll have an angel of my own?" T.K. asked excitedly. Matt scoffed.

"Hope not. Wolves are cooler."

"Well that happened." Joe yawned. "I should really get back to my paper on seals."

"Aw, I didn't get enough data." Izzy complained. "Ooh! A ladybug! I'll collect data on that."

"I hope I get to see more monsters." Mimi said excitedly as she watered a potted plant.

A black car pulled up to the scene of the destroyed transformer. Police and electric company workers scrambling around to secure the area and assess full extent of the damage. The car door, embolized with a red, stylized X, opened, revealing a middle aged, red haired man in a black suit. As he stepped out, another suited man approached.

"Xenos? I thought it was Monarch that dealt with giant monsters."

"Monarch deals with threats native to this world. Xenos deals with threats that have come from other worlds. This was the work of Digimon. How many are we talking?"

"Three. What appeared to be the aggressor was killed when he crashed into the transformer. The third Digimon went back into the Digital World. What appeared to be an Angewomon is still here in our world, and reports state she was with a little girl, possibly her human partner." The red haired man smirked, turning and staring at the scene of destruction.

"...So, the Child of Light has become active then. Very nice."
