Blind
I wrote this right after watching episode 60. And in the middle of the fight, I thought, Roy is blind. He just lost his sight, and no matter how brave you are, that's a lot to deal with.
Roy has been scared before. Even when he knows that Hawkeye is ready to shoot whoever's holding a gun to his head. There's always a little twist of fear in his stomach at those moments. One wrong move and it's all over.
But this. This is something else. He can't see. Hawkeye can't get him out of this one. He can't see, his hands hurt, and he's terrified.
Something is happening. Fullmetal is yelling. The woman I talking to him. There are other voices that he can't separate. The crackle of alchemy, the smell of heated stone and metal.
It wraps around him, restraining his arms. There's so much pressure, and he still can't see, how can he fight if he can't see?
And then a horrible feeling, like his very soul is being torn apart. He can't scream, his muscles tight, paralyzed. He wants to scream at the awful, violating feeling. This isn't right, how is this happening, what is happening to him.
A cool, liquid-solid-something rises, engulfing his body, and then
there is
nothing
