"#Huff…#Huff#...#huff#..."

Loud, VERY loud panting sounds escaped his lips like prisoners trying to break out of their confinement into the free world, accompanied by bone-chillingly cold breath formed thanks in no small part to the equally chilling air surrounding him as he ran like he had never run before, his brain not telling him to do anything else than just this moment, nothing could deter him from these actions, for everything else had become pretty much pointless and irrelevant. His arms moved back and forth on both sides of his body like they were pendulums in a pendulum clock, whilst his hair clung to his head like a messy mop covered in water or something… which wasn't so inaccurate compared to what he had recently experienced.

'I have to run… I have to get outta here… I must run… Gotta run-gotta run-gotta run!'

Within a large, ever-expansive looking forest, a young boy of 8 years of age with dark silver hair and ice blue eyes that looked to be somewhat rimmed with a light ultramarine ran through it like there was nothing else of more importance… which, in his case, could be pretty understandable. His clothes looked less like such and instead looked more like rags considering how tattered they looked, some areas stained with the thick life liquid known as blood… the boy's own blood, which came from various wounds on his person. His clothes consisted of a blue shirt and green jeans, jeans which had a single leg piece missing to leave the leg beneath up to just above the knee exposed to the harsh elements, though his feet remained bare and as such, his feet looked like they had seen better days. They looked to be covered to the brim in all sorts of nasty-looking scratches, some rather light whilst others ran much deeper, resulting in every step he took felt like he had been stung by thousands of bees at once. As in, EACH step he took AT A TIME… ouch.

Glancing behind him, the boy checked to see if his pursuers were still trying to track him down, not trusting his ears in his moment of distress. To his horror and prompting the cold plummeting sensation within his gut, the boy saw several figures in the distance, each of them looking like ordinary humans if one looked at them in a passing glance. However, upon closer inspection, one would have been able to peel away the facades to expose them for what they really were: they had these long, pointy ears similar to the fantastical elf-like beings one would see in things like Anime or Manga, along with the more… noticeable traits: a pair of large, bat-like wings which they were currently using as more of a means to help balance themselves since they looked rather exhausted compared to him.

'They're still following me?! What the hell is going on here?! What do they want from me right now?!' the boy screamed in his mind as he turned back to his running direction in order to pick up the pace, not wanting them to catch him… he knew what they would do to him if they did. This all just didn't make any sense to him, why the hell were there some grown-up adults trying to kill him, just after he managed to take down his father for actions that were his own doing?! That guy got what he deserved, so why was HE being the one to get targeted?!

It had become all too apparent when he had first seen them that they were after his life. The fact that they brandished an assortment of bladed weaponry pretty much confirmed everything one needed to know, and for a child his age, knowing what those things were allowed him to figure out their intentions quite easily.

"There he is!"

"Finally, hurry up so we can capture him and deliver him to lord Rizevim!"

"Oh, thank Satan! The sooner we finish this, we can finally take a break..."

"I agree all of this chasing makes me exhausted."

Shouts like these were able to reach the boy's ears as he put even more effort into running as fast as his legs could carry him. Their words seemingly felt similar to the death toll one would hear from a church bell the moment someone passed into the afterlife for him, filling his chest with mounting levels of dread and fear. But, more than that the surge of helplessness which dominated his mind right now made him want to burst into tears… as if he would let that happen though since that would pretty much serve as only a distraction, an unneeded one to be exact.

Whilst he ran, his lungs pretty much immolating with how hot they felt inside his chest, the boy finally managed to get in some thoughts OTHER than fleeing for his life. Like, for example how these men called themselves something called 'Devils' (well, he kinda figured something like that to be the case from their Wings alone) and they were coming for him on the orders of someone named 'Rizevim Lucifer', someone whom they said was his grandfather on his father's side (which already put him on the boy's shit list), to capture him and bring him back to him. Why? The boy wasn't too sure on that one, but something told him that thing which recently appeared on his person when he killed his father, two large white draconian-looking wings with 8 energy-like 'Feathers',4 on each wing, which was actually still out ever since he did the damning deed. Apparently, these things were some sort of big deal to his so-called Grandfather, which made escaping from those men all the more imperative for him.

Hurry child, hurry before they get to you!

In one moment, a loud, deep and dark yet hollow voice erupted from two sources: within the depths of his mind as well as the wings on his back. Heck, a visual clue to this would be how the wings flashed like flashing lights when the voice, which reminded the boy oddly enough of a Dragon, spoke to him. The boy did not know a single thing about it, but since it had been helping him out in his escaping so far, he had to trust it since there had been nobody else he COULD trust. Not anymore.

Still, the fact that the wings flashed like they did whenever the voice spoke to him resulted in the pursuers to spot his form like a boat searching for the light of a lighthouse in the middle of a storm. They were getting close sure, but these Wings (as if they weren't telling enough already) weren't helping things in that sense. The boy almost wished he could just will them away, but the voice had told him that would have been a bad idea, for it had been due to their 'effect' which was to drain the energy of other beings and add it to his own reserves that was helping him stay ahead of the hounds. To disperse them now would only be to his disadvantage.

'Hurry… gotta hurry… gotta escape… huh?'

Whilst he ran for his life, the young boy then noticed something on his left that made him curious. There, rapidly approaching, looked like… a portion of the forest that didn't look the same as the rest. Instead, there seemed to be a long pathway, filled to the brim with fallen trees, some areas covered in some sort of ash. Some of the tees had their branches torn off and scattered across the ground, with some areas still steaming with small steam trails rising up into the atmosphere. Furthermore, he could still see some sort of charred areas, resulting in a confused gaze forming over the boy's features. Now, the thing was, that whilst the boy was currently running for his feeble, frail little life he was STILL a kid under the age of 10. Kids tended to be curious at a young age, and thus as the boy didn't have anywhere else to go since he likely would end up exhausting himself otherwise, he took this as his golden opportunity. With this in mind, he then took a sharp turn and dashed forth into the destroyed pathway like a madman.

Obviously, these actions earned him some irked/irritated responses from his pursuers.

"Hey, the damned brat turned left!"

"Ah come on we're almost close to him!"

"Wait guys, doesn't this area look different to you?"

"Who cares about that, you idiot?! Just fucking capture him!"

Although one of them had indeed seen the massive devastation and had become alarmed by it, none of his comrades were willing to listen to him. After all, considering how much the boy's running had put them through the ringer combined with how those wings had previously managed to rob them of a portion of their energies, their patience understandably had worn down. Thus, they just wanted to get this over with so they could rest back at their homes with their multiple sex slaves, uncaring for much else besides that.

Poor bastards… didn't even realize JUST what they had ran into… neither did the boy, actually.

Speaking of said boy, he internally began to regret his urge to sate his own curiosity the more he traversed this patch. The ground itself remained uneven as all hell thanks to the countless uprooted trees and fallen branches all over the place, with more than one instance of him almost tripping over some of them. Not only that, but he suffered from many long gashes and cuts during his maneuvering through the destroyed wilderness, never once giving thought to how this had all come to be here due to his fight or flight response having the latter taking the wheel of his brain. Worse still, was that he felt like the power he got from those people back there was starting to wear off, nearing the end of its ability to sustain his rapid movements which would soon leave him too utterly exhausted to do anything else. Something which sent waves of dread and horror through his spine.

… What did it mean to truly be powerless?

Such things would have passed through his mind as he desperately, madly scrambled like a fleeing rat trying to escape its predators that were hot on his heels, but the boy himself didn't think anything of it. In fact, to him this felt no different compared to what he had endured for his entire life, it just felt a little more intense than normal that was all. It felt normal to him to be utterly scared for his life, since he was so close to losing it for real this time, with his previous days being filled with nothing but abuse and torment.

He couldn't let this be the end though, he had come too far to let it all turn to waste now!

Failure wasn't an option!

It had NEVER been an option!

He would not die here, he'd not just survive this, but the world would see him rise! This he swore on his very SOUL!

As for his pursuers, it would seem that what disadvantages the boy had navigated through this messy path were also applicable to them as well. Thanks to the dense wilderness, it became impossible for them to use their Wings anymore without them getting scratched to bits from all the sharp objects about. Furthermore, their energies being mostly spent made it so that they relied only on their physical ability, which to be frank could be classed as WAY more inferior to their more… mystical, Demonic aspects.

Fortunately, life seemed to smile on the boy for once, as he finally managed to almost lose his pursuers behind him, with the addition of the sight of something akin to a light in the distance informing him that he was close to the end of this destroyed looking path. 'There… I see it! My way out!' the boy exclaimed in his mind as a wave of excitement started to flood his body, evident by the relieved smile spreading across his features. Finally, after all this time he would finally get a chance to break away from these guys, the voice had been quiet this whole time due to what would happen to the Wings when it spoke, so the pursuers couldn't see his form as clearly thanks to the dense and destroyed wilderness.

Come on…

Just a little more…

… Aha!

Finally, he reached the exit, bursting out of the destroyed pathway and into a rather large clearing. At this point, the boy felt it would be smooth sailing from here on due to how he could make a beeline for some more wilderness, with there being enough distance for him to finally lose his pursuers once and for all.

However, as if to remind him that fate could be a cruel, sadistic mistress at times, a cruel reality awaited him that he soon took notice of… one which caused the young boy to freeze up with absolute TERROR exploding onto his features, his skin paling to that of a corpse as his jaw dropped open and his eyes bulged in fear.

'What… is that…?'

Oh no...

Looming in the distance opposite the clearing, was what could only be classified as a HUMONGOUS, brutish beast, looking like it had been resting. Its form mainly had dark red scales covering its body along with the two rows of blue, bony plates running along its back, going from the eyes to the tail. Its underside looked to be more of a cream color, though the boy's eyes soon found themselves GLUED to the main feature of the monster: that being the huge, sword-like tail which swayed to and from lazily. A tail which originally had the same color as its backplates, although it kept blinking two different colors: brown and red. Its hind legs, larger than a fully grown man, looked powerful and muscular, in comparison to its front legs which looked much smaller and mostly useless. Lastly, the most striking feature of the monster aside from its Tail was its head, since that along with its face and jaws were covered in sturdy plating, particularly resembling a dinosaur head though the arms and proportions are modeled after a T-rex he saw from a book that his mother gave to him.

Worse still, was the moment that the young boy entered the clearing, the monster's formerly closed beady eyes flung open, revealing their slitted glowing pupils which resembled the infernal pits of damnation themselves. Spotting him, the monster growled as it stirred awake properly, already getting to its feet to showcase just how MASSIVE the creature had truly been, its shadow easily dwarfing the boy alone who could only look up in unimaginable fright. Its growl sounded like an earthquake which could shake entire landscapes, its talon-equipped feet scraping the earth beneath it whilst also creating some deep-looking footprints as it eyed its newest 'guest' with a look of mild curiosity… mixed with no small amount of savage bloodlust.

"HMMMM, WELL WELL, WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE? A LITTLE LOST BOY, UFUFUFU..."

The Beast, speaking despite the facial structure it had which SHOULDN'T have let it do that, spoke with amusement as it towered over the boy, said boy wanting to be as small as an ant whilst he trembled before it. Whilst it's gaze leered down at him, the boy could tell from the beast that, aside from its sheer size, its power is more powerful than the devils and his own just by looking at it. His pale self didn't even know whether he could try to escape from the beast or fight against it… though the more he thought about it, the more his idiot's brain processed the fact that fighting against this thing would end up not just useless… but goddamn SUICIDAL.

SNIFF SNIFF

Mad flinching erupted onto the young silver-haired boy's face at the sound of sniffing when the beast brought its face closer to his own, his small body trembling horrifically at the spot. Not only that but what strength his weak legs had left abruptly left them, resulting in him falling onto his backside. Would this be his end, would this be where he'd be eaten by this thing or would he be examined just like some lab rat? He didn't know, and that felt like the worst thing of all.

"WHAT'S THIS I SMELL… AHHHH… INTERESTING... A HUMAN BUT A DEVIL… PERHAPS A HALF DEVIL? AND WHAT'S THIS... A SACRED GEAR?"

Trembles as uncontrollable as modern-day earthquakes rattled the boy's body, his forehead ripe with sweat from how horrified and anxiety-ridden form. They got all the more enhanced by the piping hot breath that escaped from the Beast whilst it examined him, the boy trying his best to not move an inch lest he somehow makes it want to eat him in one gulp. It definitely felt like it could do so any time it pleased.

"OH… NOW I SEE... WELL-WELL… ISN'T THIS A SURPRISE, ALBION THE WHITE DRAGON OF SUPREMACY. IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE WE MET LAST... HASN'T IT?"

...Indeed it has, Glavenus.

The beast named Glavenus snorted in an amused tone towards the Wings on the Boy's back, or better yet the Sacred Gear known as the place where Albion resided, though the boy who the Wings were connected to didn't know what to say towards Glavenus right now, too terrified to even speak. Something which the Beast apparently noticed just now as evident by the following words that escaped its mouth.

"WHAT'S WRONG BOY, CAN'T SPEAK OR BETTER YET CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE? WELL SPEAK UP BOY WHAT IS YOUR NAME?"

Upon hearing it speak with a slightly harder tone to its voice, it succeeded in making the boy free himself from his fears for a brief moment, especially when it took its head away from him by raising it upwards. "V… V-Valli. Vali Lucifer." The boy now named Valireplied meekly, stuttering a bit as well as he hoped beyond all hope that this thing didn't try to kill him. He'd already been dealing with those pursuers before, so this thing wanting to kill him would be the LAST thing he'd want.

A low escaped Glavenus' mouth as it contemplated what it had heard from the boy, curiosity, and intrigue replacing its prior bloodlust. Seeing that look on its face, gave Vali a moment to heave a sigh of relief, as seeing it meant that it had shifted its focus from the thought of eating him, much to his internal delight. Maybe he could live on after this encounter after all?

"HMMMM... A LUCIFER, THEN... NOW THAT IS RARE. LAST I HEARD, THERE WAS ONLY ONE CHILD OF LUCIFER. FOR SUCH A HALF DEVIL TO BE RUNNING AROUND THIS FOREST, WHAT BRINGS YOU TO MY HOME LITTLE BOY? PERHAPS YOU ARE LOST OR YOU JUST CAME HERE BY YOUR CURIOSITY?"

"There he is!"

"Finally caught that damn brat!"

"Let's beat the living crap out of him for the trouble he caused us, men."

"As the American Soldiers would say: Oorah!"

… hmm and his big mouth.

Fear and terror came back to Vali when he heard the devil's voices close to their position, forcing strength back into his legs and making him get back to his feet. 'Oh no, I forgot! Those guys are right behind me, and now this thing which could potentially kill and eat me is blocking my way out!' the boy screamed in his mind, panic and dread mixing in with his other emotions, resulting in him feeling like a chaotic mess as of this moment.

To be frank, Vali didn't have much knowledge of his chances of survival right now, as for one he didn't know what course of action to take, whether to allow himself to be brought back to his grandfather for whatever purpose he intended for him (likely not a good one for him, considering how he treated him through his minions), or be eaten by Glavenus. Part of him even pondered on that last one, since it would mean a quick, painless death compared to whatever hellish nightmare his Grandfather likely had in store for him.

"WHAT'S THIS? MORE DEVILS INVADING MY HOME? MY... HOW INTRIGUING!"

Once the Devils entered it's line of sight, bursting through the forest like they owned the place, an angry gaze formed over Glavenus' features with its eyes looking like they'd almost set themselves alight, especially with how brazen these Devils seemed to apparently be. Not only that though, but they dared act like its mighty self wasn't even present or worthy to be noticed in their eyes! Such sacrilege would NOT go unpunished, not if it had anything to say about it! Plus, it wasn't too big a fan of Devils, especially pureblood/complete Devils anyways, so that would be a bonus.

By the time it finished speaking, only THEN did the Devils lookup and view its imposing figure, though in hindsight they had even more stupid points on their scores for not noticing the HUGE ass Dino beast looming over their target. Devils aren't the smartest creatures in the world, let's just say that.

But what one can ALSO say about these particular Devils...

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!"

"I don't know, maybe a dragon or something?!"

"He doesn't look like a dragon, HE LOOKS LIKE A GODDAMN DINOSAUR!"

"What's the difference?!"

...Was that like in any horror movie ever, the sight of a big scary monster they'd never seen before caused them to shit their pants.

"WHAT ARE YOU DEVILS DOING HERE?! SPEAK BEFORE I LOSE MY TEMPER ON YOU!"

As Glavenus bellowed those words out, its voice echoed across the clearing whilst its Tail smacked against the ground behind it, leaving a scraping gash along with the dirt that looked sharp enough to cut someone in two. Furthermore, it cast its looming presence over the Devils in question, it's shadow EASILY darkening over their surroundings whilst its gaze promised nothing but PAIN should they not provide a satisfactory answer.

Yet, like idiots, each of them looked towards one another for a few seconds… before looking back with twisted, arrogant smirks on their faces with some even chuckling in dark amusement. Like they were the ones in charge of this situation.

"Oh look a dinosaur is threatening us."

"Should we be scared of a dinosaur?"

"Yeah, what's it going to do, eat us?"

"Let's just get the boy and be done with this, besides what can one dinosaur do against all 15 of us."

… One can guess they'd never seen the Jurassic Park franchise, huh? Otherwise, they'd know EXACTLY what one should do when encountering a real-life Dino.

...They're dead.

Momentarily, Vali jumped when he heard the Voice that had been guiding him this whole time speak again. This time though he didn't mind as much, probably due to the many times he had felt fear in the last few moments that he had started becoming numb to the feeling. Though it could also have been due to the fact that since the pursuers had become distracted by Glavenus, it didn't matter whether or not his position got leaked.

'Huh? What do you mean… um, Albion was it?'

Indeed, nice to meet you at last, young Vali Lucifer.

So, this guy had some manners, well Vali appreciated it nonetheless since it had been a LONG ass time since he could have a proper conversation with someone… who wasn't his mother anyways.

'Nice to meet you too, but can you explain to me why they're dead?'

It's quite simple Vali, you do NOT mess with a Wyvern, especially him.

'A Wyvern, what's that?'

Glad you asked, a wyvern is a type of species belongs to dragons, they are smaller, shrewd, and cannot talk, but when they grow up to a certain age, they gain intelligence and master their own elements, some can evolve into a true dragon, or they can evolve to a subspecies if they fight more opponents

'Really, what's your element and his?'

Mines is blizzard to which I can freeze opponents to a level that I can freeze their souls and for Glavenus his is combustions

'Combustion, what's that?'

Combustions is a chemical process in which a substance reacts rapidly with oxygen and gives off heat. Glavenus is able to use this process in many different ways, as I'm sure you'll be seeing momentarily. Suffice it to say, Dragons have always been wary of him, especially with how high his Kill Count had been during the Great War.

That sounded quite like an epic tale, but before Vali could ask for more…

Screams from the Devils took his attention first. Yet, when he looked to the source, Vali saw what he could honestly say was his first ever one-sided slaughter. Glavenus charged in and slammed the space where the Devils had been with his Tail, which had pretty much created a crater large enough to level multiple buildings at once. Not giving any respite, it then began to pour energy into that same appendage, causing it to turn into the color of pure lava. When it did this, the massive being swung its Tail in a full 360-degree spin, slicing through 3 of the Devils who had tried to launch a sneak attack only to end up getting bisected by the massive Dino. Several eruptions of heat followed after the Tail, creating an arc of them which extended both the attack's range as well as its power.

One Devil over at the Dino's left flank, tried to summon a blast of magic from his hands to launch at Glavenus' head, thinking that to be its weak spot. However, it knocked him into some of his comrades with his Tail before its form vanished out of existence, almost akin to a mirage with the space it once occupied being bombarded by various energy attacks from some Devils above. Glavenus then reappeared right above them, using its massive body to SLAM right on top of the majority of them, body slamming them into the ground and crushing a few of them flat. By the time this happened about 7 of the Devils remained…

And they looked absolutely traumatized, with Glavenus hardly even doing anything.

"AAAHHH WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?"

One of them gave a sharp cry after Glavenus reared its head back, flames flickering within its jaws whilst its throat started to glow. Seconds later, Glavenus opened its mouth to launch a fireball, large enough to swallow the average man whole. That same Devil, poor sod that he was, didn't have the time to even scream as he got incinerated alive leaving nothing left, not even a pile of ashes.

Though, that didn't mean that the others near him didn't get hit either.

"SHIT I'M BURNING LIKE HELL!"

"SOMEONE HELP US!"

"PLEASE I BEG YOU"

The sounds of the devils that were chasing him were almost like satisfaction for him, practically music to his ears.

However, on the other hand, they felt almost goddamn traumatizing since this is the first time he is seeing someone being killed, but Albion pretty much demanded that he stay watching this. According to the Voice, he had to watch because he had to learn what it means to be strong, to be able to control his own fate alongside his own destiny as well.

'Whoa… this is…'

Yeah, Vali looked pretty dumbstruck, and he had every reason to be.

See that boy, that's what it means to be strong. The stronger you are, the less people can do to try and control you. You'll be able to not only show them why it's a bad idea to mess with you, but you'll also be able to control your own fate. But, before you can go on about all that, you'll have to find out where your true strength is. Is it to kill your own grandfather, is it to protect your friends, your comrades, or your family or is it to be the very top of the food chain?

When Albion said those words to Vali on what it means to be strong… it didn't take him long to come to a conclusion. Especially when he remembered what it had been that drove him into this situation in the first place, which caused his gaze to harden whilst he clutched his fists tightly with resolve starting to build within his chest.

"I've decided now, I will become strong, stronger than my own grandfather, strong to be able to control my own fate!….. Strong enough to protect my own mother so that she won't suffer just because I'm weak, I will find out where my true strength lies."

I see, then good luck partner, you're going to need it

Once Vali made an oath to Albion, he didn't notice that Glavenus had heard what Vali said, after finishing off the rest of the Devils with a well-placed flaming Tail slice. It couldn't help but snort to itself, amused at Vali that he wanted to find his own true strength, the boy reminded it of itself when it had been just a simple Wyvern. However, just as it thought about this, something else registered within it when it processed Vali's oath, its eyes slightly widening afterward.

"... BOY."

Hearing the Wyvern's voice so suddenly, Vali almost jumped where he had stood, especially when he saw the towering Dino stomp its way back over to him, its gaze suddenly WAY more intense than it had been previously. Now, instead of feeling like he would be eaten alive, Vali felt so small like an ant whilst the feeling of being potentially roasted from its gaze flowed through him. "Um... Yeah?"

"... YOU SAID YOU WANTED TO KILL YOUR GRANDFATHER. YOUR GRANDFATHER'S NAME IS RIZEVIM LUCIFER, IS IT NOT?"

... Glavenus… don't tell me you haven't…

Albion made to say something, but he became silent, wanting to see what this development would lead to for his current host in the end.

"Yeah…"

"THEN… IT WOULD SEEM THAT FATE MAY BE THROWING ME A BONE YET. BOY, THE JOURNEY TO DEFEATING THAT STAIN UPON THIS WORLD WILL BE A LONG, ARDUOUS ONE. YOU WILL MEET MANY PEOPLE AND LOSE JUST AS MUCH…"

Upon hearing that, Vali lowered his gaze downwards slightly, before his gaze rose to meet its own once again, this time not leaving them despite the intense fear inside. "I'm prepared for that." he stated firmly, before something out of the corner of his gaze caught his attention. Something which soon took his interest: a large gash wound, one which ran down the interior of one of the Beast's spindly arms. It looked old, twisted and brutal like it had been afflicted more as a means of tormenting the victim rather than outright hurt it. Not only that, but the more Vali looked at it, the more disturbed he felt since the wound did NOT look like an ordinary one.

He felt pretty sure that ordinary ones didn't pulsate with an energy similar to those Devils and his own, but only much greater.

Apparently, Glavenus also noticed what Vali had been drawn to, as a huff escaped its jaws as it tilted its head to the side.

"STILL… THE HOSTS OF ALBION, THE VANISHING DRAGON, HAVE ALWAYS BEEN EXCEPTIONALLY PASSIONATE IN THEIR OWN DREAMS OF SUPREMACY… FOR ONE OF THEM TO REACH THEIR GOALS, THEY'D DO WHATEVER IT TOOK… YES, PERHAPS 'THAT' COULD BE AN OPTION FOR ME…"

"Um, what do you mean, sir? You're not making much sense…"

"I WILL NOT MINCE WORDS: YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO DESPISES THAT DEVIL. I DO TOO, BUT UNLIKE YOU… THIS WOUND COMES WITH A CURSE… AND IT TETHERS ME TO THIS PLACE. IT WAS INFLICTED UPON ME LONG AGO BY THAT DEVIL, AND EVER SINCE I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO ESCAPE, UNABLE TO RETURN TO MY HOME OR SEE THOSE I CARED FOR…"

Glavenus explained this, confirming what Albion had been thinking about regarding its old acquaintance. Nevertheless, hearing that it too had been a victim of his grandfather's sent Vali into a shocked stupor, his eyes shooting wide open and his jaw dropping. Hey, he had every right to be shocked, here before him was someone whom he could relate to on a spiritual level! He didn't expect to meet another being victimised by his grandfather like this! "R-Really…? Then, that means we share a common desire, then…" he finally managed to say after finding his voice. All of a sudden, an urge took over his throat and forced the following words to escape his mouth, though he didn't stop them nor did he want to. "Is there… any way I can help? I mean, I know I'm weak right now, as much as it pains me to admit…"

"YES. THERE IS ONE WAY FOR YOU TO HELP ME, BUT FIRST… DO YOU SWEAR TO KILL YOUR GRANDFATHER IN THE FUTURE? WILL YOU GIVE ME YOUR WORD YOU WILL EVENTUALLY DO THIS?"

"Y-Yeah!" Vali declared, pumping a fist in front of his face with a look of sheer resolve forming on his features. "I swore it before, but I swear to make my grandfather pay for what he did to mom with his life! He'll never mess with me or my family!" he proclaimed again.

"... VERY WELL, THE BLAZE IN YOUR EYES… YES, YOU WILL DO PERFECTLY, THEN. I SHALL INDEED TAKE YOU FOR YOUR WORD, BOY. YOU MAY TAKE MY SOUL WITH YOU AND GO FORTH, YOU WILL HAVE MY BLESSING."

"?"

! Glavenus, are you serious about this?! You can't mean-

...What did Glavenus mean by that? And, why did Albion seem so stunned by it? Vali would have asked these questions, but he never got the chance to. The reason? Glavenus reared its head up to the skies above, letting out one long, drawn-out howl akin to a wolf howling at the moon in the night. The moment it did so, its form suddenly became bathed in this bright, crimson-colored light, causing Vali to gasp as he covered his eyes with his right arm, even as the following events that followed took place.

'A-Albion, what's happening?! What's this guy doing?!'

...Glavenus, he is turning into a weapon, a weapon that can only be used if a high-class dragon, Demon, or Devil entrusts their Soul to another. Either this or another method, I'll explain that one at a later date.

'Turning into a weapon…'

Those words echoed through his mind as the Light began to shrink and die down, allowing Vali to lower his arm to let his eyes see what was happening. By this point the light had faded completely, and in the place of the hulking mass of monster flesh… there it was: a weapon, just as Albion had said. It floated before him, coated in a coat of pure crimson energy which crackled over its form chaotically. The weapon itself took on the form of what could only be described as a large, two-handed black and red demonic-looking Axe. One which could easily surpass any adult person in terms of length. It even had some features which reminded him highly of Glavenus itself.

'This… this is…' the boy thought as the weapon floated over to him and landed before him, embedding its multiple blades into the ground like a sword in the stone. As Vali approached the Axe that Glavenus had somehow produced, the boy lost control over his jaw as the sheer POWER it emitted could be felt even by him, a complete novice to this apparent new 'world' he had stumbled into. Reaching forward upon getting close enough, Veli gripped the Axe by its handle with his right hand, and upon doing so he gritted his teeth. His arm practically became a literal lightning rod with how the crimson energy crackled along its form and up to his shoulder, soon spreading through his entire body. All the while, it felt like he had no longer any control over his arm cause he couldn't move it, no matter how many signals his brain sent to the nerves within the limb.

"Guh… Ugh…!" Pain wracked the boy's senses, making him want to scream out to the heavens above whilst this energy seemed to be doing something, mostly around his back area, but he held that urge in. Through the pain, he thought about what his mother had gone through because of his weakness, as well as his dead bastard garbage of a father, and that stirred him forth, made him grit his teeth whilst the arm holding the Axe trembled like no tomorrow. Seconds passed, and the trembling still kept getting worse, whilst the pain kept escalating more and more, taking away any other sense that the boy possessed.

"Nnnngh… grrr…. Guuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgh!"

"...#GASP#! Huff… Huff… Huff…"

In the end though, a seemingly eternal moment passed by him, when the power finally settled down. This sensation got accompanied by a loud exhale of relief from the young boy as he finally felt control over his arm return to him. Vali himself fell onto one knee, using the Axe as a means of stabilizing himself as he held it by its handle with both hands, breathing heavily and in disarray. His forehead lay dripping with thick droplets of sweat, droplets which dripped from that area of his body onto the ground before him, like a miniature shower of rain.

Not only that, but the power he had felt entering him? It didn't vanish, no it stayed. He felt it flowing through not just him, but also through the Axe itself, which seemed to be circulating it through his body as if it were some sort of external power source. Furthermore, the crimson aura it had? It flowed over Vali too, cloaking him in it and bathing him within its presence, all the while the Axe itself seemingly hummed in approval, as if it were pleased with this outcome.

Yet, even with his current state, Vali still had the strength and will to look upon the weapon he now held with eyes wide and full of awe, wonder, and confusion all at once. It felt… amazing, practically euphoric even. Was this what it felt like to have power? To be able to control one's own fate? 'What… was that, Albion…? What the heck… is this this thing...?'

As expected of my wielders, it seems fate has smiled upon you. That, my boy, is something that existed even before YHWH created the Sacred Gears, it is called a Devil Arm.

'Devil's Arm? Why is it called that? I thought you said that Glavenus was a Wyvern.'

Ah, that is indeed correct. However, the original Devil Arm was created by a Demon named Machiavelli, and as such all future weapons created this way, were thus given this name. The Devil Arms are demonic, variably sentient weapons that are commonly the manifestation of a defeated Demon's soul or power, although there have been cases like Glavenus where non-Demonic Beings have managed to form this process. These Weapons were created as a way for empowering Demonic legions by the original Satans, using their stronger but frailer Demons who couldn't fight as well as they used to in order to bolster their 'younger' members. No Devil Arm is truly inferior to a Sacred Gear in terms of sheer power nor their ability to grow, not to mention their abilities depend on the Demon or monster used to forge them, this one being forged with Glavenus's fire powers. Also in this case, it would appear that the Devil Arm formed itself into a Switch Axe, not something I've seen utilized in a while.

'Switch Axe? Why does that sound similar to a SwitchBlade?' Vali wondered, shuddering as uncomfortable memories of his father wielding a Switch Blade for some of the… 'fun times' he would spend with him and his mother.

Switchblades are a type of knife with a folding or sliding blade contained in the handle which is opened automatically by a spring when a button, lever, or switch on the handle or bolster is activated. Most switchblade designs incorporate a locking blade, in which the blade is locked against closure when the spring extends the blade to the fully opened position. A Switch Axe uses similar principles, but they instead have both an Axe and a Sword Mode of which one can switch between them at will, hence their name. You should be able to see this for yourself, boy.

Hearing Albion's explanation, Vali hummed with intrigue, childish intrigue even with everything he had gone through as he finally managed to stand up straight again. Those wings he had before, the Sacred Gear that he apparently had and that Albion seemed to reside in, had already vanished by this point, he didn't know when exactly though but Vali didn't pay this much heed at the moment. Looking the weapon over, Vali soon found a button close to the weapon's hilt, so he pressed it… and the Switch Axe Devil Arm then realigned its offensive parts. It happened similar to a mecha transforming into a different mode, and in the end, he now holds more of an oversized greatsword than anything else, electing an amazed sound from Vali's lips. "Amazing…" he muttered breathlessly.

Hmph, of course they are. Devil Arms have long since fallen out of use in favor of Sacred Gears, but perhaps you could be the one to bring them into the spotlight once again. In any case however, it seems that an… an unforeseen side effect has occurred, young one.

'Eh? What do you…?'

Before Vali could finish his sentence, several… things, burst out his back, nearly knocking him off balance had he not managed to use his new Devil Arm as a support post in time. When the abrupt motions stopped, Vali looked behind himself to see what had happened… and came face to face with a set of wings protruding from him. Wings which he at first thought were like those of the pursuers who had tried to take him to his Grandfather. However, he soon noticed the STARK differences between them.

First, NONE of the 8 Wings resembled anything like those 'Devils', no sir. Instead, they looked larger, darker, and had pure crimson veins running along their webbings as if they were wreathed in crimson fire. The Fire which reminded him heavily of Glavenus, which likely meant THIS had been the side effect that Albion had mentioned. 'Well… at least we can say that I'm further away from my Grandfather, Risevim now. But… where should we go from here? I haven't been to the outside world before because 'father'...' Vali spat the word father in his thoughts like it was a toxic curse, which to be fair wasn't completely wrong. 'Never allowed me to be too far from him. Always kept me in his sights like I would suddenly become strong enough to beat him. Lotta good it did him in the end, though…'

Partner, I have a solution for you. It seems that one of my past wielders saw your determination he decided to train you and wants to see how far will you go in your journey, and as for a place to stay a bit, I know where we can go.
