A/N: Hi, Chippy here! I hope this story can bring you some comfort during this scary time of the COVID-19. Before you get started, I just wanted to thank you for clicking on this story and to let you know I pushed our favorite hero students to their second year of school. There may be some kissing and cuddling in the future of this story, but I don't foresee anything turning into more. With that, enjoy!
9:10 am. The second year students sat in silence as the clock's ticks filled the room. Mr. Aizawa was exactly ten minutes late to class. Something felt off, and murmurs began to spread around class 2-A. Tsuyu placed a finger on her chin. "Is it just me, or is Mr. Aizawa later than usual, ribbit?" she asked.
"Yes, I wonder if something is wrong," said Momo. Iida turned to look at her and nodded. They stood up to make their way to the front of the room to keep their class under control.
Kaminari chuckled and placed his feet on his desk. "Maybe he overslept. Do you think we can leave once 15 minutes has passed like in American universities?" he asked.
Iida began to wave his arm up and down. "That is not acceptable, Kaminari! There must be a logical explanation for his absence," he said.
"Maybe he's sick?" Hagakure suggested.
"We would have had a substitute by now," Shoji said.
The class erupted in theories about what could have happened to Aizawa. Kaminari watched the clock slowly tick by while Iida and Momo tried to calm the class down. He stood up, hands gripping the side of his desk. Almost there, he thought. As soon as 9:15 struck, Mr. Aizawa walked in. Kaminari sighed and slumped down onto his seat. "What in the world is going on here?" Aizawa asked.
Iida stood up straight. "Good morning, sir," Iida said, "We were discussing your whereabouts"
Momo smiled and said, "We were a little worried since it's so late, sir."
Aizawa waved for them to go back to their seats. "That's nice to hear, but I was just caught up in a morning meeting. I have some sort of news for all of you," he said.
Mina raised her hand. "Are you and Ms. Joke finally together?" she squealed.
Aizawa scowled, and as he was about to object, Principal Nezu popped out of his scarf. "Oh-ho, that would be wonderful news, Ms. Ashido, but that is not what I have come to discuss today," he said.
"Principal Nezu?" the class exclaimed.
The some-sort-of-animal-experiment-principal swiveled down the scarf onto the podium. "Yes, it's me, your principal! I do apologize for keeping your teacher away, but we were discussing a very important matter. Has anyone heard of the Hero's Gala?"
Midoriya's hand shot up. "That's the fancy gathering of pro-heroes, right? Japan has it every other year where heroes celebrate their accomplishments," he said.
Uraraka clapped her hands. "Oh, I remember seeing the red carpets on tv!" she exclaimed, "The heroes were the finest gowns and suits from the best fashion companies."
Nezu nodded. "Those are all correct. However, you missed one crucial component. Each gala year, the planning committee choses a high school class focused on hero work to take part in the festivities to allow the students to network.. I'm pleased to announce that your class was chosen for this year."
"WHAT!?" the class shouted.
Kirishima's hand shot up. "What made them decide to choose us?" he asked.
Aizawa crossed his arms. "They recognized the hard work this class has done in their first and so far into your second year. You all have dealt with more things than regular students do in their third year. They felt like it was more than fair," he stated.
Midoriya gripped his fists. Heroes are really starting to notice us, he thought. He smiled and said, "Thank you for telling us about this great honor."
The class began to discuss to themselves the fact that they were going to this fancy party with a bunch of pro-heroes. Aizawa cleared his throat. "We are not finished."
"Unfortunately, we only have a little over two weeks before the gala. They love to make last minute decisions," Nezu laughed.
"This upcoming Sunday will be a dress and suit fitting day. The committee is paying for it, so they will be made by professional designers," Aizawa said. The girls awed at that while Bakugou's mind flashed an image of Best Jeanist. He shivered at the thought. "This event is mandatory, but I do have a catch." The class collectively held their breath. "You must have a date or accompaniment or whatever you want to call it. There is dancing involved, and our class is expected to begin the first dance." He looked at the class reps. "You two will lead us like normal."
"Understood," Iida said. Momo, a little flustered, only nodded.
"After the gala, you will need to write a one page paper of your experience. So if you don't go, there goes some of your grade." Bakugou rolled his eyes while a few other students gasped. "I don't care if you take someone of the same gender, they are related to you or whatever. Just take someone you know won't embarrass me, the class, or the school. I expect you all to be on your best behavior." Aizawa glanced at Mineta who was already scheming on which girl in the class to take. The erasure hero's scarf grabbed one of Mineata's balls on his head to make him look forward. Mineta only smiled a sheepish grin.
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of you. Make it count," Nezu said as he waved goodbye to the students.
"Thank you, Principal Nezu, we won't let you down!" Midoriya said.
"Now that's over, let's begin our actual school work," Aizawa said as he turned to the board. Kaminari immediately pulled out his phone and texted the boys group chat.
Kaminari: Boys meeting. After dinner in the common area.
Some of the boys checked their phones and proceeded to like his message. Bakugou glanced at his phone and scoffed. This is so dumb, he thought and shoved his phone back into his pocket. The girls were doing the same thing.
Mina: Girls meeting. After dinner in Momo's room.
Momo: Why my room?
Hagakure: Fancy tea and your big comfy bed!
Jirou liked the message.
Uraraka: Exactly!
Momo: Fine.
Tsu used the laughing reaction at Momo's message. Then she glanced behind to see Tokoyami who was taking notes. She peered at her desk and decided that after class she had to make her move. After about 20 minutes of lecture, the bell rang.
