I continue the oneshot collection, I will continue it as long as I have ideas to add to it, and as long as there are people to read it.

Nightmare

Wendy is 13 in this oneshot, it takes place between Eclipse arc and Tartaros arc

Natsu and Wendy had gone on a mission. They were gone just the two of them because the rest of team Natsu wanted a break after going on mission non stop recently, and Happy had finally convinced Charle to go on a date with him.

Now, they had just finished their mission, which was about exterminating monsters which were threatening a small town, nothing too difficult for the two dragon slayers.

"Let's go home" Wendy cheered, going for the train station.

"We have time, can't we walk home rather than go on that… thing" Natsu said, going green just thinking about taking the train.

"Yes, you're right, we're in no rush to go home, and we're just two days of walk away from Magnolia" Wendy answered, and the bot(h of them walked out of town, through the forest, on their way to Magnolia.

After a few more hours, the sun was starting to set, and Natsu could see Wendy was exhausted and ready to fall asleep.

"We should set up a camp, we'll continue walking tomorrow" he told her

"Yes, you're right" she answered, and they set their stuff in a clearing Natsu spotted a few minutes before.

"I'll go get us something to eat, I'll be back in a minute" he told her as he left toward the forest to hunt their dinner.

Ten minutes later, he came back with a lot of raw meat.

"Natsu, you'll need to cook it before we can eat it" Wendy told him

"Don't worry" he answered, as he breathed just enough fire on the meat to cook it correctly.

After the both of them had eaten their share of the meal (Natsu eating far more than Wendy), they decided to go to sleep as they were both quite tired from the mission and the walk.

In just a few minutes, both of them were in deep sleep.

~Wendy's dream~

She was back in the forest where she had grown up with Grandiney, she wondered how she had come back here. Though, before she had time to think about it too much, she began to hear the sound of huge wings flapping in the air. When she looked up, she was speechless as she saw Grandiney coming toward her and landing just a few tens of meters away from her. As soon as she processed what she just saw, she started to run as fast as she could toward Grandiney, though, as she was waling toward the Wind dragon, Grandiney seemed to be going further and further away from her.

"Mama, wait for me!" she shouted, hoping Grandiney would hear her.

"Don't call me that, you're not my daughter" she heard the dragon answering her sharply

"But…" she stopped running, on the verge of tears

"Why do you think I left you, you don't deserve to call yourself my daughter" the dragon answered, effectively making Wendy burst in tears.

"Wendy!" she started hearing from a familiar voice

"Wendy wake up!" wait, she was asleep

After a few more minutes, she recognized the voice as Natsu's and her eyes flew open, as she saw the clear night sky and Natsu shaking her to wake her up, she remembered where she was, though that didn't stop her crying.

"Wendy, did you have a nightmare?", the fire dragon slayer asked gently

She nodded, not able to speak through her sobs. Though, she suddenly felt warm arms wrapping around her and bringing her toward Natsu. Just a second later, she was enveloped in his warmth.

"Shh Wendy, it was just a dream, you're okay" he said, trying to be soothing

After a few more minutes, she had started to calm down thanks to him.

"So, do you want to talk about it?" he asked as he released the hug slightly to look her in the eyes.

"Yes, I was in the forest where I grew up with mama, and she was there, and she said I didn't deserve to call myself her daughter" she told him, bursting in tears once again.

"Shh Wendy, it was just a dream, I'm sure Grandiney would be very proud of you if she was there" he told her gently

"But I wasn't good enough, if I was she wouldn't have left" Wendy cried

"I'm sure there is a reason to why our dragon parents left, but I know it's not your fault Wendy, I'm sure Grandiney would love to be with you but didn't have a choice" he said

"How do you know?" the blue haired girl asked

"Because you're a great person Wendy, anybody in their right mind would want to have you in their family, you're just so amazing" he told her, smiling his toothy grin at her.

"Re-really, you would like me to be in your family?" she asked unsure

"Well of course, in a sense you're already family as you're part of the guild" he answered her

"Can you-can you be my big brother?" she asked, hope visible in her big brown eyes.

"You would really want an idiot like me as your big brother?" Natsu asked her incredulously

"Of course Natsu, you did so much for me, if it wasn't for you I would still be the shy little girl I was when I met you"

"Then I'd be happy to be your big brother, little sis" he told her smiling brightly at her.

As he was releasing the hug to go back to where he was sleeping before being woken up by Wendy's sobbing, he was stopped by Wendy grabbing his wrist.

"Can you stay here, I don't want to be alone" she asked desperately

"Of course Wendy" he answered, lying down next to her and wrapping his arms protectively around his surrogate little sister.

"Thank you big brother" Wendy answered sleepily, as she was already being lulled to sleep by the feeling of warmth and safety providing by the pink-haired dragon slayer.

As the morning came, Wendy was happy to wake up to Natsu's loud snores. A few hours later, he woke up too and both of them continued on their way back to the guild. Wendy knowing that even without Grandiney, she still had a family. That was the last time she had a nightmare about Grandiney leaving her.

So please continue reviewing, wheter it is to ask questions about the stories, or to give suggestion for future chapters, I have a few ideas, but I really like to get new ones.
