Hey ya'll! Here's a new story. It's a stage-setter for a fic I plan to write in the future. Please read And review. Hope you enjoy.
On a warm day in July of 2033, Agent Timothy McGee and his team slowly trudged into the squad room and flopped down at their desks. They had just solved a case involving a serial killer who was targeting the children in Navy families. When the MCRT was working on the case, they found out that the killer was a woman who had grown up with a mother in the NAVY. She had been abused by her father every time her mother was deployed. The woman not only blamed her parents for her terrible life, but the Navy itself. She justified her actions by saying she was saving the children from the same horrible life she was living. It took a couple of weeks, but the team finally was able to put her away.
"That was a case I never want to revisit." Cassie Jenkins said, exhaustion present in her voice.
"Tell me about it." Nick Torres replied.
Cecilia 'Cissy' Ballard, who had Joined the team a few months after McGee took over as team leader, sighed. "Those poor kids. How could anyone think that doing that to those sweet babies would be a good thing?"
"This world is full of some sick people."
"Sometimes I wonder if I should be doing this job. I mean between my job and Delilah's, there's always a possibility of our kids being in danger."
Torres slapped McGee on the back and said, "I hear ya, bro. Gabi is always worrying about what my job could mean for our family, especially for Bella. To tell the truth, I get a little worried, myself. I mean, sometimes."
"I never used to think about it much, but ever since Clarissa was born, I get so scared that something could happen to her." Clarissa was Cassie and Jason's two year old daughter.
Before anyone could respond, Tony came in and joined them saying, "McGee, call down and get Kasie up here. Torres, call autopsy and get Jason and Autopsy Gremlin. I have an announcement."
It didn't take long for the three others to get up to the squad room.
"What's going on, Director?" Kasie asked. Jason nodded and added, "Yeah, Tony. What's the big announcement?"
"Well, I pulled some strings and the other two teams are taking over our case load for a couple of weeks so you can all get a well-deserved vacation." A loud cheer rang out from the group.
"I think we all deserve this time. I plan to make the most of it. You all should, too." Tony said when the cheers had died down.
Palmer broke into a big grin. "I have an idea. Can you all come over for dinner tonight? I'll call Jesse and Abby, too."
"Should we get baby-sitters?" Cassie asked.
Palmer shook his head. "Nah. Tori can handle the kids. Tony, would Tali and AJ be able to come help?"
"I'll check with them," was the reply.
All of the NCIS agents and employees agreed to come that evening. Abby and Jesse were free as well.
After dinner, Tori and the oldest DiNozzo twins got the kids settled in the rec room with games and movies.
Once the adults had cleaned up and sat down in the living room, Abby spoke up. "So Jimmy what's your idea? Why'd you want to meet tonight?"
Palmer smiled and began, "Well, Tony pulled strings to get all of us at NCIS off. I know that you and Jesse and Ziva probably have vacation time coming as well, and the twins and Tori are all home from school. Gabi, Delilah, if you can get off, Breena has a friend who is a tourist agent. She can get us a really great deal on a Disney cruise and a few days in the Magic Kingdom. I think it would be great if we could all go on a vacation together, the entire NCIS family. What do you all think?"
There was silence for a moment before Torres said, "Wait a minute. Don't you have to plan a trip like that like six months in advance?"
Breena grinned and said, "Ordinarily, yes. But my friend has connections and hears about cancelations as soon as they happen. There was supposed to be a huge family reunion happening, but there was a death in the family and they had to cancel."
"Aww. That's so sad!" Abby lamented.
"So what do you guys think? The cruise is in a week. It will last four days and then we'll spend the next week at Disney World. There's one more room left after all of us, so we can even see if Ellie, Clay, and their girls can join us." Palmer explained.
"Well, I'm sure I can get off. There aren't any major cases at DOD right now." Delilah replied
"I can get a sub for my classes." added Ziva. Gabi said she thought she could get off, too. Then they connected with the Reeves family on Skype.
"Hey you guys! What's going on?" Ellie asked excitedly. Palmer explained the plan to her and Clay.
"I think we could get the time. And we can swing it financially. You guys book the rooms and flight and we'll get the money to you." Clay told them.
"Done!" Palmer replied with a grin. After talking a bit longer, the friends signed off.
Palmer clapped his hands together. "Ok. Looks like this is really happening. I wonder if we should call Gibbs and invite him."
"Gibbs on a Disney cruise and gallivanting around Disney World? At his age?" McGee asked incredulously.
"I really can't see him going for that." Delilah said.
"We should still ask him, though. Just to let him know we didn't forget about him." Abby said.
Tony called Gibbs, who declined the invitation, but offered to keep the Krakowsky family pets while they were gone.
After Tony got off the phone, Delilah, Ziva, and Gabi all sent their time off requests online.
"The kids are going to freak out." Torres predicted, once the requests were sent.
He was right, of the news was revealed, after time off was approved for everyone, there were excited shrieks all over town from kids ranging from the ages of nineteen to two.
"This will totally rock! I've always wanted to go on a Disney cruise." Johnny McGee responded, high- fiving his sister.
"I can't wait! When do we leave?" signed Caty Krakowsky.
Abby hugged her daughter before signing back, "Saturday morning and we'll be gone for two weeks."
"This will be so awesome!" Kasie Palmer exclaimed.
Across the pond, Julie and her five year old sister, Mallory were jumping up and down and screaming.
"We're going to Disney! We're going to Disney!"
"Calm down! We still have a week before we leave." Ellie said with a laugh.
The younger DiNozzo kids had no problem expressing their excitement over the news. They jumped and danced around and cheered very loudly until Ziva had to call out over them, "That is enough shouting. I know you are all excited but it is time to settle down for now. Tali and AJ helped their mom and dad settle the younger kids down even though they were almost as excited as their siblings.
Needless to say everyone was really over the moon about this epic vacation. Over the next couple of days, they packed and repacked until they were sure they had everything they would need. While they were packing the kids' suitcases, seven year old Danny asked Abby, "Why isn't Grandpa Gibbs coming with us? He's the only one in the family not coming. I want him to come."
"Grandpa Gibbs is getting older and a cruise and trip to Disney world isn't really his thing." the boy's mother explained.
"Can we go see him before we leave?" Alex, Danny's eleven year old brother asked.
"Well, he's taking care of Cocoa and Scout while we're gone, so we'll see him when we take them over there." Abby replied.
"And we could bring him a present back, too. Right?" fourteen year old Kelly added.
Abby smiled. "Of course."
That Friday evening before they trip, all of Gibbs' kids and their families headed over to visit the former team leader.
"So what time do you all leave tomorrow?" the older man asked.
"Well, the plane leaves Dulles at seven AM and the ship leaves the dock at four PM. We'll land in Port Canaveral in at three PM which will give us time to get our stuff and make it to the dock."
"You all deserve this trip. I'm happy for ya." was Gibbs' reply.
Bella crawled up into her surrogate Grandpa's lap. "I wish you were going with us, Grandpa Gibbs.
"Ah. You don't need me slowin' ya down. You'll have a lot more fun without me. You can tell me all about it when you get back. Besides, who would take care of your canine family members if I went with you?" Gibbs pointed out.
"But we'll miss you, Grandpa Gibbs." insisted Morgan McGee.
"Yeah!" the other kids all called out in agreement.
Gibbs rolled his eyes. "I'll miss you, too. But I'm really glad I don't have to go traipsing all over Disney World. This old body wouldn't be able to take it." The rest of the group laughed and Abby hugged her father figure.
"We'll call you when we land and then later to check on you. We'd better get home now. We gotta get to sleep. Big day tomorrow."
"Thanks for stopping by, kids. See ya in a couple of weeks." Gibbs said. The others all hugged the man as well before heading out.
Thanks for watching Cocoa and Scout for us." Jesse said, shaking Gibbs' hand.
"Not a problem. We get along just fine. I'll take good care of them." was the reply. The kids all hugged Gibbs one more time, and then Abby took her turn.
"See you when we get back, Gibbs. Thanks again for taking our fur babies in." she said before pulling back
"Have fun and be careful, Abs." Gibbs responded, kissing his surrogate daughter's forehead. Then the Krakowsky family headed back home to bed.
The next day everyone ate a quick breakfast and headed to the airport. They checked the bags in and made it to their gate. Once they were boarded and settled in their seats, Tori Palmer said, "This is so cool!"
"I know. And I'm just glad you can come with us, Sis!" Donny Palmer said, hugging his sister before sitting down in the seat across from her. After several minutes, the announcement came for the passengers to buckle up and prepare for takeoff. Soon, the plane began to taxi down the runway.
"Here we go!" Jax McGee shouted out with glee. The other kids squealed in excitement. This promised to be the best vacation ever.
