A/N: This is something that has been in my head for a long time now. You see I'm a huge fan of Jaune Arc even if my knowledge of the actual show is minimal at best. It really pissed me off how little of his origins and backstory is known. Hell most of the things you see online about him are fan made so maybe that's why fans love him. I'm not trying to be sexist but the amount of roles given to men in this series is so sparse it hurts. The only ones we see are either forgettable or they die off. Enough ranting, let's do this

Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY but if I did, I'm pretty sure I would make Jaune a more fleshed out character.

Age: 6

It was a regular occurrence. Ever since he had heard of his grandfather's huntsman stories on his sixth birthday, he had always wanted to be a huntsman. And yet every time he told his father he would receive the same answer

"The Life of a huntsman isn't as bright as you think it to be Jaune, why don't you focus on being something else like a scientist or a doctor. Give up on this silly dream of yours."

But he never listened, to him being a Huntsman was the greatest job in the world. His six-year-old naïve mind coming up with various fantasies where he would stand on the corpses of slain Grimm, a sword in his hand and hundreds if not thousands of people cheering him on in the background. He may have been a child, but he wasn't completely oblivious. He could see his parents and two older siblings looked at him with sadness and pity each time he talked about his dream. He would show them he was strong; he would unlock his aura, find his semblance and beat up Grimm while looking awesome and be the hero he always wanted to be. He was snapped out of his fantasy by the sounds of hushed whispers emanating from his parents' room. Climbing up the stairs as stealthily as he could he walked over to their doors and pressed his ears to the door to listen in on their conversation.

"I can't keep doing this anymore Vicky"

"Lemme guess, Jaune asked you to train him again. Just let him be, he'll grow out of his naivety eventually…. I hope."

"Why did I ever let dad tell him his old stories. Now my son is obsessed with becoming a huntsman, A HUNTSMAN!"

"Shush don't be so loud or he might hear you. Look right now he's just a child. Children always have crazy fantasies when their young. Let him grow up a bit. Maybe on his tenth birthday we'll break it to him gently."

'Break what. Maybe they'll finally let me start training on my tenth birthday.' Having heard enough he silently walked into his room and sat on the bed with a smile on his face. 'Now my birthday seems so far away' He glanced at the shattered moon of remnant. 'Just have to wait'

Arc Family Bedroom

Sitting on the King-sized bed was Nicholas Arc, the head of the Arc family. He scratched his blond modest sized beard as he looked towards his wife, Victoria Arc, who was current rifling through the wardrobe.

"You want me keep listening to his ludicrous dreams for four more years?" she hummed in response as she closed the wardrobe.

"He's a child Nick, by the time he's ten he would have matured somewhat. Then we'll tell him."

"Fine. I'll keep quiet for now"

Age: 9

For some time, he had kept quiet, he didn't nag his family as much again for huntsman training as he knew he would be trained at his next birthday. His family of course noticed his silence and thought he had finally given up on his dreams. He still listened to his grandfather's stories with childlike amazement, but He didn't talk about being a hunter even though it was clear he still wanted to be one. He really didn't see the reason for school though, if he was going to become a huntsman and save people while fighting Grimm, he didn't need to ace school. Such thoughts led to him sleeping in classes and even skipping some of them. It all came crashing down on him when he received his test results and was met with Ds.

It had been a horrible experience, his family didn't openly show it but it was clear they were disappointed. It pained him; it was a feeling he never wanted to experience again. With that he started studying, he rarely took breaks, stopped playing games and even at some points skipped a night of sleep all so he could cover an entire semester's worth of stuff. The effects of such changes started to show, since the only breaks he allowed himself to take were that of either hunger or exhaustion he started losing weight and even developed permanent eyebags. His family noticed his new lifestyle and when questioned he would always reply…

'I have to pass this class no matter what, I won't be in the top ten, the top five or the top three, I will be number one.'

So, it didn't surprise the Arcs when his report card came in and he had perfect scores in both the tests and the following exams, even going as far as pleading with the school to take an even higher test to replace the previous one. His family wished to celebrate his success, but he declined saying he still had to study for the following semester. Reading it seems, was exciting to Jaune Arc, opening a book and finding information he didn't know filled him with a sense of completeness. He didn't let things like class years deter him, why wait years to learn college algebra and calculus when you could do so now. He even went as far as saving up money to take both the high school and junior college exams to get his certificates early.

(Flashback: Age 8)

"Jaune!" he heard his mother call. This was weird, his parents knew he dedicated his days to books and only interrupted him for meals and family meetings. Seeing as it was noon, he assumed it was the latter. Unless of course it was a family outing, but he kept tabs on all the happenings of the house and so far, nothing celebratory had happened. Letting out a sigh he left his room and walked over to the living room where his parents and seven sisters sat waiting.

'Guess it's a meeting after all'" Mother you called." His parents looked up from the papers they both seemed to be staring at.

"Jaune, where did you get these" said his father as he handed him the papers. Looking at them he saw that they were the results from his exams.

"These are my certificates father."

"Certificates?"

"Yes, I have already covered the topics, so I don't need to waste time going to school."

"Wasting time" said his mother with a confused expression. "Why would you want to skip school. You can get other things from school except from information. Things like friendships, relationships and morals."

"Such things don't increase my intellect, and such don't concern me." his family gave him sad looks which confused him. He had thought his family would be happy with his success. It didn't mean anything to him though, he did the exams not for bragging rights, but to give him free time to study more and expand his knowledge.

"Jaune is this all about not training you to be a huntsman?"

"No" he said with a straight face shocking the family once more. They all knew of his dream to be a hero. "You were right father; such a dream can endanger me. I'll leave the hunting to those who want to do so while I keep to myself. Do you know I have an IQ of 230, apparently it's the highest in the world. Can you imagine me risking my life after knowing something like that." Once again, his family was shocked, both at his IQ and his attitude.

"Jaune" this time it was his oldest sister Saphron who talked. "What about saving people. I thought that was your reason for wanting to be a huntsman" Jaune let out a little chuckle which surprised them as he rarely showed emotions.

"Those were the days, days when I was a naïve child." He stared at his right palm. "I'm no longer that child, I have grown."

"You're 8yrs old Jaune, you're still a young boy" said his father who had been silent."

"Physically, not mentally. I thought you of all people would be happy, after all I'm no longer pursuing a huntsman career."

"I am Jaune. I have a question though, how do you feel about people?"
"Oh I see, you fear for my mental health. Make no mistake father I still have emotions; I just lock them away."

"Lock away your emotions."

"Emotions are an important thing yes, but they are better suited for people who fight or something. People who pursue the path of science have no need for science. I still respect morals and the Laws of Nature." He let out a loud yawn. "Hmm, it seems 31 hrs without sleep is my current limit. Nevertheless, I shall just take some caffeine." He walked over to the coffee machine and put in a new batch.

"YOU STAYED AWAKE FOR 31 HOURS!" screamed his mother in horror.

"I don't need sleep anymore. I no longer go to school." He poured himself a cup and started walking back to room but was stopped by a tiny pair of arms around his leg. He looked down to see his 4yr old sister Jade who was the youngest in the family.

"Do you still love us big brother" letting out another rare smile he set down his cup and picked her up.

"Yes, I do, no matter what I'll always have time for family"

"Then you'll play with us" her face filled with hope….

"Of course not" which died immediately.

"And why not?"

"I still have books"

"But you do have time, now don't you?" he didn't like the smile on his mother's face as she said that. "Afterall you don't have school anymore, so you have all the time in the world now." He was about to retort but unfortunately for him, her logic checked out.

"Fine, I'll humor you for now."

(Flashback End)

From that time his family had started treating him like glass as they feared for his mental health. At first, it was endearing, but now it was annoying. They always included him in all family events and discussions leaving him with less time for his studies. But he accepted it all as he stated before, family stood before all else. He also expanded his studies. To him, all knowledge was precious so he accepted everything he could see. He still had to study for his master's degree but his parents prevented him from taking them. It mattered not, he didn't require the certificates at this time. When they were required, he would take them, but for now, he would stay complacent.

'All that remains now is the wait' he looked at his calendar to see only one week left till his tenth birthday.

A/N: This is all I could write now without revealing too much. I will appreciate any and all reviews as they will decide whether or not I'll continue this fic. I'm also thinking of doing an audio version of my A/Ns since I'm too lazy to write them. I'm also thinking of giving Jaune the Sharingan since I feel that it would complement his personality. Tell me your answers in the reviews and the poll I set. Also feel free to criticize my writing if mistakes are seen. I always look forward to the input of my fans. Till next time my friends.
