A/N: A new HTTYD fic! For you who think I've just gotten into the series, I've actually been a fan since like I was nine, but I didn't really love it that much until I watched HTTYD 3 and read an amazing fic, now I'm in love with it again and proclaim my self as a HTTYD fangirl. Anyways, hope you guys enjoy this one-shot!
Credits to Spitty-Chan for the title!
We sit on the grassy cliff as Astrid fiddles with my hair, entwining them around her fingers. I glance at her, observing her careful work. She loops my rather short hair, then tightens them with a separate strand.
"There!" she smiles proudly at her work. She's braided my hair. She sports her own braid, although its way longer. I start to take it out, since it looks funny sticking out of my hair. I'm rewarded with a slap on the wrist as Astrid bats my hand away.
"Don't take it out! It looks cute on you!" she says, starting on another braid beside the first one.
"Braids suit you better than me." I puff. The last thing I want is Astrid knowing that I don't like the braid, so I need to be careful with my words.
"You look handsome in them, please Hiccup?" she pouts, finishing off the second braid. Her blue eyes twinkle in the sunset.
"Fine, but only on one condition. Let me braid your hair." I grin. I'm not the best at tying hair, but I can tie a good knot, and watching Astrid braid her and my hair must have given me some knowledge of how to do it. How hard can it be?
She lets out a sigh, then begins to take out the braid at the back of her head. She flicks her hair to her shoulders and I feel a blush creeping up on my cheeks. I rarely see Astrid with her hair down. When I do, it's usually tied up as fast as it was let down. I caress her cheek, which brings a rosy colour to her face.
I have to admit, my work is scrappy. Random strands of hair stick out at random places, but it still looks like a braid. She runs it through her fingers, evaluating it.
"I love it." she blushes, nudging me in the shoulder. She pulls me into a kiss, and just like always, the whole world goes silent, and it's just us. After a few seconds, she pulls away and I realise what I've done.
"Oh Gods, I put the braid on your side, not on the back." I mutter. Her blonde hair slides over her shoulder and hangs over her heart. "Sorry."
"Eh, I like it better this way." she smiles, leaning onto my side, smirking at the sunset. "We should head back now. You're dad is going to get worried. We've been out nearly all day."
"Agreed." I mutter. "I'd rather not have one of his father-son talks today."
We call our dragons and head off to Berk, both looking somewhat different then we did before.
A/N: yeah that ending was bad...
